  • In this guest host takeover episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Kelly and Jenna from ODFM Podcast, unravel the tragic story of Michelle Marie Summers McNeil, a woman whose seemingly perfect life took a dark turn. Michelle, a beautiful, intelligent, and beloved mother of eight, was married to Martin McNeil, a doctor and lawyer with a dark past and even darker intentions.

The episode delves into Martin's midlife crisis that led to an obsession with his appearance and a suspicious insistence that Michelle undergo a facelift. Shortly after the surgery, Michelle was found dead in their bathtub, leading to a series of shocking revelations about Martin's extramarital affairs and fraudulent activities.

As Kelly and Jenna dissect the case, they explore the manipulative and deceitful nature of Martin, who had a history of forgery, fraud, and possibly even previous murders. They also introduce Gypsy Willis, Martin's mistress, who played a controversial role in the aftermath of Michelle's death.

The investigation into Michelle's death was initially closed, but thanks to the relentless efforts of her daughters and the determination of investigator Doug Whitney, the case was reopened, leading to Martin's conviction for first-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

This episode raises numerous questions: What drove Martin to such extremes? Did Gypsy know more than she let on? How did the justice system initially miss so many red flags?

What are your thoughts on this case? Do you believe justice was served? Share your opinions in the comments below.

  • In this midweek true crime documentary episode, Ky delves into the questionable and violent case of Ike Souzer, a young man with a history of escaping authorities and a troubling past. Ike, who was described as autistic and had a troubled childhood, first made headlines when he brutally stabbed his mother, Barbara Schuer Souzer, in their Garden Grove, California home. Despite being convicted of voluntary manslaughter, Ike's story doesn't end there.

While awaiting trial in juvenile court, Ike attacked a corrections officer and escaped, only to be captured the next day. His repeated offenses, including attacking three correctional officers and making a shiv while in custody, apparently weren't enough to keep him behind bars. Judges repeatedly gave him lenient sentences, reducing felony charges to misdemeanors and releasing him early with just an ankle bracelet for monitoring.

Despite being labeled as "extremely dangerous" and a "significant threat to public safety," Ike managed to escape again in April 2022 by removing his ankle bracelet. He was eventually found in a homeless encampment in Anaheim, California. In October 2023, he was convicted of making a shiv, but the judge still opted for a lenient sentence, citing the need for reintegration services over prison time.

After his final escape to Rosarito, Mexico, and subsequent arrest by Mexican officials, Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer criticized the judges for their leniency, arguing that Ike had turned every opportunity for reform into another chance to break the law. As of now, Ike is back in custody, but his future remains uncertain.

What do you think of the judges' decisions? Should Ike have been given more severe sentences? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

  • In this true crime documentary episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky dives into a case that will leave you questioning the behavior of some people. On June 6, 2024, police in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, responded to a welfare check that unveiled a gruesome scene. Three adults—77-year-old Robert John McGuire, 60-year-old Gregory Scott Powell, and 65-year-old Carol Ann Reese—were found dead with severe trauma to their upper bodies. The prime suspect? Their 23-year-old roommate Alyssa Jane Venable.

Alyssa, who had moved in just a month prior, was soon identified as the main suspect. The investigation revealed that one victim was shot in the head, another was found in the bathroom, and the third was discovered in the garage, covered by a table and a mattress. As police moved to arrest Alyssa, she led them on a high-speed chase from Virginia to New York, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour before being apprehended after driving over spike strips.

Alyssa now faces extradition to Virginia, where she will be charged with three counts of second-degree murder and one count of using a firearm during the commission of a felony. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have yet to release a motive for the killings.

This episode raises many questions: What could have driven Alyssa to commit such acts? Why did she feel the need to flee?

  • On October 9, 2022, police found the body of 54-year-old James Orlando Harris in Portland, Oregon. Initially responding to a report of "suspicious circumstances," officers discovered James's body in a sleeping bed dumped in some bushes off the highway. The autopsy revealed he died from a hammer blow to the head and strangulation with a dog leash, likely on October 4, days before his body was found.

Who could have done this? The investigation soon pointed to Zachary Hackman, who had just returned from a vacation with his girlfriend's family. His girlfriend, Lara Jean Harris, also came back from a concert when Zach, who sometimes went by the alias Zach Call, called her to help him "clean out some trash." Unbeknownst to her, she was helping him dispose of her father's body.

LaraJean didn't call the police out of fear for her safety. However, police eventually discovered James' body due to an unrelated suspicious circumstance report. The investigation, initially for a suspicious death, turned into a homicide case after the medical examiner's report confirmed "homicidal violence."

Surveillance footage showed Zachary covering James' kitchen window with a towel on the day of the murder and later, with LaraJean, carrying a heavy container to her car. LaraJean claimed she had no idea she was disposing of her father's body and didn't call the police out of fear for her life. She was not charged, but Zachary was arrested on October 23, 2023, and charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and abuse of a corpse.

Following a plea agreement, Zachary was sentenced to 17 years for first-degree manslaughter and an additional two years for abuse of a corpse. He will also serve three years of post-prison supervision upon release. Despite the severity of his crimes, Zachary has never given a motive for the murder.

