  • In this episode Darren Butler and Transition Year students from Colaiste Cois Siuire who are leaving their mark on their community, they gathered questions as part of a Mooncoin Parish Drug Awareness Programme from their fellow students to compliment the ongoing work of the teachers and will be part of the Information & Education module we will complete with the Transition Year in 2023.

    The questions range from signs of addiction to why do people take drugs? And many more interesting questions in between. The Podcast is part of the ongoing work of the Mooncoin Drug Initiative.

  • In this episode, Darren Butler from the Irish bishops drugs initiative is joined by Gwen McKenna of the Family Addiction Support Network, Dundalk. They talk about the work of the family addiction support network, how Gwenn became involved after her own family experience of drug addiction, the very serious problem of intimidation that has crept into the drug-taking community and the changing landscape of drug addiction in Ireland.

    Family Addiction Support Network

    The Family Addiction Support Network (FASN) understand that there are large numbers of families affected by drug use living in the North East Region area yet they believe that the amount of family members availing of support is relatively low. As a Network they are developing an open, friendly, accessible and non-judgemental family support service so that no family has to live with the isolation that drug use can bring.

  • In this episode Darren Butler and Michael Murphy will discuss the Venerable Matt Talbot and how his story has reached many parts of the world. We’ll learn about the Matt Talbot Addiction Recovery Group at Collon, County Louth and their plans for a new Recovery Café. After the break, Darren will be joined by Deacon John Taffe to discuss his experience of working with people in addiction and the effects on families. We’ll explore how faith can play a part in recovery from addiction and we’ll learn about the Oasis of Peace Centre and how it came about. We’ll find out what is available for people to attend in person or online.
