“Things look bleak. I’m... very lost. Too many thoughts and choices spilling onto each other like watercolors. It all mixes into a brown, static mush. I need to reassess everything - streamline the main points. What do I know? I know I’m dying; I know it’s happening fast; and I know the only way one of us can live, is if the other dies...Okay, I guess it’s not that complicated.”

“Overlap decay isn’t a switch that you can turn off by crossing back over. It’s an all-or-nothing trigger. Once it’s pulled, that bullet’s in your brain, your lungs, your kidneys, etcetera etcetera. At this point, all we can do is hope there’s some way to turn back the clock. So, we’re going to do what got us in this mess in the first place — throw some shit into the wormhole and see what happens.”

“Our goal was the same as the past three experiments - to find variances between our worlds with a focus on areas that could be exploited. Things like sports outcomes, lottery results, etc. Basically, things that could make us money. You see, on first glance, our worlds seem virtually identical — the Allies still won World War II; iPhone models are unchanged; same politicians, unfortunately. Our calendars and astronomical data align as well, so time appears to run at the same rate. Our worlds appear to be locked together, like they’re in an eternal three-legged race.”

“I still wouldn’t say I trust him. He’s been tight-lipped about any details on his side of the Anomaly, and I’m guilty of this too, but sometimes it feels like he’s talking me into circles. Our conversations get repetitive and often go nowhere. I’m starting to think he’s giving me the run around, delaying my research so he can get a head start."

“There are a hundred million things that could go wrong. My body could disintegrate, or explode, or both. I could be trapped in seventh-dimensional space, stuck inside a bookcase, doomed to watch a highlights reel of the worst choices I’ve ever made in my life for the rest of eternity…
Or, I could become the first person in history to safely pass through a wormhole... which would be pretty cool.”
