  • Earlier this week, the story broke that Warriors owner Joe Lacob gave Jeanie Buss a ring, asking whether or not the Lakers would trade LeBron James. (And if so, maybe to Golden State?) Jeanie said they weren't interested, but they could run it past Team LeBron, as a courtesy, because if James wanted out, they'd try to honor the request.
The answer was no, LeBron isn't interested, and with that, the episode ended.
    But the intrigue? ONLY BEGINNING!
For starters, the context of the conversation was founded in a moment where things looked ugly for the Lakers. Now, however, the vibes are strong. The team is confident heading into the break. So the contrast is interesting.
Also intriguing: The notion of trading LeBron, and LeBron's option broadly, gets into all sorts of questions about how the team needs to be organized around him (and really, Anthony Davis) in order to maximize the late season benefits of James, when he can fully deliver on his capabilities.
Finally, who benefits from a story like this being out there? What motivates the leakers, here?

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: How the LeBron Trade Story illustrates just how fast a season can pivot.

SEGMENT 2: What does this story say about the short and long(ish) term future of LeBron and the Lakers?

SEGMENT 3: Who benefits from leaking this story in the way it did?

  • Have the Lakers finally, mercifully, found themselves?
They seem to think so, at the least. That's what Rui Hachimura was talking about following his career high 36 points, which helped the Lakers to a first half-ending win over the Jazz in Utah. Hachimura, who has bounced back in a big way from his 2-point, 38 minute outing against Denver last week, talked about comfort and continuity and guys feeling good about each other.
Certainly the Lakers have a lot to feel good about, as they've won three straight, six of seven and eight of 12 as they head into the break. And this one came without LeBon James, who didn't even make the trip as he got some rest before heading to Indianapolis for the All-Star Game.
D'Angelo Russell had a career high 17 assists, Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 10/4 in 28 minutes, and overall the Lakers seem to have found a level of comfort in how they operate offensively that has made the game seem fun to them again.
How far can they go? Hard to say. This hot streak has helped them gain... well, basically nothing in the standings. But it does show there is potential in this team, a big change from how folks felt about this squad at the beginning of the Grammy trip.
Oh, and the Warriors kicked the tires on a LeBron trade.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers beat the Jazz, head into the break feeling good.

SEGMENT 2: RUI! DAVIS! RUSSELL! Things are coming together.

SEGMENT 3: The Warriors inquired about LeBron?

  • Andy Kamenetzky and Cyrus Saatsaz host a crossover episode to discuss the shocking news broken this morning by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne that the Golden State Warriors reached out to the Los Angeles Lakers to discuss a potential blockbuster trade that would've traded superstar LeBron James to the Warriors.

Talks never got particularly far, beyond it reaching ownership level, with Joe Lacob speaking directly to Jeanie Buss, who said she'd only sign off on a deal involving LeBron if that's what the superstar wanted. Lacob was then referred to Klutch boss Rich Paul, who confirmed that LeBron wanted to remain in L.A., and that was that. The King stays in L.A. But no doubt that even as a hypothetical, this is fascinating stuff. Plus, it speaks to the tenuous place both franchises were in a couple of weeks ago.

Segment One: Holy (bleep)! This call happened!

Segment Two: Who would the Lakers have demanded in exchange for LeBron if he wanted to move? Would Golden State have agreed?

Segment Three: What's next, if anything?

  • The Lakers, don't look now, have started to put some wins together.
Seven of 10 now, factoring in Tuesday's 125-111 win over the Pistons at the Crypt. The starting lineup that swapped Rui Hachimua for Taurean Prince, has won five straight. The offense is flying around, the passing has elevated and turnovers are trending in the right direction.
So with that in mind, and with the addition of Spencer Dinwiddie (who made his Lakers debut Tuesday), is there reason to crank up the optimism around the squad? Especially if Dinwiddie plays like he did in Dallas, there's every reason to believe he'll make a significant difference for a squad that needs more ball handling.
Joining in to break it all down is Darian Vaziri, host of Locked On Clippers and the DimeDropper empire (search it out on YouTube). What accounts for the turnaround? Is it important for the Lakers to lean into a new identity, built more around big offense than lockdown defense?
What kind of impact will Dinwiddie have, particularly as the Western Conference gets rougher and rougher. The Lakers, at 7-3 over their last 10, have played well but not actually gained any real ground in the conference. Meanwhile, there seems to be two tiers of squads. But even if one team has a gaudy record, do they have a kryptonite a little lower in the standings?

