Coachella WHO? Taylor Swift WHO? This weekend may have some big music events happening, but women in the festival space, in particular, owe a lot to Sarah McLachlan. Yes, you read that right! While flawed in execution, Lilith Fair was a WOMEN ONLY music festival - the first of its kind - launched in the late 90s. Despite being short-lived, it revolutionized the music industry and left a cultural impact that remains poignant today. I am fortunate that the internet brought Tori Alamaze to me. You may know her as the ORIGINAL recording artist of the song "Don't Cha", made famous by the Pussycat Dolls, but she is so much more than that. Tori walks me through her journey of starting out as a Makeup Artist to the stars into singing backup on tour with OutKast and then launching her own solo career with her first major-label single, "Don't Cha". Tori details how she found out that her song had been plucked and given to PCD and how it changed her life. But that's not the end for her! Since then, she has started a family, authored two books, and coached other mothers to find their purpose outside of their roles as mothers. Tori is now signed to a major label and has released two EPs since 2021. I promise you don't want to miss out on this special episode!
