Lauri Markkanen hit three free throws with 4.6 seconds left in overtime to give Utah the lead and finished with 43 points and 10 rebounds as the Jazz beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 120-119 on Thursday night.
Markkanen scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Jazz rally from a nine-point deficit early in the period. Walker Kessler tipped in a layup with 4.6 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Jordan Clarkson added 24 points and six assists for Utah. Kessler had 18 rebounds, Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji chipped in 12 points apiece, and Kris Dunn added 11 in his Jazz debut.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 39 points and missed a potential game-winning jumper at the overtime buzzer for the Thunder. He also had eight rebounds and seven assists. Josh Giddey added 18 points and 11 rebounds, Kenrich Williams had 16 points off the bench, and Lu Dort contributed 11 points and 11 boards.
Utah played without starting point guard Collin Sexton, who has a left hamstring injury. Talen Horton-Tucker made his second start of the season.
The Thunder forced 22 turnovers and scored 20 points off them.
The Jazz never led in the fourth quarter, but Markkanen tied it on a layup with 1:26 remaining. Oklahoma City again jumped out to a lead in overtime and maintained its advantage until Markkanen was fouled on a 3-point attempt in the closing seconds and made his free throws.
Oklahoma City ended the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 55-46 halftime lead. Jaylin Williams started the run with a 3-pointer and Kenrich Williams finished it off with a reverse layup.
Clarkson scored or assisted on Utah's first six baskets in the second half and cut the deficit to 68-66 on a fadeaway jumper. The Thunder stopped the rally and built their only double-digit lead, going up 84-74 when Giddey drove for a reverse layup to cap a 10-3 run.

The Jazz and Westbrook have met and had multiple productive discussions surrounding his impending future as a member of the Jazz organization. As the Jazz start a four-game road trip on Friday night in Toronto against the Raptors, there hasn’t been a decision made concerning Westbrook. But Westbrook, who came to the Jazz from the Lakers and has had a Hall of Fame career, has expressed a willingness to stay in Utah and put on a uniform.
“We are open to every possibility,” Jazz general manager Justin Zanik said on Friday afternoon.
The Jazz have made it a point to be transparent on where they are as an organization, and to put the proverbial ball in Westbrook’s court. They respect what Westbrook has been able to accomplish as a player. So in meetings with his representation, including agent Jeff Schwartz, they wanted to give Westbrook a say and some control over what happens next in his process as a player. -Tony Jones
TORONTO (AP) Lauri Markkanen and Will Kessler each scored 23 points, Collin Sexton had 22 and the Utah Jazz overcame a 12-point deficit in the final five minutes to beat the Toronto Raptors 122-116 on Friday night and snap a three-game losing streak. Kelly Olynyk scored 15 points and former Raptor Rudy Gay had 12 for the Jazz, who won despite shooting 6 for 24 from 3-point range, matching a season low. Utah also made six 3-pointers in a Feb. 6 loss to Dallas. Pascal Siakam scored 35 points, topping 30 for the second straight game, but Toronto couldn't extend its three-game winning streak. The Raptors have not won four straight at any point this season.

The Mavericks acquired the eight-time All-Star along with Markieff Morris from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2029 first-round pick and two future second-round picks. Irving and Morris arrived in Dallas on Monday to undergo physicals and were not available for the game. But their new team rallied behind Green, who averages 8.1 points, and Hardy, who scores 5.6 per game. When Green was on the court, the Mavericks outscored the Jazz by an astonishing 39 points and won their first game in eight tries without Doncic, their leading scorer with 33.4 points a game. Doncic (heel bruise) missed his third game in 10 days. The Jazz beat the Mavs 108-100 on Jan. 28, when the Slovenian star was out with a sprained ankle. This time the Mavericks bested the Jazz in nearly hustle category, including a 49-37 advantage on the boards. After scoring 12 total points over six games, Hardy broke out for his career night and Dwight Powell added 12 points and a career-best 16 rebounds. Jordan Clarkson paced Utah with 26 points on 7-for-19 shooting and Lauri Markkanen added 19 - the first time he has failed to reach 20 points in the last 21 games. The Jazz are now 7-5 on a stretch where they're playing 11 of 13 games at home, when they hoped to gain ground on teams like Dallas, but are now two games behind the Mavs. The Jazz struggle when their 3s aren't falling and they often fail to get back on defense. The upstart Mavs led the