Try as they might, the Toronto Raptors are probably not going to be drafting in the Top-5 of this year's NBA Draft -- and Sean is here to tell you why that's okay! In Episode 1817, Sean Woodley goes solo for another Toxic Positivity Friday to talk about why it's OK that factors beyond the Raptors control might leave them drafting somewhere in the 6 to 10 range of the draft instead of in the Top-5 like it seemed like they were on track to do to start the year, before a look at prospects Derik Queen and Tre Johnson. Off the top, Sean digs into why the Raptors have given themselves insurance against bad lottery luck with the Brandon Ingram trade, and why a jump into the top-2 is no longer required for the Raptors to move themselves forward, though it'd certainly be awesome, and why the likely outcome of a pick in the 6 to 10 range is by no means a disaster outcome. Next, Sean offers a breakdown of Maryland freshman big man Derik Queen, who's very cool, and has some awesome strengths, even if his fit on the Raptors isn't super clean. Lastly, Sean talks about fast-rising Texas freshman guard Tre Johnson, who's as talented a shot-maker in the draft this side of Ace Bailey, though he's certainly not without question marks of his own.

RJ Barrett is the single most interesting Toronto Raptors player to watch both on and off the court over the next sixth months. In Episode 1811, Sean Woodley goes solo to answer a couple mailbag questions about RJ Barrett's place within the team and a big dumb summer trade idea before discussing the news that Ulrich Chomche will miss the rest of the season with an MCL tear. Off the top, Sean fields a listener question about the Raptors' star Canadian and what he'll need to do on the court to entrench himself into the team's long-term plans now that Brandon Ingram's arrival has changed the landscape of the team both on the floor and on the cap sheet. Next, Sean entertains a very silly trade idea from a listener that probably isn't legal, is very fun, and almost certainly is something the Raptors should not entertain. In Episode 1802, Sean Woodley goes solo off the top to talk about the Raptors small deadline day moves, saying goodbye to Davion Mitchell, Chris Boucher being invincible and the little James Wiseman pickup made just before the buzzer. Next, Sean welcomes in Jake Madison of Locked On Pelicans to talk about the reasons to like the Ingram pickup for the Raptors, reasons for some pause, why Ingram's time in New Orleans came to an end the way it did, and what to make of his injury history within the Pelicans organization, which has a bit of a poor reputation for keeping players healthy. The Toronto Raptors have acquired Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, the Pacers 2026 first-round pick and a 2031 second-round pick. In Episode 1801, Sean Woodley goes solo to spill his many thoughts on the trade, which certainly bring some upside if Ingram is able to adapt his game to fit around Scottie Barnes, and if he can stay healthy, but bring a lot of potential for things to go wrong and set back the Scottie Barnes era to a possibly irreparable degree. Off the top, Sean runs through the rationale of the trade, why the deal doesn't mean the Raptors are suddenly about to push for the play-in tournament, the closed loop on the Pascal Siakam trade and the reasons why the trade make sense -- if you believe in Ingram as a player... Next, Sean runs through the ways in which this works. If Ingram can adapt under new coaach Darko Rajakovic, there's a world in which the Raptors' collection of pretty good players turns into a team that's better than the sum of its parts; and some lottery luck in June would go a long way to making this whole thing more viable. Lastly, Sean outlines the ways in which this goes off the rails, from the money Ingram could potentially make, the injury history that makes him high-risk as a high-priced piece, and the potential for this to be a Rudy Gay / Jermaine O'Neal level mess if things don't break right. We'll see!!
