Peter began to say to Jesus,"We have given up everything and followed you."Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sistersor mother or father or children or landsfor my sake and for the sake of the Gospelwho will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age:houses and brothers and sistersand mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first."

    Mk 10:17-27

As Jesus was setting out on a journey, a man ran up,knelt down before him, and asked him,"Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"Jesus answered him, "Why do you call me good?No one is good but God alone

.You know the commandments: You shall not kill;you shall not commit adultery;you shall not steal;you shall not bear false witness;you shall not defraud;honor your father and your mother."He replied and said to him,"Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth."Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him,"You are lacking in one thing.

Go, sell what you have, and give to the poorand you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."At that statement, his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,"How hard it is for those who have wealthto enter the Kingdom of God!"The disciples were amazed at his words.

So Jesus again said to them in reply,"Children, how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God!It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needlethan for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God."They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves,"Then who can be saved?"Jesus looked at them and said,"For men it is impossible, but not for God.All things are possible for God."

    Mt 28:16-20

The eleven disciples went to Galilee,to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them,"All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

People were bringing children to Jesus that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.

When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the Kingdom of God like a child will not enter it. ”Then he embraced the children and blessed them, placing his hands on them.

    Mk 10:1-12

Jesus came into the district of Judea and across the Jordan.Again crowds gathered around him and, as was his custom,he again taught them.

The Pharisees approached him and asked,"Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?"They were testing him.He said to them in reply, "What did Moses command you?"They replied,"Moses permitted a husband to write a bill of divorceand dismiss her."But Jesus told them,"Because of the hardness of your heartshe wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and motherand be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh.

Therefore what God has joined together,no human being must separate."In the house the disciples again questioned Jesus about this.He said to them,"Whoever divorces his wife and marries anothercommits adultery against her;and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."

Jesus said to his disciples:"Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.

"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin,it would be better for him if a great millstonewere put around his neckand he were thrown into the sea.If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.It is better for you to enter into life maimedthan with two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut if off.It is better for you to enter into life crippledthan with two feet to be thrown into Gehenna. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.Better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eyethan with two eyes to be thrown into Gehenna, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

"Everyone will be salted with fire.Salt is good, but if salt becomes insipid, with what will you restore its flavor?Keep salt in yourselves and you will have peace with one another."

    Mk 9:30-37

Jesus and his disciples left from there and began a journey through Galilee, but he did not wish anyone to know about it. He was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him, and three days after his death the Son of Man will rise.” But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to question him.

They came to Capernaum and, once inside the house, he began to ask them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” But they remained silent. For they had been discussing among themselves on the way who was the greatest. Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child, he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.”

    Jn 19:25-34

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son. ”Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.

Now since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and they be taken down. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately Blood and water flowed out.

    Jn 15:26-27; 16:12-15

Jesus said to his disciples:"When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father,he will testify to me.And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

"I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own,but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me,because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.Everything that the Father has is mine;for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mineand declare it to you."

    Jn 21:20-25

Peter turned and saw the disciple following whom Jesus loved, the one who had also reclined upon his chest during the supper and had said, "Master, who is the one who will betray you?" When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about him?" Jesus said to him, "What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is it of yours? You follow me."So the word spread among the brothers that that disciple would not die. But Jesus had not told him that he would not die, just "What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is it of yours?"

It is this disciple who testifies to these thing sand has written them, and we know that his testimony is true. There are also many other things that Jesus did,but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.

    Jn 21:15-19

After Jesus had revealed himself to his disciples and eaten breakfast with them, he said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?

"Simon Peter, answered him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you. "Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs. "He then said to Simon Peter a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?

"Simon Peter answered him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."He said to him, "Tend my sheep."He said to him the third time,"Simon, son of John, do you love me?"

Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time,"Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep .Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.

"He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me."

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying:"I pray not only for these, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,so that they may all be one,as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us,that the world may believe that you sent me.And I have given them the glory you gave me,so that they may be one, as we are one,I in them and you in me,that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me,and that you loved them even as you loved me.Father, they are your gift to me.I wish that where I am they also may be with me,that they may see my glory that you gave me,because you loved me before the foundation of the world.Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,but I know you, and they know that you sent me.I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved memay be in them and I in them."

    Jn 15:9-17

Jesus said to his disciples:“As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandmentsand remain in his love.

“I have told you this so that my joy might be in youand your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this,to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends ,because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you: love one another.”

Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

“Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

But now I am coming to you.I speak this in the world so that they may share my joy completely.I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the worldany more than I belong to the world.I do not ask that you take them out of the worldbut that you keep them from the evil one. They do not belong to the worldany more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world,so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them,so that they also may be consecrated in truth.”

    Jn 16:23b-28

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

“I have told you this in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures but I will tell you clearly about the Father. On that day you will ask in my name, and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you. For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have come to believe that I came from God. I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

    Jn 16:20-23

Jesus said to his disciples:"Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices;you will grieve, but your grief will become joy. When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived;but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joythat a child has been born into the world.

So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.On that day you will not question me about anything.Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you."

    Mk 16:15-20

Jesus said to his disciples: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.
