  • In this episode we tune in to hear from perfumer Julie Massé and design duo Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of FormaFantasma to explore the design and craft behind the collection Olfactory Series 1.

During Milan Design Week 2025, Jil Sander hosted an exclusive event at its Milan Flagship in Via Verri 6. Immersed in a bespoke installation, guests explored the design and craft behind the new Olfactory Series 1 collection of fragrances. The Olfactory Series 1 fuses botany and technology in six minimalist, unisex formulas in which the olfactory marks of aldehydes cut across key natural ingredients, giving every unique fragrance shapes and volumes. Perfectly aligned with the quietly disruptive character of the collection, the bottle was conceived with design studio Formafantasma. The goal was to push an artisanal approach and feeling into an industrial process, fusing high craft and advanced production technologies, breaking the codes of traditional glassmaking.

In this fifth and final episode, speakers draw on the 1925 International Decorative and Industrial Modern Arts exhibition in Paris to discuss the significance of temporary architectures and their historical context. The conversation, which references the Wiener Werkstätte, Burrichter’s 2015 show at the Swiss Institute and Perron’s design for this year’s Matter and Shape pavilion, emphasises the ephemeral yet lasting influence of these structures on architecture and design.
