In a candid conversation Sarmad Khoosat unpacks mardangi – (masculinity). He deconstructs this concept, both as healthy and toxic in Hum Awaaz. The social expectations associated to respective genders can be unhealthy and counterproductive to ones growth. Encouraging healthy masculine and feminine behaviors can challenge patriarchal norms, which are counterproductive to societal progress. The everyday typecasting based on the gender roles disempowers many and in order for us to understand the subtleties we must initiate a discourse about gender performative roles.
