  • Today, we're talking about a photo called Dahlia. Dahlia's and mums are, to me, synonymous with autumn. In the Pacific Northwest, and many other places, summer days can seem to last into September and this year was no exception to that. They also have many different varieties and what I like about this one was that it reminded me of sunshine and daisies. It has the most vibrant yellow outer petals and the smaller inner petals that have vibrant pink tips that stand out like fire on the sun.

I might be able to fit two of these flowers fully bloomed on my pinkie. Like, literally on my pinkie nail, fully bloomed. You see it, it's purple, it's got five petals. It's cute. Because seriously, most people don't actually want to take a picture of the bugs that are at a place, but this place was full of bugs. There were so many mosquitoes! It was insane! • Today we are talking about a photo called Pollinator. Now, the reason why this is called Pollinator and not Bee or whatever is because it's actually a drone fly, which is a type of fly that camouflages itself to look like a bee. This is a macro photography shot, so you can see the top of the fly, its eyes, its little feet getting right up into the stamen of the flower, getting the pollen off of it, doing its thing. Because I shot this in RAW the details were there to allow me to crop this a bit and still have a nice, crisp photo. That's one good thing about shooting RAW is that you do have a lot of those details.

There are a couple of ways that you can do night photography. I did talk about this a little bit and episode two on Space Needle lowering the ISO to 100 and pulling out the exposure time. • Raindrops on a Rosebud is what's called macro photography. It is a close-up photo of a rosebud, and it was just after a spring shower. So it's completely covered in rain drops. One of the great things about macro photography is that it makes small things large.

And you can see the raindrops on this.
