  • You are no doubt familiar with comedian Frank Caliendo’s work. You have seen him on the Fox Network, Mad TV, Fox NFL Sunday, Frank TV on TBS and more. His impressions of John Madden, President Donald Trump, Jeff Goldblum, Ted Knight, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neesen, and countless others have also made him a semi-regular on The Bob and Tom Show.

On the podcast today we find out how Frank is changing his stand up act to be more Frank Caliendo and less impressions. Finding your voice isn't always easy.

For Frank, his journey has included acting lessons and telling more personal stories about his wife and two kids. We also learn how Frank got his start in comedy, his first big break, his love of table tennis, future acting roles and so much more.

Frank Caliendo has plenty to say as “Frank” and I was engrossed. I think you will be too! Enjoy!

  • Not sure why I gave this show the Summer Lovin’ title, except it was a summer night and Britt, Tiffany and I tackled all kinds of topics including love. All kinds of love; self love, royal love (royal wedding), relationship love, fantasy love, you get the idea.

We also discuss dieting and how Britt likes her food “on fire” literally! Have you ever heard of a drama eater? Me either, we learn about that in this episode.

And for some bizarre reason we shared ideas for our own funerals. Other topics I had jotted down in my notes with no other explanations include: Body Holiday in St. Lucia, Handmaids Tale, Fortnite the video game, poison ivy, 4th of July, online dating, movies, and the Thai rescue operation.

I hope we touched on something you have to hear more about! Cheers!

  • Try interviewing two Indy Car drivers when one of them is from Columbia and Columbia is taking on England in the World Cup on the TV above your head! I had the honor of doing just that with todays show featuring two time INDY 500 winner Al Unser Jr and INDY car driver Gabby Chaves.

While Gabby may be teaching Al a thing or two about soccer, Al is being paid to coach Gabby in everything racing. After retiring from a successful driving career, Al Unser Jr is now employed by Harding Racing. And for Al it’s a dream come true.

His new career finds him wearing all kinds of different hats, coach, obtaining sponsorships, helping in the shop, consultant almost anything asked of him except actually driving the car.

This lively banter between the two drivers is full of April Fools Day pranks, drones, road rage, oddest vehicle ever raced, death defying pace car laps with Bob, Tom, me and Al around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and more.

Plus you may even be inspired by the touching story of Al’s daughter Cody and her life changing foundation. All in all a great ride!

    Enjoy!

  • From a small town in southern Indiana to opening for Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban, Clayton Anderson is taking on country music.

It hasn’t been an easy battle and he continues to fight but Clayton has the talent, drive and likability to make it big! Although he didn’t pick up a guitar until his senior year in high school he learned fast.

He started a band while attending Indiana University in Bloomington but after college started working in the “real world” at a mortgage company and in landscaping.

Entering the Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star battle-of-the-bands contest changed everything. He won the Cincinnati round in 2008 and opened for Kenny at the Riverbend Music Center. He shares a bit of what it was like backstage that night complete with a Leann Rimes sighting.

Afterwards he was officially bitten by the music bug and moved to Nashville to pursue a career. This naive young man arrived in 2009 with a dream and a lot of determination. After a few years of hitting the pavement, writing songs and dropping off CDs all over Nashville he released his first album “Torn Jeans & Tailgates” in 2011.

We are so lucky to have Clayton perform for us live “Only to Borrow” off that album. He has continued to write and record and treats us to another live tune “Your Love is Like Country Music”.

Learn what it takes to make it in the world of music from writing, performing and marketing yourself as an artist. A man with a heart of gold and a bushel full of talent, catch him on tour!

  • If you grew up in Central Indiana in the 70’s and 80’s you probably listened to WNAP. Cris Connor and his band of rebel “djs” changed the radio landscape and left a mark on many a listener. I would be one.

I was in high school when I first heard “the Wrath of the Buzzard”. It was in your face, loud, exciting, topical, and the music: free form. It sounded like their parents were gone for the weekend and they could get away with anything, and they did.

