Welcome back everyone, to the Hike’s Peak Podcast, thank you for coming back to the mountain! With portal season starting to wrap up, it’s time to revisit each team’s top ranked transfer add! Every roster in the conference is set, besides Fresno State and San Jose State, but in total, over 50 new faces are coming into the Mountain West. I’ve picked out the ones you need to know going into next year, no time to waste, let’s dive right in!
Note: Boise State and San Diego State won't be discussed, since they only added a few transfers (BSU: Dylan Andrew/UCLA, Drew Fielder/Georgetown) (SDSU: Sean Newman Jr/LA Tech, Jeremiah Oden/Charlotte, Latrell Davis/SJSU), all of whom have been discussed in depth at some point over the last few weeks. Also, as expected, Air Force will be absent as well, since they don’t indulge in the transfer portal.

Welcome back everyone, to the Hike’s Peak podcast, thank you for coming back to the mountain! As you may be aware, this was a painful week for the Mountain West. In March Madness, the greatest sporting event on the planet, San Diego State and Utah State failed to show, getting blown out by North Carolina and UCLA respectively. Colorado State got a triumphant upset over Memphis, and New Mexico notched an incredibly impressive win over Marquette, but the second round wasn’t as favorable. The Lobos led early on two seed Michigan State, but faded down the stretch to lose to the heavily-favored Spartans. The Rams, however, went toe-to-toe with fourth seeded Maryland, playing a fantastic all-around game to take a one point lead with 6 seconds to go. Unfortunately, the cruel gods that oversee March Madness had other plans, as future lottery pick big man Deriq Queen took one dribble, three steps, and hit a contested fadeaway floater at the buzzer to break the Rams hearts. We’ll dive into every game from the Big Dance this week, as well as my thoughts on two notable coaching carousel moves, with Niko Medved leaving Colorado State for his alma mater of Minnesota, and UNLV hiring former Memphis and Georgia Tech head coach Josh Pastner. Lots of show to get through this week, let’s jump in!

Welcome back, everyone, to the Hike’s Peak podcast, thank you for coming back to the mountain! We’ve got a strange topic this week, as over the last few days, a gambling scandal has emerged from the Fresno State basketball program. Amidst what is already their worst season in decades, the Bulldogs found a new way to make their fans frown, with three players (Jalen Weaver, Mykell Robinson, and Zaon Collins) being suspended or removed from the team for gambling. To make matters worse, two of those players placed prop bets on their own games. We’ll go over how the situation unfolded, what players are involved, and where head coach Vance Walberg, the suspended players, and Fresno State’s program goes from here. Really deep dive this week, let’s get right into it.