Jazz 27-4 on fast break points. As could be expected with different rotations and the end of the bench getting significant minutes, the Mavericks looked out of sync at times. But they started running at every opportunity and went on a 23-6 run bridging the second and third quarters to take a 75-66 lead. Toronto's Fred VanVleet had his second career triple-double with 34 points, a career-best 12 rebounds and 10 assists, but the Jazz overcame that effort by shooting 53% and making key play after key play down the stretch. Conley, who had 19 points and eight assists, drew Pascal Siakam's sixth foul on a head fake and completed a three-point play to give the Jazz a 120-113 lead with 2:13 remaining. VanVleet kept the Raptors close with his 3-point shooting, but the Raptors couldn't complete the comeback effort. Conley' hit two free throws with 12.2 seconds left to seal the win and the Jazz who moved above .500 at 27-26. Jordan Clarkson scored seven of his 23 points in the final 1:39 and Walker Kessler added 17 points, 14 rebounds and matched a career-best with seven blocked shots for Utah, which has won five of its last seven games. Siakam scored 21 before fouling out, Gary Trent Jr. had 20 points and the Raptors stayed in the game with a season-high with 25 offensive rebounds. Kessler had NBA season-best six blocked shots in the first quarter, tying the franchise record that Mark Eaton set on Feb. 18, 1989, against San Antonio. Lillard has moved into seventh place on the all-time 3-pointers list and is taking aim at sixth-place Vince Carter when the Portland Trail Blazers host the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. Lillard made seven 3-pointers in Portland's 147-127 rout of the visiting San Antonio Spurs on Monday to raise his career total to 2,283, one more than Jason Terry. Another game with seven would allow Lillard to tie Carter. "Obviously, you've got to be a shooter to make that many, but I've taken a lot of them," said Lillard, a six-time All-Star. "I'm just thankful for the opportunity to play with the freedom I have over the last 11 years. To be able to take the tough ones, to take some bad ones and some deep ones. I've worked on my game enough to know when I shoot, I make a pretty decent percentage of them." Lillard has made 140 3-pointers while averaging 29.3 points in 35 games this season. And while he moves up the bombers' list, Lillard would like to see the Trail Blazers move up in the standings. The victory over the Spurs was just the fifth in the last 17 games for Portland. The Trail Blazers entered Tuesday's play in a tie for 12th in the Western Conference. Lauri Markkanen had 25 points and 16 rebounds against his former team the Jazz. Malik Beasley, Mike Conley, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 13 apiece as Utah won for just the second time in nine games. Darius Garland added 21 points and six assists for Cleveland in this one. Evan Mobley and Caris LeVert chipped in 12 points apiece. Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen played only seven minutes - all in the first quarter - before exiting with an illness. Cavaliers: Kevin Love grabbed nine rebounds, passing Anderson Varejao for sixth place on Cleveland's career list. With the Cleveland Cavaliers visiting Utah on Tuesday night, there will be a lot of attention surrounding a former Jazz guard, one who was quite popular with the fans. This refers to Raul Neto? Ricky Rubio? Not exactly. Ready or not, Jazz fans. Donovan Mitchell is returning to town for the first time since he was traded away last summer. Considering recent remarks he has made about enjoying Cleveland more than Salt Lake City, it seems some Shakespearian sports drama may accompany Mitchell's visit. The question for some Jazz fans my be: To boo, or not to boo? Outwardly, Jazz owner Ryan Smith and CEO Danny Ainge say they eagerly await his return and continue to root for the All-Star, whom they dealt for a treasure trove of players and draft picks when they decided to break up the Mitchell-Rudy Gobert pairing. "I think everyone should celebrate," Smith told 97.5 The KSL Sports Zone radio. "We forget quickly that this is a kid that came out and pumped life into this franchise and gave everyone all these memories."
Ainge concurs about Mitchell, who averaged 23.9 points during his first five NBA seasons in Utah. Mitchell is having his best year yet with Cleveland, scoring a career-high 28.8 points per game on 48.8% shooting. "It's a great story, he's continuing to get better. I remain a great, great fan of Donovan's," Ainge told KSL-TV. "I wish him nothing but the best, and I hope that people receive him with great enthusiasm and energy, and he deserves that." Cleveland comes into Utah having won four of its last five games, including two wins over the Phoenix Suns. Jan. 2 proved a historic night for Mitchell, who sparked the Cavaliers to an overtime win over Chicago by scoring 71 points, with 11 assists and eight rebounds.