I was fortunate to sit down in the Bob & Tom studios with a few of the major players recently: Cris Connor, Fast Freddy Fever, Bruce Munson, Ann Craig and Buster Bodine. Talk about stories.

We find out how all of this madness started, how each player came to be a part of the station, the beginning of the legendary Raft Race, and some promotions that may not have been so successful.

Also favorite memories from each of our guests. One involves death and another a carpet square (guess which jock carried his own carpet square).

We also discuss other great jocks who honed their skills at the controls of 93.1 The Buzzard.

This show was so much fun and a dream come true for this gal. I am proud to say I did join the ranks of the Buzzard in 1981 albeit part time. So now, not only can I say I was on the staff I can also call these talented folks my friends!

  • After spending many years in the corporate world jewelry designer Judi Powers was ready for a change. She enrolled in a jewelry making class in 2002 and found her true passion.

Judi has taken classes at 92Y, Jewelry Arts Institute, S.V.A. (School of Visual Arts in NYC), Brooklyn Metal Works and Studio Jewelers. In 2013 she earned her AAS Degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Jewelry Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

I had a chance to meet her recently and we discussed what it takes to make a HUGE career change after almost 20 years in marketing. I was also fascinated with Judi’s choice of materials. Working with a lot of raw stones and unusual gemstones like dendritic agate her work is quite unique.

Learn about sustainability in jewelry and why she chooses materials like green gold. Inspired by nature and her grandmother Judi’s story is an inspiration for all and a great lesson on where jewelry actually comes from and how labor intensive some work can be.

Take a look at her website and be awed by her talent. Complete disclosure, I ended up buying one of her rings and I haven’t taken it off!

  • As a doctor in human sexuality Sadie Allison has spent her career helping others find pleasure. What started as “free” advice in high school has led to her authoring 7 books and a thriving online retail store for adult “novelties”.

Sadie shares with us how her mission began to help others in the bedroom. With the help of shows like Sex in the City the topic of pleasure is a bit less taboo. And Sadie has much to say about it.

She will share some of the interesting things she has discovered in her research: The most important sex organ on a woman, the difference between love and “just sex”, how communication is critical and many more topics that I simply can’t put into text.

You might learn something that jump starts your love life. A bit of an audio tickle, if you will.

  • Karma, Dharma, Dali Lama, Free Will, Unconditional Love just a few of the terms we will cover on this weeks show.

Marilene is a world renowned clairvoyant, intuitive therapist, spiritual healer and a long time friend. Her career includes features on popular radio programs including Chick McGee’s Podcast and documentaries. She has also hosted multiple radio and television shows.

She actually shares a story about meeting Ted Turner and his hopes for a 24hr “good news” network. The basis of THIS show however is change. Not to be afraid of it. Embrace the new while letting go of fear.

Marilene recently moved from Indiana to Los Angeles California, a major upheaval rather late in life. She shares what it is like to make such a change and why.

We also discuss all of the words you see at the top of this page. Do you believe in past lives? Marilene has a great story about one of hers. And no conversation between the two of us would be complete without reliving our Dali Lama experience complete with Steven Seagal!

And Marilene even sees a love match for me this summer. I hope you enjoy this hour as much as we did bringing it to you.

  • We are scratching the surface on a tough topic in this episode, Opioids and Heroin addiction with Indiana State Senator Jim Merritt.

Senator Merritt has undertaken the huge job of trying to kill heroin use in 5 years in his state of Indiana. He is 2 years into his fight and we talk about how far he has come and how much work still needs to be done.

The opioid/heroin epidemic has hit almost all of us. No matter your race, economic status, religion, age we all know someone who has been hit with this sweeping disease. I call it a disease for a reason. Addiction is an illness it is NOT a character flaw. Let’s loose the stigmas attached to the word “addiction” and start helping people.

That’s Senator Merritt’s message and he shares many useful tools. Including; prevention/education, treatment programs, going after drug lords, updated drug teams to assist after an overdose in hospitals, alternate medicines and devices to block pain receptors, and even clean needle exchange programs.

There is no clear cut answer to this epidemic but at least we are opening up a conversation and getting some new information out there that may help. Find out how you can make a difference. We need you!

