As someone who was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s at 27, this is a topic I have been wanting to bring on the show. My guest today shares why it’s important to get to the root of the problem to then begin to HEAL it rather than be on medication for the rest of your life. Priscilla has a Masters of Science in Nutritional Sciences and is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She is the founder of Keto Girl Nutritionist. She provides a holistic, mindful keto approach for women to be able to consistently lose 1-4 lbs a week, reverse their Hypothyroidism and/or Hashimoto’s while getting off their medication. On this episode we talk about what led Priscilla to pursue this work, what Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism is as well as signs to detect it. Reversing the disease to eventually come off your medication, who it’s possible for and what the process of weaning off meds looks like. Synthetic hormone medications that actually kill your thhyroid- 7 worst medications to be on due to fillers. Why women are not functionally optimally but being told that labs are coming back normal. Hormonal acne and main causes for these diagnosis, how young women can start prevention. Key points to follow in your diet for someone who has one or both of these diagnoses, inflammatory foods. Priscilla explains what her KGN University is and what someone can expect when working with her. It was a pleasure having her on the show, she is so knowledgeable on this subject and already helping so many women out there who once felt helpless in their health journey.

One of my favorite episodes to date! Today I am chatting with David Boatright from Fed From the Farm. David and Mariah Boatright are restoration agriculturalists. Their mission statement is “To restore the health and vitality of the land and to nourish the families who eat of its bounty.” They currently manage a regenerative grazing system on their farm in the rolling hills of central Missouri. Hair Sheep, Beef Cattle, Pasture Poultry, and goats are all rotated across the landscape. Each animal is able to express its unique gifts and abilities as they are managed to heal the land and produce nutrient rich food for families which they serve with an online pasture to plate website. The farm is a family endeavor. David and Mariah are the third generation of Boatrights on the farm and their four young sons may one day be the fourth.
In this episode David and I discuss what regenerative agriculture is, how it differs from traditional farming. The importance of quality meat to eat, how to know what you’re eating is nutrient dense. Treatment of the animals on the Boatright farm vs other mass production farms and how it affects the meat quality. For example- some chickens never even see sunlight in their life before butchering. How to not be scammed by the word “organic” on packaging. Benefits of Raw A2 milk. We then discuss everything you will find for purchase on Fed From The Farm website!

Dr. Halie Schoff is here to talk all about functional health & wellness (one of my favorite topics). We cover so much in this episode and will most likely need a part 2 sooner than later! Dr. Halie Schoff is a functional chiropractor and integrative health practitioner with her Masters of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition. She has a passion for healthy movement, proper mindset, wholesome nutrition and non-toxic living. She won’t just adjust your spine, she’ll adjust your lifestyle!
In this episode we discuss the differences between functional health and western medicine, why it might be more beneficial for you to choose one over the other. How functional healing has a different approach of finding the root cause rather than just putting a “bandaid” on the problem. We also talk about gut health and how many issues can stem from the gut; what inflammatory foods you can start to cut if you’re someone with poor gut health and how you can start to improve your gut health. Hormonal imbalances are something many are dealing with everyday, so I ask Dr. Halie where one should start if they suspect a hormone imbalance, what outside sources could be “throwing off” your hormones that you could be unaware of, and then of course how to effectively balance your hormones in a healthy way. Are you someone who has gone to the doctor for a certain concern that is a big question mark/can’t be diagnosed? Or do you suspect you’ve been diagnosed with something that is wrong? Are you tired of trying new methods of “treatment” but still feeling like your body isn’t performing optimally? Well we discuss all of the above in this and what to do if you’re experiencing the same. There are things you can be doing everyday to detox your body in a healthy and effective way, Dr. Halie Schoff explains these methods as well as what you need to be detoxing from. All in all this episode will help you with the beginning steps of becoming the Alpha to your health! To find out more info or get in touch with Dr. Halie Schoff, visit www.drhalieschoff.com