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers beat Detroit, and are starting to put wins together.

SEGMENT 2: The impact of Dinwiddie.

SEGMENT 3: How do the Lakers stack up against the West?

  • Monday we reacted to the weekend signing of guard Spencer Dinwiddie. Today, it's a deeper dive into what exactly Dinwiddie can bring to the Lakers, with Adam Armbrecht, host of Locked on Nets and a man present for both of Dinwiddie's stints in Brooklyn.
He's a guy with tremendous variance in his output, often seemingly tied to the context in which he's playing. Is it an environment where winning is an option? Is he surrounded by players that can enhance his skill set, and limit his usage to appropriate levels (therefore boosting efficiency)?
Are the Lakers, right now, that kind of team?
Armbrecht answers those questions, and more, breaking down what kind of defender Dinwiddie can be as well. How might he fit with a Lakers backcourt that has struggled, particularly at the point of attack? Dinwiddie doesn't have much of a reputation on that side of the ball, but is that entirely fair? What are his strengths and weaknesses, and how might they be revealed on a team with LeBron James and Anthony Davis?
It's a great breakdown of a critical addition for the team as it heads into the All Star break.
Plus, what exactly kept those other rumored deals with Brooklyn (Dorian Finney-Smith? Royce O'Neale?) from happening?

HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky, with Guest Adam Armbrecht

    SEGMENT 1: Dinwiddie on offense.

SEGMENT 2: Dinwiddie on D, plus post-deadline talk.

SEGMENT 3: Reaction to the scouting report.

  • The Lakers didn't make a deal at Thursday's trade deadline, but that doesn't mean they didn't ultimately improve the team. Over the weekend, they made the signing of former Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie official.
The Lakers will have to figure out how they want to deploy him at a position of relative strength (at least among the starters) but he'll provide badly needed depth in the backcourt, and allow Darvin Ham to always have a true PG on the floor at all times. It could, as well, let Austin Reaves lean harder into the things he's best at, and not have to invest quite as much energy in operating the offense effectively.
Does Dinwiddie improve the defense? The perimeter shooting? Not materially, but he will allow the Lakers to lean into strengths, and that could make just as much of a difference.
What about the rest of the buyout market? Are there players available (or expected to become available) that would be worth adding? Even if it means cutting a player?
Finally, how does all of this potentially impact the perception of what the team has been doing? Signing Dinwiddie is a good move, but does it make up for the inaction at the deadline? (In the mind of LeBron, because really that's what we're talking about, right?)

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers sign Spencer Dinwiddie. What impact will he have?

SEGMENT 2: Dinwiddie's strengths and weaknesses. Can he fill needs for the Lakers?

SEGMENT 3: Are there other players on the buyout market worth grabbing? Even if it means cutting a player?

  • The last 24 hours have been consumed by questions about whether the Lakers effectively gave up on the season by standing pat at the trade deadline.
Well, in their first game following the deadline, the Lakers didn't look like a team that had packed it in. They put on an impressive offensive display and controlled their game against the visiting New Orleans Pelicans throughout and won TK-TK. Balance among the starters was the big story. All of them had more than 20 points, led by D'Angelo Russell with 30. (Rui Hachimura bounced back from a terrible game on Thursday, scoring 21 points on 9-13 from the floor.) Critically, the Lakers didn't turn the ball over - only seven on the night, including just one in the first half.
The news wasn't all great, as Max Christie missed the game with an ankle injury suffered in the loss to Denver Thursday, and the team is waiting for results from an MRI.
Ultimately, though, it was a very positive night. The Lakers get a win heading into a three-day break before their next game (Tuesday vs. Detroit) and gain a game on New Orleans in the Western Conference standings.