  • Kristi has alluded to the fact that her mom has recently gone through a difficult time and that has meant an increase in her time away from the podcast. Plus we are honoring Morty's Comedy Joint, which always holds a special place in our heart because it hosted the first Kristi Lee Uninterrupted Live Show (and all the subsequent live shows). It is in forced relocation mode and has closed until the end to middle of Summer.

So what better throwback episode than the time we went live with Jimmy 'Mad Dog' Matis and talked early Bob & Tom, the time he fought a bear, avoided his wife and more.

    --------------------------

Jimmy may be a funny guy but he is happy and content with his life after 25 years with Q95 and the Bob and Tom Show. He now works for the Indianapolis Colts securing sponsors and doing off-season radio. But most of all, he feels blessed with a wife of 30 years and five boys. He enjoys entertaining in his pool house and whiffle ball field.

Jimmy Matis (aka Dog) joins Kristi Lee live at Morty’s Comedy Joint to reminisce about the old days of the Bob and Tom Show, along with the wild and crazy times...road trips, excursions in the Bahamas, singing backup, among many more.

What happens when George Lopez, Chick McGee, and Jimmy ‘Mad Dog’ Matis hang out in Tijuana? Find out on this live version of Kristi Lee Uninterrupted. If you’re into Bob and Tom history, then you’ll love this show.

  • I have known our guest this week for many years. Going back to his first appearance on The Bob & Tom Show and then again on the road with The Bob & Tom Comedy Tour.

Auggie Smith has changed a lot. The man who exposed me to the wonders of a good chocolate martini and could party until it was time to catch a plane in the morning is now all grown up.

He is the proud father of two lovely children and the husband of one. His comedy has grown up too. He now thinks about his audience and the time and trouble it took them to get to a show, not about himself. Thus making for a more entertaining experience.

Auggie grew up with a single mom in Billings Montana. He excelled at speech and public speaking and had a teacher who suggested standup. His career really took off after moving to Portland Oregon and after doing The Bob & Tom Show.

We will learn about those early days and how comedy has played a major role in his life on and off the stage. I love the last line of my notes from this interview: The Story of Auggie Smith: The Bob & Tom Show, Being Positive, Most of Life is Good and Kindness!

Pretty much sums it up! Have fun!

  • Who doesn’t love an inspirational story? My guest this week has an incredible story.

Loni Love started working on the line in a GM plant in Detroit while still in high school. There she found a passion for electrical engineering, which landed her a scholarship to Prairie View A&M University in Texas.

While in Texas, she took the stage for the first time and fell in love with stand-up comedy, routinely getting gigs throughout college. Upon graduation, Love landed an engineering job in California and headed west to pursue her dream.

She became a regular at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, was selected for prestigious comedy festivals and was a finalist on the CBS revived Star Search.

Not only is she still touring the country as one of the nations top stand up acts. She is also seen on THE REAL a daily, one-hour Emmy® nominated talk show on Fox Television Stations and in national syndication.

Along with co-hosts, Tamara Mowry-Housley, Jeannie May and Adrienne Houghton, Loni discusses topics on the show ranging from their personal lives to the news of the day to beauty, fashion and relationships.

Not only do we discuss THE REAL we also learn about her comedic heroes, road stories, and more. Loni told me she feels that her comedy shows are a celebration and that's how I feel about this episode.

    Loni Love we celebrate you!

  • There are so many talented people occupying this planet. On a recent Friday I was able to sit down with 3.

Debra Fadely-Raber, Laura LaForge and Jodie Bailey represent just a few of the contributors to the Stutz Artists Open House April 27th and 28th in downtown Indianapolis.

Each of these women has a specialty. Debra happens to be a photographer who likes to shoot many different things. She is married to photographer Kevin Raber and they had the most unusual wedding, surrounded by penguins in Antartica!

Jodie is a visual artist who mainly works as a sculptor and hat maker. We are not talking your boring fedora. No, her creations are definitely works of art. Often times she uses unusual items like pencils or pages from a journal to craft a chapeau! (chapeau=hat in french) and Laura is an amazing painter.

