The time has FINALLY come!
'Love on the Air', my debut novel, is on its way out into the world after living in my mind and on my MacBook Pro for three wonderful years. I am so so excited to introduce Alex York to the world. I hope you love her as much as I do!
In this episode, my girl Yvie Jones and I talk all things 'book writing' - hopefully it will inspire some people listening to get going on their 'big idea' (even if you have no idea what the heck you're doing)
If you'd like to pre-order the book (please do!) I've put all the links here.
If you want more of Yvie, get around her new podcast Can I Pat Your Dog?
Love you guys. More than a friend.

Let's be honest, this week we all need a comfort watch, and they don't get much more comforting than Notting freaking Hill. I don't think any woman has ever been more beautiful in any film than Julia Roberts in Notting Hill. And no man has been floppier than Hugh Grant. Beautiful meets floppy. Romance ensues.
Big love to Harriet Power for joining me once again with all her with and warmth!
Make sure you chuck us a follow on TikTok and instagram!

There's murder! There's curses! There's demon possessed ex lovers! There's dead parents! And to top it all off? There's a gorgeous love story between a woman and the cop investigating the murder she committed. But it's romantic, I swear!
Happy Halloween, lovers! We're heading back to 1998 for a film with the knockout cast to end ALL knockout casts. Sandra. Nicole. Stockard. Diane.
'Practical Magic' ain't winning any Oscars, but it's winning our hearts and there's a reason why this film is a comfort-watch for so many people in their 30's.
Sandra Bullock is the queen. We bow down forever. Amen.

Sometimes you gotta just throw the podcast premise out the window and dedicate an entire episode to the fact that Sept/Oct 2024 has been a big month for the gals/gays/theys/anyone who ever found themselves sexually attracted to Joshua Jackson or Adam Brody (or in my case, both, at the same time).
Thank you universe, thank you.

The Zendaya love triangle film that we didn't know we needed! Who knew tennis could be so hot and heavy? Sexy churros, steamy saunas and a sly smile from Josh O'Connor that had Annalise Ball and I swooning. It's all in this week's episode.
For those in Oz, you can rent 'Challengers' on Prime Video or Apple tv

If you've watched 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging' as a teenager, then it is a scientific fact that you also loved it. Because it's the perfect teenage ode to young love, hormones and a teenage Aaron Taylor Johnson. Em Vernem joins me for his episode as we discuss a film that means a lot to us for a variety of different reasons. If you haven't watched it yet - you can do so in Australia on Stan and Prime Video.
You can follow Em on socials here.

Today's episode took many unexpected and wonderful directions, from short kings to cougars to sexy vampires. We welcome the ever hilarious foetus (she's 24) Annalise Ball to the podcast to discuss A Family Affair, in which Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman get it on, and Joey King reels in disgust.
As always our DM's are open and you can drop us a voicemail on the Hopeless Hotline - 0483 966 500.
Oh and the Zac Efron interview I did way back when which I reference in this episode can be found here. Enjoy!

What the absolute F, you guys.
My Lady Jane (watch it on Prime Video ASAP!) has not been renewed for another season, and not only have we now been left HANGING, but we only got to see Jane and Guildford bang twice. And that my friends, is a travesty.
If you, like us, are angry and heartbroken over the show's premature demise you can sign the petition at savemyladyjane.com

If you were born in the mid eighties and somebody asks you which film was your sexual awakening, chances are Baz Luhrman's 'Romeo and Juliet' might get a mention. Fish tank scene, anyone?
This episode is not only a deep dive into this incredible film, but also careers it spawned, namely Leonardo Dicaprio who hasn't really put a foot wrong since. It's also a love letter to being a horny teenager in the nineties. Ha!
Big love to Harriet Power for joining me once again. We hope you love this episode and are reminded of all the feels we all felt.
Don;'t forget to drop us a voicemail or a text on 0483 966 500 if you wanna get involved with the show! We welcome your thoughts, feelings, feedback, suggestions and general musings.
Love you more than a friend,

This week, Hannah Diviney joins us to discuss 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' which was made before she was born. HA! Expect a whole lot of Hugh Grant floppy hair chat, swooning over Kristen Scott Thomas and a HILARIOUS story about a Rowan Atkinson misunderstanding.
Hannah is a writer, disability advocate, actress, screenwriter, author, media personality and loveable overachiever (I added the last bit) and it was such a pleasure to hear her insights in this conversation.
Hannah writes a weekly Substack called Hannah's Secret Internet Diary - full of personal stories, pop culture and social commentary. You can check it out here

When the podcast is dedicated to romantic comedies, it would be remiss of us to overlook one off my personal favourite books of the last year, Curtis Sittenfeld's 'Romantic Comedy', set amongst the glitz of showbiz and the drab of COVID. A combination that somehow works! As I mention in this podcast, when I finished it I lay in bed smiling at the ceiling in the dark. It just did things to me.
I'm joined this week again by the hilarious Jess Farchione which means there are...sexual themes discussed. I suppose she just brings it out in me.

I want you. I need you. Oh baby. Oh baby.
10 Things I Hate About You is easily one of the most requested films on this podcast, for good reason. It's the film that defined so many of our teenage years - and in an exemplary career cut short - perhaps the role most of us remember Heath Ledger for most fondly.
Natasha Stamos joins me once again with her wit, charm and insights. Want more from her? Subscribe to her substack here!

This week we're all about the OG Tik-Tok romance 'The Hating Game' by Canberra's own Sally Thorne. I'm probably the last romance fan on earth to read this book (and watch the movie) but I now count myself among its most ardent fans. I mean how often does a movie get a book interpretation SO DAMN RIGHT?
Our girl Jordon Lott joins me once again for a big old horny swoon-fest for which we remain entirely unashamed.

Jude Law, Jude Law, Jude Law the end. This would have been my version of the podcast if I did it alone. Lucky for you, this week one of my besties Claudia joins me as we dive into one of our joint favourite films...the heartwarming, hilarious swoon-fest that is The Holiday. It may be a Christmas film, but it can be watched any time of year. What a cast! What a script! What a film!

Mhairi McFarlane has done it again with a hilarious, sharp, witty and emotional read that had as laughing (out loud) and crying (also out loud). Oh and as far as book boyfriends go, Lucas McCarthy and his jet black hair and broody stare (and hidden wealth...ca-ching!!!) is up there.
I'm joined once again by the super smart and generally fantastic Natasha Stamos, who you can get around here.
As always we LOVE your contribution to this poddy - leave us a text or a voicemail on the Hopeless Hotline which is open 24/7 on 0483 966 500

After last week's 'All of Us Stranger' sob-fest you'd think I'd go for an Adam Sandler film but ALAS the tissues are back for one of the ALL TIME GREATS! The Richard Curtis instant classic 'About Time'.
Speaking of 'all time greats' my pal Harriet Power joins me for this episode, and she brings her trademark warmth, insight and love of dialogue to this discussion.

If you are looking for a hard hitting, serious, deep discussion on the thematics and messaging behind Bridgerton S3, then this is not the episode for you.
If you want to hear two opinionated, loud mouthed and very passionate Bridgerton fans get hyped up about all the ways that this season made us feel things (both sexual and emotional) then PRESS PLAY, BABY!
Big love to Jess Farchione for bringing her A game on very late notice for this one.
Hope you love listening as much as we (very clearly) loved recording!
