  • Eye-opening is the only way I can describe today’s episode. Nicky Mih, Managing Director of sex trafficking prevention organisation Free to Shine, holds nothing back as she takes us deep into her world working with vulnerable young girls in Cambodia.

Nicky shares intimate details about her experience working to protect girls who are most at risk to sex trafficking. She helps us get a feel for the dangers these girls and their families live every day, sharing stories that will give you a new found perspective on your life.

Nicky tells us about 8-year-old Kin and her Grandmother, who lived outside on a wooden bed, with only a black sheet of plastic wrapped around a tree providing some form of shelter. She talks about how this story inspired her to start building homes for these families. Today, Free to Shine has built a total of 19 homes.

Nicky explains that to keep vulnerable girls safe, they need to be in school. She tells us about how the girls sometimes struggle to stay in school, with hunger and thirst often forcing them to leave in search of food and clean water. Nicky also talks about the importance of giving back, in life and through business, before you’re ready. She encourages listeners to do what’s right and do what matters, and the rest will take care of itself. I think you’ll find this episode incredibly moving and inspiring.

  • Stella Concha is the CEO of Reo Group, a financial recruitment company whose mission is to elevate human potential. Stella is wonderfully unique, and this episode is worth listening to just to hear about her approach to living in the present moment and following her purpose.

Stella remembers playing doctor as a 5-year-old and knowing at that moment that she wanted to dedicate her life to helping others. One medical degree later, Stella realised that medicine wasn’t for her. If she wanted to live her purpose, she would have to make the courageous decision to give up on medicine.

Fast forward to today, and Stella is the CEO of a financial recruitment company. At first, medicine and financial recruitment seem like worlds apart, but as Stella explains, they both share striking similarities. She reveals that 76% of children in rural Australia don’t have access to a school, and how Reo Group is giving days of technology education to help bridge the gap.

We talk about that incredible video that she created, and how B1G1’s technology has helped move charitable giving to the shop floor. Stella goes in-depth on the impact becoming a B1G1 partner has had on her business, and how connecting team outcomes with giving is helping to encourage positive behaviour. I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did.

  • Today on the show, it is a great privilege to chat with Paul Dunn. Paul is the man behind B1G1, a global business initiative on a mission to create a world full of giving. He is a 4-time TEDx Speaker, entrepreneur, and master presenter. Paul spearheaded the Business for Good Movement, which has inspired businesses across the world to give back to those in need.

I asked Paul to share his very first memory of wanting to do good for somebody else. Paul talks about how from the start of his life, giving back was always his passion. At a young age, he was able to share a table with people like David Packard and Bill Hewlett, Founders of The Hewlett -Packard Company. In their presence, he learned the two driving forces that pushed him to do what he does now; giving abundantly.

In the middle part of our conversation, Paul tells us that 84 businesses are being founded every hour. Why is this number so high? Why are so many people choosing to build a business? Is it for themselves or the greater good? He recalls a quote from a Richard Branson speech, where he said, “Businesses who do good, do better.” We discuss why developing and discovering a business’s purpose, passion, and values are so important.

When you listen to Paul talk about his purpose and passion in this episode, you’ll find yourself reflecting on your business and your life, asking the question: “Why do I do what I do?”

What You Will Discover in This Episode:

The story behind Paul’s decision to create a movement that encouraged charitable giving. The two driving forces that lead Paul to create B1G1.The 3 L’s that determine your Legacy. How business owners can leverage their legacy.Paul sharing his passion for giving abundantly and why all entrepreneurs should follow suit.Paul’s tipping point: How the 2006 tsunami made him realise that he has a bigger obligation to the world. The mindset shift that business owners need to make to embrace the idea of doing business while giving back.Paul explaining why business owners are in the best position to make the world a happier place.

  • Today on the podcast, I chat with Daniel Flynn, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Thankyou. Thankyou is a social enterprise that commits 100% of their profit towards ending global poverty. Today, Thankyou products can be found in over 5,500 outlets in Australia, and they’ve donated millions of dollars to provide safe water, toilets, and health programs to thousands of people in need.

In 2008, at the age of 19, Daniel recalls sitting in front of his computer and crying. He was crying because he was reading about kids as young as 4 and 5 walking every day to collect dirty water, water that carries disease and ends up killing their brothers and sisters. It was in that moment that Daniel knew he wanted to do something to help.

After learning that 900 million people didn’t have access to clean water, all while we were spending $50 billion on bottled water, Daniel set out on his mission to make a difference. Every company has a story, and Daniel reveals why every company should share theirs with the world.

In this episode, he takes us right back to the time when he started to build Thankyou. He also shares details of the business plan that took off last year when they finally entered a new market in New Zealand. Daniel also talks about his experience being interviewed by Former US President Barack Obama at the Obama Foundation Summit.

This is an unmissable episode. You will hear from Daniel about the importance of running a company with integrity, the mistakes you need to avoid when building a social enterprise, and where to put all your focus when push comes to shove.