Each of these women talk about the importance of art and art education, how they got started, how you can become a collector (all budgets) and of course the event.

The 25th Anniversary Stutz Artists Open House will be held Friday April 27th and Saturday April 28th with a VIP event on Thursday April 26th. The Stutz Business and Arts Center is located at 212 West 10th Street on the full city block between 10th and 11th Streets, between Capitol and Senate in downtown Indianapolis Indiana.

The two-day event celebrates the 25th year the Stutz artists have welcomed guests to their studios where they work all year long. The artists and building will be decked out in silver to celebrate the anniversary. Each artist is creating a work of art inspired by silver to be featured in their studio.

  • For those of you familiar with Britt, Tiffany and I getting together on a semi-regular basis then this weeks show will not be a surprise.

If you are new, hang on!

A recent Friday evening found the three of us in Tiffany's beautiful new kitchen sipping wine. Out of the gate Britt starts with her “waxing” adventure since she is about to go on Spring Break. That leads to a discussion on underwear and one of Tiffany's most embarrassing moments.

We also learn the interesting way Tiff uses to get her son to brush his teeth. I have to admit I was stunned!

We discuss elderly parents, grandparent names and then switch gears to Millennials.

Katy, our social media queen steps up to the mic to talk about her peers and what it is like to be a hard working young person with her own business.

Tiffany and I relive our trip to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah and how a documentary changed how we shop. I am not sure how the show ends except that we headed out (Uber) to see comedian Joel McHale at a local comedy club and Britt was nearly thrown out.

Like I said earlier hang on…

  • On a recent Saturday I was lucky enough to sit down with one of my comedic heroes, Jimmy Pardo. Jimmy has appeared on “The Tonight Show”, “Conan”, “ The Late, Late, Show” and had his own special on “Comedy Central”.

His signature crowd work (go see him LIVE!) led him to be Conan’s opening act at show tapings for the past several years. Along with field correspondent work and even co-hosting duties on Conan, Jimmy has also hosted numerous shows and specials for the Game Show Network, Science Channel, VH-1, AMC, NBC and more.

With so much to talk about I actually steered Jimmy to his outstanding podcast, “Never Not Funny”. An award winning podcast that started in the infancy of podcasting, way back in 2006!

Find out why he started, who his dream guests are, and why he used his podcast to deal with a couple of very personal heartbreaks.

He has also started the Podcast-a-Thon fundraiser for the charity “Smile Train”. This 12 hour marathon webcast has raised over a half a million dollars to help children born with cleft lips and palates.(smiletrain.org).

Of course we talk stand up too. How he writes jokes, his style, and the early days. Jimmy and his wife Danielle are also the proud parents of young Oliver. The son of two entertainers who appears to be destined for a life in show business. If Oliver’s school talent show is any indication Frank Caliendo and Kevin Pollack may have some competition.

I hope you enjoy this show as much as I enjoyed bringing it to you. I can not underscore enough how much I love the talented Mr. Pardo.

  • Acclaimed artist Nancy Noel fought undiagnosed dyslexia as a child and was told by a teacher in 8th grade “she would be nothing”. Fortunately for art lovers everywhere Nancy was not swayed.

  • Greg Warren is no stranger to Bob and Tom Show fans. “Fluteman” Greg has made numerous appearance on our show and on comedy stages across the country.

Hailing from St. Louis, MO, Greg was a two time state high school wrestling champion and an All American in college. His many years spent on the mat also inspired one of his more famous stand up routines, Fluteman.

We learn how his teammates and coaches played a big part in his early comedy career. One that did not begin right out of college. After 10 years Greg left a job in sales at Proctor and Gamble to “gamble” on a career behind the mic. One that paid off well.

He has since been featured on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central Presents, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, BET and CMT.

As you can imagine we talk wrestling, making weight, Pringles, living in LA, food, and of course comedy on this episode. Recorded in the lobby of his swanky hotel in Bloomington, IN. Please enjoy!

  • We all know racing families like Unser, Andretti, and Foyt. What happens when you don’t come from one of those families or have the means to get a “ride” in the million dollar sport of auto racing? Kristian Aleixo shares with us the struggles of being an up and coming professional race car driver.