It started with the NBA's trade deadline. Over the last few days, it started to look more and more like the Lakers wouldn't be major players on Thursday. And it turned out, they weren't players of any kind. They didn't make a move at all. GM Rob Pelinka said the team worked hard to find a way to upgrade, but couldn't match the right player with the right price. "You can't buy a house that's not for sale," he said.
Should the Lakers have done more? Been willing to overpay? Could the inactivity influence what LeBron James does this summer? Was there an opportunity they missed?
One thing that's clear: Pelinka will have a ton of pressure on him this summer.
    Meanwhile...
There was also the unveiling of the Kobe Bryant statue. Or more precisely, the first of three Kobe Bryant statues that will eventually stand outside the arena. The ceremony was exactly as you'd expect - a well run, classy tribute (say whatever you want about the Lakers, they're good at this sort of thing) and a statue that looks great. It's a shame the Lakers couldn't pull off the comeback, because (wearing the Mamba uniforms, no less!) it would have been a perfect story.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers lose, but show some heart, vs. Denver.

SEGMENT 2: No moves for the Lakers at the deadline. What does that mean for Pelinka going forward?

    SEGMENT 3: The Kobe statue.

  • Much ado about nothing, in the end, though the writing was really on the wall.
The Lakers saw Thursday's NBA trade deadline come and go, and stood on the sidelines the entire time. The biggest names on the market, including Dejounte Murray, Bruce Brown and Dorian Finney-Smith, weren't traded anywhere. But a lot of smaller names shuffled around. Still, there wasn't, at least in the mind of Rob Pelinka, a player the Lakers could acquire that they felt was worth the asking price.
Are they right? Hard to know without knowing what deals they turned down. But they were limited, and ultimately decided that it was better to stand pat, and then engage on the buyout market (expected to be highlighted by Spencer Dinwiddie, who was traded to Toronto, and then released).
Disappointing for Lakers fans, and (probably) Lakers players? Yes, no question. But disappointing doesn't necessarily mean they made a mistake.
    We shall see...

  • Wednesday was a very quiet day on the NBA trade market. A couple minor deals, none of which had anything to do with the Lakers.
Meanwhile, those with their ears to the rumor mill seemed to come away with the feeling that the odds of a significant deal going down for the Lakers are diminishing. To some degree, that's a reflection of the market. There aren't a lot of high profile players left to deal. Dejounte Murray from the Hawks, still very much tied to the Lakers, is the headliner. After that, it's Bruce Brown? Pick a Bogdanovic? Some years the market is slow. This is one of them.
That won't keep people from reading as much into the tea leaves as possible, as evidenced by the online saga around D'Angelo Russell's... was it a surgery? A procedure? A treatment? There was suddenly a great deal of concern about how he was listed on the injury report... for a game happening after the deadline.
    'Tis the season.
So what happens if the Lakers don't make a deal? They obviously have areas where they can improve, but how much better can they get, even adding talent, if it means subtracting multiple players from the rotation? How much can they afford to "overpay," so to speak, in the interest of making a run this season? Is there anyone worth overpaying for?
Finally, it's a night fans have been looking towards for a while. Kobe Bryant's statue will be unveiled outside the arena ahead of Thursday's game. It will be a tremendously emotional night.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: It's deadline day, and the rumors are ... kinda stale. There's just not much action.

SEGMENT 2: What can/should the Lakers do? How do they balance this year against the upcoming offseason?

SEGMENT 3: Kobe Bryant statue night.

  • The NBA trade deadline is Thursday, and for the time being at least things are looking kinda quiet. The Lakers are still connected to just about every player on the market (Atlanta's Dejounte Murray, Toronto's Bruce Brown, Chicago's DeMar DeRozan, Brooklyn's forward combo of Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O'Neale) but that doesn't necessarily mean there will be much action.
It's a seller's market, and the prizes aren't automatically worth a major premium.
In a perfect world, the Lakers could add one of the players above without giving up a significant member of the rotation (or critical draft capital), but that's not the world in which we live. So will they make a deal for Murray, and send (likely) D'Angelo Russell packing (again)? Could they pull smaller deals to add depth and make a run basically with what they've got?
How aggressive should they be? On the one hand, they've got a little momentum, and have shown the ability to beat anyone. On the other... they're two games over .500, and while last year's surprise run showed anything can happen, last year and this year aren't mirror images.
It's tough being Rob Pelinka. The Lakers might only get one real swing at improving. Can they compromise offseason opportunities for (potentially limited) short term gain? How much pressure is LeBron James putting on the team? Is he even in position to do the leverage thing anymore?
Finally, Russell was unusually candid about his approach to the trade rumors that have followed him around basically since he inked his deal with the team last summer.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: With only a day or so left before the trade deadline, where do things stand?