What do you think about the sentence? Why was it labeled manslaughter and not murder? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

  • In today's true crime Tuesday episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky delves into the case of Jennifer Lynn Rossi, a mother arrested for concocting a drink for her child to give to a school bully. On March 5, 2024, Bexar County Sheriff's deputies were called to Legacy Traditional School in San Antonio, Texas, after a child fell ill from drinking a mixture of lemon, salt, and vinegar. The drink, prepared by Jennifer, was intended to deter the bully from taking her son's drinks. Instead, it sent the bully to the hospital with headaches and nausea.

Jennifer was arrested and charged with injury to a child causing bodily injury. The case raises serious questions about parental responsibility and the appropriate way to handle bullying.

Poll Question:Do you think parents should face criminal charges if they encourage their children to retaliate against school bullies in ways that cause harm?

  • In today's episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky delves into the Florida Man case of Melissa Elaine Barnes, a mother from Hillsboro County, Florida, who was arrested after allegedly giving her 13-month-old baby a bottle filled with bleach.

On January 2, 2024, a concerned relative contacted police, leading to the discovery of the baby living in an unsanitary, unpowered shed. The relative's quick thinking and suspicion saved the child from potential harm. Barnes claimed the bleach was used to rinse the bottle, but the contents were confirmed to contain chlorine-based bleach by the FBI laboratory. Despite this crazy incident, Barnes was not arrested until four months later! She faces charges of abuse and child neglect, adding to her previous criminal record.

On October 21, 2022, Riverside police responded to a hospital where a 20-year-old man had been shot multiple times. The investigation revealed that this was a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by Samuel Pasillas, a 47-year-old pastor from Victorville. The victim survived and provided crucial information to the police, leading to the arrest of Pasillas and his accomplice, Juan Manuel Cebreros. Both men were charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The case remains under investigation, and authorities are seeking additional information from the public.

  • In today's episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky dives into the weird and unsettling case of two Ohio women charged with gross abuse of a corpse and theft after allegedly driving the corpse of an 80-year-old man to a bank to withdraw money from his account. The story begins on March 4, when police responded to a 911 call from the Ashtabula County Medical Center reporting that a deceased elderly man had been dropped off with no information. The investigation quickly led authorities to 55-year-old Loreen Feralo and 63-year-old Karen Casbohm, who had been living with the deceased, Douglas Lehman.

Loreen, who had been in a relationship with Douglas for seven to eight years, and Karen, who had moved in a few months prior, claimed they found Douglas dead and, with the help of a third person, transported his body to the bank to withdraw approximately $900. They then dropped his body at the medical center and left. Despite their claims of innocence, surveillance footage and a recorded phone call revealed their knowledge of Douglas's death before the bank visit. Both women have been charged, and the case remains under investigation.

  • On December 22, 2022, the body of 34-year-old Leila Duarte Da Luz was found by a fisherman in Coventry's Carbuncle Pond with lacerations on her head. An autopsy revealed that she was pregnant. Who was Leila, and who could have committed this heinous act?

Join Ky as she delves into the case of Leila Duarte Da Luz, uncovering the horrifying details of her murder and the investigation that followed.

Leila was last seen leaving her Brockton home with her fiancé, Gary Gromkiewicz, in the early hours of December 21. Her body was discovered the next day, submerged in the icy waters of Carbuncle Pond. The medical examiner determined that she had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and had drowned. The investigation revealed that Gary, along with his friend Michael Lambert, had driven around Rhode Island with Leila before her murder.

Gary, who was on probation for a previous felony, and Michael, with a history of violent crime, were both arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

  • In this midweek mini true crime documentary episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky brings us the shocking story of a teenage girl who was relentlessly cyberbullied by an unexpected and shocking source—her own mother.

In early 2021, Kendra Gail Lissari's daughter began receiving a barrage of harassing messages from what appeared to be another teenager. The bullying extended to her daughter's boyfriend, with both teens receiving up to twelve cruel messages a day. Despite efforts from parents, the police, and the Beale City school district, the source of the harassment remained elusive until the FBI stepped in.

The court described the messages as "disturbing and hateful," though the exact contents were kept private.

Listen in to find out why the mom did this.

This case inspired a Lifetime movie titled "Mommy Menace," which premiered on May 11, 2024.

    Poll Question:
Should parents who cyberbully their own kids lose custody or face some type of restriction on their parental rights?

  • In this gripping true crime Tuesday episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky investigates the tragic and complex case of Christopher Tapp, a man wrongfully convicted of the 1996 rape and murder of his friend Angie Dodge. After spending 20 years in prison, Christopher was exonerated thanks to new DNA technology, only to be murdered himself shortly after his release.

Ky walks us through the harrowing details of Christopher's coerced confession, the relentless interrogations, and the eventual breakthrough that led to his freedom. The episode also covers the shocking discovery of the real perpetrator, 55-year-old Brian Dripps, who lived across the street from Angie at the time of her murder. Dripps' belated confession and subsequent trial add another layer of tragedy to this already heart-wrenching story.

As Ky delves into the emotional impact on Angie's family and the community, the episode raises questions about justice, accountability, and the devastating consequences of wrongful convictions. The case takes an even darker turn with the mysterious circumstances surrounding Christopher's own death, ruled a homicide, leaving listeners to ponder who might be responsible.

    Poll Question:
Who do you think could be behind Christopher Tapp's murder?