His drive and inspiration is impressive. Kristian suffered through the loss of his mother at an early age, was haphazardly raised by an absentee father and even spent 75% of his high school years homeless. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army. This Iraq War Veteran and 2 time U.S. Army Commendation Medal recipient had hopes of becoming an AH-64 Apache helicopter pilot. That dream was shattered with a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes, the same illness that took his mom.

Kristian would not take this set back lying down. He took the skills that made him a top pilot candidate and focused them on his life long dream of racing. With no money and no training Kristian got resourceful and called around to race tracks looking for someone to teach him.

A man in California offered to help in exchange for working at his track. With the proper accreditation he is now building his resume with the ultimate payoff being a ride in the Indianapolis 500! He also works for Sharp Entertainment as a television personality and is the author of “My Life in Story: The Outside Groove”.

Trust me Kristians enthusiasm is catchy!

  • Multi-talented performer Henry Phillips grew up on the outskirts of Los Angeles in a pretty normal suburban neighborhood with parents who are both actors. An accomplished touring stand up comic with critically acclaimed comedy albums.

Henry’s career actually started as a singer/songwriter. We find out how he morphed that into a stand up act. Growing up so close to Hollywood it was not a surprise that he would someday venture into filmmaking. With a small budget and a few friends in the business Henry produced and starred in his own film “Punching the Clown” which was released in 2009. A semi-autobiographical film about a comedian trying to make a career in stand up which won rave reviews. The journey to the big screen is a story in and of it self.

After winning awards at Slamdance (the Alternative film festival to Sundance) and ending up on Netflix Henry started to get noticed by industry people. That led to a second film, Punching Henry in 2017 which is appearing now on Showtime. This time around some heavy hitters were involved including Oscar winning actor JK Simmons and comedian/actress Sarah Silverman. Learn how they were talked into the movie and we get a funny story from the red carpet premiere.

Henry isn’t through making movies either. He talks about a new film he wants to make surrounding open mic music nights in the early 90’s. He has also had success on the small screen. His “Henry’s Kitchen” videos are a YouTube favorite and have spawned a Patreon following.

And then there is coffee. Much of his life surrounds coffee which has made for some rather interesting encounters. One particular story involves comedian, actor, producer Mike Birbiglia and an explosion!

Top off all of this talent with music. A love that started as an 8yr old and found Henry practicing the guitar for up to 4 hours a day. A rather accomplished musician, Henry shares his musical heroes and more.

The soft spoken Henry Phillips has a charm unlike any other person I have ever met. After listening I think you will agree!

  • Drew Storen is one of only 6% of athletes who sign a deal to play baseball to make into the “Big Leagues”. As a relief pitcher he has played for the Washington Nationals, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners and the Cincinnati Reds.

Currently he is rehabbing successful Tommy John Surgery and hopes to be pitching again in 2019. He sits down with me and talks about how he beat the odds and become one of the 6%. Find out what his best experience to date has been in the majors. Learn what city is his favorite to pitch in, favorite ballpark and what “other” famous athlete was at Stanford the same time as Drew.

An ambitious young man learn about his plans for after his career on the field is over. And with all of my podcasts we then venture off into some other areas of interest. Drew happens to be a big car guy. So of course we talk cars! He enjoys painting, on canvas, not houses!

He also happens to have a fascination with the military. A chance encounter with a baseball fan who lived in his neighborhood while in D.C. fed that interest. The fan turned out to be the legendary Navy pilot Chuck “Heater” Heatley. The F-14 pilot, Top Gun instructor, and photographer was an inspiration for the movie Top Gun. (Check out Heaters book, “Cutting Edge” it came out in 1986 but has amazing shots from his fighter jet.) Drew has even flown an F-16 simulator!

From here we talk memorabilia and his treasured collectibles. And I couldn't resist asking him if he does impressions like his famous dad, sportscaster and former Bob and Tom Show member Mark Patrick.

All in all a fascinating talk with a talented, interesting, and likable young man.