SEGMENT 2: How aggressive should the Lakers be?

SEGMENT 3: D'Lo and the deadline.

  • It wasn't more than a week ago that things looked desperate for the Lakers. They lost in back-to-back blowouts, and their star players looked very, very shaky from a health standpoint.
Then they won in Boston, without LeBron James, Anthony Davis and (in the second half) Jarred Vanderbilt. Then they won in New York. And then Monday, they finished off the trip with a victory over the 10-win Hornets in Charlotte. Final score, 124-118.
And while the game got a little closer than the Lakers would have preferred in the fourth, the Lakers controlled it throughout, led by Anthony Davis. His scoring and rebounding has been there all year, but as of late AD's passing has also become a really big thing for the Lakers. Monday, he finished with a triple double -- 26 points, 15 rebounds, 11 assists, plus three blocks, on 12-16 shooting. He certainly wasn't the only contributor. D'Angelo Russell led the Lakers with 28 points. Austin Reaves pitched in with 11 dimes of his own. LeBron had 26 points.
The Lakers (27-25) are now two games over .500 for the first time since beating the Hornets on December 28.
And meanwhile, could the extent of the injury to Jarred Vanderbilt's foot be a little less than feared?

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers beat the Hornets, finish the trip 4-2.

SEGMENT 2: Russell makes a closing argument?

SEGMENT 3: Did Boston change the season? And might Vando's injury be... not quite so bad?

  • It's a very, very busy week in the NBA with the trade deadline coming up on the 8th. And, of course, that means the Lakers tied to any available player on the market, because that's how this works.
But while before the chatter was built mostly around Atlanta guard Dejounte Murray, the Lakers now have to fill a massive hole left by the injury to Jarred Vanderbilt. The Lakers now have a gaping hole to fill, in addition to any improvements they want to make in the backcourt, or anywhere else.
And the stuff they have available doesn't change. It's one pick, it's D'Angelo Russell, it's (maybe) Rui Hachimura and an injured Gabe Vincent, plus whatever appeal guys like Max Christie and Jalen Hood-Schifino might have.
So which holes do they try to fill? Do they keep more assets for this summer, roll the dice on this year and hope for the best?
It's not an easy time to be Rob Pelinka.
Meanwhile, one of the guys on the list of potential trade assets—Christie—was also one of their most impactful players in Saturday's win over the Knicks. Will Darvin Ham continue leaning heavily into the youngster for his defensive versatility (as well as some outside shooting) with Vanderbilt and Cam Reddish unavailable? Does the (new again) starting lineup mean that Rui Hachimura finally gets the PT Lakers fans have been clamoring for?
Saturday it made sense to play Taurean Prince... but that's not going to be the case every game.
Finally, what exactly was LeBron talking about with the hourglass emoji last week? And has he made any decisions around his player option for next year? The answer to the latter is no, and the former is "I'm not telling." Or so it was ahead of the game Saturday night.
So anything to read into either?

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers have a major hole to fill with Jarred Vanderbilt on the shelf.

SEGMENT 2: How should the Lakers try to address their shortcomings at the deadline. How do they prioritize?

SEGMENT 3: LeBron says a lot by saying very little.

  • Thursday in Boston, the Lakers shocked the NBA world, beating the Celtics without LeBron James or Anthony Davis, and with Jarred Vanderbilt missing the second half with a foot injury.
Saturday in New York, they had Davis and LeBron back (Vando will miss weeks, at least), facing a Knicks squad down Julius Randle and OG Onunoby, but nonetheless on a nine game win streak. It was a grind and it wasn't necessarily easy, but the Lakers played with the same level of defensive intensity and held New York to only 17 points in the fourth quarter, and pulled away to win TK-TK. In only one quarter did the Lakers surrender more than 27 points.
In today's NBA, that's quality work.
Darvin Ham, changed things up again in the lineup, starting Rui Hachimura to play large. Still, Taurean Prince played a ton of minutes in this one, related to where he slots defensively (and a solid 16 points on 6-10 from the floor). He was a contributor, as were LeBron (24/5/5/2/1), Austin Reaves (22 points, seven dimes, one TO) and and Max Christie (only six points, but played huge minutes defensively down the stretch).
But it was Davis, who finished with only 12 points, that really led LA's effort. His defensive presence was incredible, not just on the glass (18 rebounds) but also at the rim (four blocks).
With a win Monday in Charlotte, the Lakers can finish a road trip in a strong way after what was unquestionably a disastrous start.

