In this episode, Matt and John catch up with Daniel Cantu. Daniel played at USF from 2019-2023 as a 1B/OF. During the 2021 season, Daniel helped the Bulls win their first conference tournament championship since 1995 and he was named the Most Outstanding Player of that tournament. He also helped the Bulls make it to the school’s first ever Super-Regional that year. He had 1 year of baseball eligibility left (due to COVID) after he graduated from USF in 2023 with a degree in Health Sciences and decided to take his talents to Tallahassee for a 1 year stint with FSU. During this past season, he helped the Noles earn a top 8 national seed and a trip to Omaha as their starting first baseman. Here’s what the guys talked about:

Brad (age 24) is having a breakout season and has one of the lowest ERAs in all of minor league baseball (2.11 ERA in 111 IP). In today’s episode Mark sits down with USF Baseball alum, Jarrett Eaton (2021-2022). Jarrett helped the Bulls make it to their first ever NCAA Super-Regional in 2021. During the 11 postseason games that season, Jarrett batted .368 with a .968 OPS and 9 RBIs. In the Regional Championship game vs. South Alabama which the Bulls won 6-4, he went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs.
Topics discussed in today’s show include what Jarrett has been up to since his USF playing days, the hiring of Mitch Hannahs as USF Baseball’s new Head Coach, and the College World Series in Omaha which is starting this weekend. Jarrett played in Omaha as a freshman with Auburn in 2019 and we talked about what it’s like to be there from a player’s perspective.
