Today joining us In The House is Mike McEwen.
What’s Happening Around the Curling World?
This past weekend a major competition for men was held in Penticton in
the way of the NuFloors Penticton Classic.
There aren’t any foreign teams in the event
but it did feature five of Canada’s best we
will review. The Pan Continental Championship
started last Sunday in Lacombe, Alberta and
this is an important event because it qualifies
a number of teams for the 2025 Women’s
and Men’s World Championships….Canada is
represented by Brad Gushue and Rachel
Homan. Hot Rocks Topics. The Pan Continental
Championship started a few days ago and in a couple of
weeks the European Championship will start and in
both cases teams are being qualified for the 2025
World Men’s and Women’s Championship. In all
probability the Pan Continental will qualify (six – we will
explain) and the Europeans seven of the 13
teams. But at the WC Congress in September a
thought was put on the table…..is there a better way of
doing this?
So, today we have an email but
we have also gone to our FB Group where someone
asked about the Pan Continental being on television
and it got 109 comments. Curling Moments to
Remember - A look back into curling’s rich
history. Each week either Kevin or Warren
will relate back to an experience or observation to
something that has happened in curling’s rich
history. Today Kevin will bring us a great curling
moment.

In the House today joining us is Matt Dunstone who just won the Fall Classic in Sault Ste. Marie.
What’s Happening Around the Curling World? This past weekend a major cashspiel, the Fall Classic was held in Sault Ste. Marie and it featured some of the best teams in the world….we will review the results. The World Mixed Championship (four person mixed) concluded this past weekend in Aberdeen, Scotland and we will tell you about the final results. We received a letter from Phil Drobnick, USA National Team Director who brought to our attention a very unique event being held by USA Curling in the middle of November, We will share with you what Phil brought to our attention, The Pan Continental Championship will start on the 27th in Lacombe, Alberta. This is a pretty important event because it will determine five women’s teams and five men’s teams for the 2025 World Championships.
Hot Rocks Topics, for sure curling isn’t getting any faster and more and more emphasis is being placed on all sports to shorten the time span. Does curling need to finally make another change at the top level to speed things up even more? We have a couple of emails to look at today actually one is in a response to the email we read on the show last week from Mike Roeke that we did not interpret correctly.
Curling Moments to Remember. A look back into curling’s rich history. Each week either Kevin or Warren will relate back to an experience or observation to something that has happened in curling’s rich history. Today Warren will bring us a great curling moment.

In The House joining us is Brendan Bottcher. What’s Happening Around the Curling World?
The social media world is buzzing today about Brendan Bottcher joining the Brad Gushue Team but some of it is pretty nasty. A major women’s bonspiel happened this past week in Calgary, The Curlers Corner Autumn Gold Classic featuring some of the best female curlers in the world? The Stu Sells Toronto Tankard happened last week and a number of the better world women’s and men’s teams participated and we will give you the final results. The World Curling four-person championship started last weekend in Aberdeen, Scotland and we will take a look at what is happening in Aberdeen. Word came out this week about another curling club having to close it’s doors from financial pressures caused by an equipment malfunction. We have a very interesting email today that has its focus on the television commentary for video streaming……You don’t want to miss this one?

Today joining us is Kerri Einarson who just won the Hearing Life
Challenge in Charlottetown….her first big win
of the season. What’s Happening Around the Curling World?
This past weekend the Hearing Life
Challenge, the first Grand Slam of the season
took place in Charlottetown, PEI with a Tier I
and a Tier II event one the ice…..We will
review both events and give you the
highlights. The Aaron Sluchinski team
announced Tuesday that Aaron has left the
team…..we will talk about where he is going?
I think we have talked about the
hogline and violations on two of our shows
already this year but because of email and FB
comments this past weekend we will address
the issue one more time
Hot Rocks Topics, Curling needs an injection of
something new and different could two person
stick curling maybe be the answer to that
question could two person stick become
curling’s “Cornhole” or “pickleball” We will talk
about how this take on curling could be a way to
get people into a curling facility and not just
older curlers who can no longer slide…?
We have had lots of comments in
email and social media about the added
broadcasts of the GSOC this past week on video
stream. We will take a look at one of them. Curling Moments to
Remember, A look back into curling’s rich
history. Each week either Kevin or Warren
will relate back to an experience or observation to
something that has happened in curling’s rich
history……Today Warren will look back to a major
happening that took place in March of 1977 in
Montreal

new owners of the Grand Slam. Lots of new things happening and we will chat about the New Grand
Slam. Hot Rocks Topics, Curling needs an injection of something new and different, could two person stick curling
maybe be the answer to that question? could two person stick become curling’s “Cornhole” or
“pickleball”? We will talk about how this take on curling could be a way to get people into a curling

Mailbag, We will look at an email where a listener
has asked for some direction on how to buy
curling equipment for a youngster, Kevin will
provide some insight.
What Are You Hearing, another team has made a decision
to play with three players, Team Koe, at least for
now. Might there be an advantage in today’s
game for a team to play with three and at the top
competitive level should it continue to be allowed
or should some changes be made.

coaches who were present….you will be surprised
at what they had to say….
The issue of 8 ends versus 10 wasn’t on the
agenda...wasn’t even discussed…what would
be the reason for that?

talk about the up coming season.
Mailbag, Even though it is summer we are