  • On Thursday, the Lakers went into Boston without the services of Anthony Davis and LeBron James, and managed to come out with a fairly shocking win. Part of the underdog story, though, was the absence in the second half of forward Jarred Vanderbilt, who left the game late in the second quarter with an injury to his right foot.
News on the injury following the game was light. Negative x-rays (which frankly doesn't mean much, except nothing was broken), but not much else.
Friday, the news came, and it's not good. Vanderbilt will miss at several weeks at least, and possibly more as the team explores the full nature of the injury. It's a massive blow to a Lakers squad that has struggled all season to find defensive combinations that work, and particularly to replicate the skill set Vanderbilt brings. And he had just started to play his best basketball over the last couple of weeks.
Now, the Lakers have to figure out what to do going forward, especially with Cam Reddish, who played a modified Vanderbilt role earlier in the year when Vando was hurt, also on the shelf. How could this impact the rotation? LA's decision making process at the trade deadline?
There is much to discuss, and not much of it is happy.

  • According to our friends at FanDuel, the Lakers were double digit underdogs for Thursday's game in Boston, and that was BEFORE the news broke that Anthony Davis and LeBron James would both be out with injuries.
That bumped the line up over 15.
Whatever! The Lakers shocked the world, taking an early lead over the Celtics and never giving it up, winning 114-105 in a game that, for a night at least, changed the vibes around the team in a very positive way. Austin Reaves scored 32 points, and hit seven of his 10 3-pointers. D'Angelo Russell was only 5-20 from the floor, but 4-8 from downtown and contributed 14 assists and two steals. Jaxson Hayes had 16 points, 10 rebounds and (no, this is not a typo) zero fouls. None. In 34 minutes of burn.
Everyone who played contributed, as it had to be for the Lakers to pull the upset. Was it a little goofy statistically? Sure was! The Lakers shot 40 percent overall... and over 52% from 3. (Just to note one example.) But whatever. They were seriously undermanned, especially after Jarred Vanderbilt left just before the end of the first half with a foot injury. His status going forward is yet to be determined.
So the Lakers still have problems, no question. But for one night, at least, it was nothing but happiness.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers shock the NBA world.

SEGMENT 2: Reaves shines in a huge moment.

SEGMENT 3: Back to reality - Vando hurt.

  • For a while, it looked like the most important Tweet to come from a Laker Tuesday in Atlanta would be Christian Wood's, where he "lol"'d right after the Lakers announced a starting lineup that included Jaxson Hayes instead of him, filling in for Anthony Davis.
After the game, Wood said it was just a wayward QT. Nothing to see here.
    Nobody believed him.
But all of that was soon eclipsed by LeBron James, who simply sent out a near-empty hourglass. That clearly put people on notice. Was he talking about Darvin Ham, and losing patience with him? Reminding Rob Pelinka to take action, because the season is now running short and the Lakers (and LeBron himself, broadly) are nearly out of time?
    All of the above?
It's another indication things aren't right in El Segundo, and nobody is comfortable with it. It speaks to the disconnect between the locker room and Ham, and potentially the locker room and Pelinka. And it speaks to how challenging a situation the Lakers are in. There likely isn't a series of moves that can be made to transform this team in the same way the Westbrook deal (and the earlier one for Rui Hachimura) did last year's squad.
The most rapid path to change is firing the coach. And while it sucks to do it mid-season, if the gap between player and coach is as large as it currently seems, Ham isn't surviving this offseason, anyway. Better to pull the trigger now and see what happens? What about a trade? Dejounte Murray certainly won the battle between him and D'Lo in ATL. Would he improve the Lakers enough to make a deal worthwhile?

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers are rocked by an hourglass from LeBron James.

SEGMENT 2: Is firing Ham the fastest path to fixing the Lakers?

