In episode 115 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield explore the long-running mysterious relationship between actor/writers Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak. First, we read for the rolling stone himself and see a free thinking, adventure-oriented and religious minded Sagittarius rising. Adding a Taurus stellium in the fifth house, creativity and legacy was always going to be part of his story. His flirty Gemini Venus gives him that trickster wit, but a Mercury/Neptune square makes it hard to be understood.
Then we look into Sara’s chart and see raw power coming from an intense, Eclipsed Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus. We also see a square from Pluto to those planets denoting a life of deep, transformational experiences. First, we look at Ava’s chart and see a glamorous Leo Rising with a hardworking/ humble-beginnings Capricorn Sun. Along with a Mercury/Pluto opposition, we know that she worked very hard to overcome any mental barriers and stayed dedicated to her craft. Adding a mesmerizing stellium in Pisces which includes her Moon, this movie star was dreamy, intuitive, and highly sensitive.
Next, we look at Frank’s chart and find a naturally charming Libra rising - but with his chart ruler Venus in the sign of Capricorn, relationships demanded a lot of trial and error from him. That being said, his Sagittarius Sun making a square to Jupiter tells us all about his optimism despite challenges, and a desire for enormous wealth and abundance. In episode 101 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield take on an excellent listener submission to dive into the synastry of artist/activist/rock couple royalty: John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
First, John’s chart gives us a strong, independent, and competitive Aries rising. Essentially starting the Beatles at age 16, this initiator got the extra push his Sun and Mars in Libra needed by partnering up with Paul McCartney. He was then able to capitalize on his Aquarius Moon’s need for connection and inclusion within a group. With a stellium in the sixth house, the service and dedication to a peace movement was his life’s work.
Next, we cover Yoko’s chart and find a partner-oriented Libra rising with an avant-garde and experimental Venus in Aquarius. Then, her imaginative and nonlinear Mercury in Pisces opposing Neptune brings in even more abstract thinking (and perhaps delusion at times). Lastly, with Saturn also in Aquarius, we see that group dynamics were a source of limitation and difficulty for her.
Together, their charts shock us with the amount of Uranian/Aquarian energy. Both had Sun aspecting Uranus, plus a Uranus/Ascendent conjunction tells us they were bound to break the mold and raise eyebrows as a duo. The sudden attraction of this radical coupling was fated. Next Tara takes on Kristina’s chart and notes the agreeable and charming Libra rising with a considerate and truth-focused Ninth House Venus in Cancer. With a Saturn opposition, though, patience is key when it comes to love and relationships. Tara also has an interesting suggestion for her Eighth House Sun, letting Kristina know that applying for grants and loans is likely to have a positive outcome for her! Together, powerful themes make total sense. In episode 99 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield elect to take on America’s first female Vice President, Kamala Harris and her husband, Second Gentleman, Doug Emhoff. The two were born days apart, giving them plenty of things in common!
First, we look at Kamala’s chart and find a witty, intelligent, and communicative Gemini rising. With Mercury, her chart ruler, conjunct her Libra Sun, she has a truly powerful air-y quality, making her mind a strong and sharp asset. Next, we see that she has the Moon in Aries, telling us she can be emotionally charged and fearless, making her bold and passionate when it comes to things she cares about.
With Doug’s chart, there is a similar story, as they were only born a week apart. The main difference is that Doug’s Moon is in serious Capricorn, which also creates a grand trine in Earth in his chart. This makes him reserved, hard working, and grounded. We start with Nick, and see that his status seeking Capricorn rising takes life seriously and also lends him a well defined square jaw. With his Scorpio Sun and a Taurus moon, we see that his tendency toward possessiveness and privacy plays an important role in his personality. Adding a T-Square involving Venus, Pluto, and Saturn, relationships prove to be where he encounters extreme and tumultuous experiences.
Moving onto Vanessa's chart, we find a broody and deep Scorpio Sun that's getting a sharp opposition from Chiron, telling us that her sense of self-worth and identity are extremely important areas of healing in this lifetime.