SEGMENT 3: Does Murray's game Tuesday make him more likely to be a Laker?

  • The Lakers were walloped in Houston Monday, and had to turn around Tuesday to play the Hawks in Atlanta. This time, though, they'd take the floor without Anthony Davis, who had to miss the game after aggravating his hip/groin injury.
    It didn't go well.
The Lakers were dominated by the Hawks, 138-122, a score that doesn't really capture how Atlanta controlled the game after the first seven minutes or so of the game. D'Angelo Russell played his worst game in a while -- bad timing considering he was up against Dejounte Murray, the Hawks guard rumored to be the apple of LA's eye in a trade that would send D'Lo... anywhere, really. Taurean Prince was... oof. Austin Reaves struggled to carry the load offensively while also checking Trae Young.
Save Jarred Vanderbilt (on offense at least) and Rui Hachimura, there wasn't much to cling to, here.
You even had Christian Wood possibly subtweeting Darvin Ham when he learned he wasn't starting. Wood denied it after the game... but I don't believe people are going to believe him.
LeBron James summed things up well after the game. The Lakers are capable of beating any team in the league on any night. They're also capable of getting their asses kicked by any team, on any night.
And now, are we back to Darvin Watch? After a brief uptick in performance, the Lakers are again regressing hard. Can they pull themselves out again?

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers get waxed in Atlanta.

SEGMENT 2: Are we back on Darvin Watch?

SEGMENT 3: Did Murray pass his audition?

  • The Lakers had a double overtime game in San Francisco, in which their primary players generally cracked the 40-minute barrier, or even significantly higher.
Anthony Davis aggravated the hip/groin thing that's been bugging him most of the year.
So it's no surprise the Lakers came out flat, especially defensively, in Monday's game against the Rockets. Stuff happens. Disappointing? Sure! But it happens. But while Lakers fans (understandably) focus on Darvin Ham's choices with the starting lineup, was Monday's game the dumbest he's coached this season?
Because in this game, where the Lakers were down by 30 five minutes into the third quarter, 39-year old LeBron James played deeeeeeeeep into the fourth. He played 37 minutes overall. And oh, the Lakers play tonight in Atlanta. All so the Lakers could cut the Houston lead to 10 with about four minutes to play... leaving them with a 2% chance of winning, according to ESPN's win tracker.
    Coaching malpractice.
Will it cost the Lakers tonight in Atlanta? They'd better hope not, because at 24-24 and games against the Knicks and Celtics coming up, a loss in Atlanta would be problematic, to say the least.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers suffer a loss in Houston that was created by a season's worth of mediocre play.

SEGMENT 2: Was this Darvin's dumbest game of the year?

SEGMENT 3: Seriously, what was Darvin thinking?

  • In the wake of Saturday's ultra-intense, ultra-exciting double OT win over Golden State in San Francisco, there was plenty to discuss. The superlative performances of LeBron James and Stephon Curry. The continued excellent play, including one of the most shockingly ballsy 3-pointers in recent history, from D'Angelo Russell.
And, of course, the incredible shot in the arm provided by Jarred Vanderbilt.
But most prominent among Lakers fans was probably the combinations in which all of those players were used. Darvin Ham finally seemed to lean into last year's post-deadline starting lineup. The one that helped propel the Lakers to a Western Conference Finals appearance, and that (until Thursday against Chicago ) had not, for all intents and purposes played together.
That changed Saturday, and the Lakers clearly benefitted from the change. On the season, in very limited minutes, that lineup of LeBron and Anthony Davis, plus Russell, Reaves and Jarred Vanderbilt, is a plus-30 net rating in 30 minutes on the court. Last year, this group was well above water, too. Would Ham change the starting lineup in the face of this success, and send Taurean Prince to the bench? Failing that, is he willing to start decreasing Prince's minutes in an effort to bump an obviously effective and very much in the groove Vando?
Meanwhile, D'Angelo Russell is making Rob Pelinka's job much more complicated.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: Holy bleep, Saturday was a fun game.

SEGMENT 2: Has Darvin Ham finally discovered (rediscovered, really) his "lineup of death?"

SEGMENT 3: The Lakers have a hard choice to make about D'Angelo Russell, who continues to play well.
