She grew up in a Buddhist family and started her spiritual journey at a very young age. She has developed her special blend of healing modalities along with her intuitive skills to help you find your true higher self. Healing: “Healing has always been for me so many different levels. Spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional.” The year of the rat: metal energy. This year started off with Kobe’s death - On this collective connection, on the metal year of the rat, it’s all abut new begging are re-setting and dissolving what didn’t work before. That’s what the collective is about. We’re not independent. Everything we do affects other people and situation. It’s like a ripple effect. If we understand that dynamic we understand the collective energy we have with each other. Then we moved into the pandemic, and we moved into March. What happens when you keep doing something. Like what Albert Einstein says “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” If something is not working, and culturally and collectively we’re doing it over and over again, something needs to happen to give us a different result. This is what the collective evolution is with this pandemic. Things that we thought are working out, our we think is working, it’s a very complicated interconnected web. This is a way of resetting, hitting the reset button and recognizing that it’s not working out. We have to reevaluate everything that’s going on in our society in our world, in our own personal lives, leading to the changes that are required. There is the energy of people moving around a lot. We have to look at it in the microscopic level. What’s happening in the world, and what’s happening in the country, and what’s happening in your family, and what’s happening to you all is quite connected. We’re re-evaluating our systems. People are moving homes, quitting jobs, relationships etc. This is mother earth telling us, “I’ve given you plenty of time to reevaluate this whole system but this is the opportunity to refresh and recalibrate. How do we deal with the fear of the unknown: Fear is a very good motivation from keeping us from doing what we need to do. Fear based emotions are part of our DNA. We first have to accept that it’s very much a part of us. There is nothing wrong with having fear, because it is self preservation. What happens is that in our brain, we have a frontal cortex telling us whether we have to fight or flight. Tee frontal cortex gets stuck and we get into this limbo state of freaking out. If you take time to think about fear based emotions, you will recognize you’ve been there before. When you get stuck in the motion of not being able to rationalize fear. You have to recognize that you have the tools to deal with fear, to conquer fear. We wouldn’t have survived for millions years without knowing that’s in our power. We have to recognize the rational and irrational fear base. For example, bees are such a wonderful creature of our environment but we have always been taught to stay away from bees. If you think about it, the bees have NO interest in stinging us. In some crazy way we become fearful of something and they’re fearful of us. When you hear the sound of the bees you immediately feel fear. When you really think about tit, it’s doing it’s own thing. The irrational fear of bees will slowly subside and you no longer feel it in the moment. It’s important to reason with yourself of what’s rational and irrational fear. When a client tells me they feel stuck we have to realize what they’re actually stuck on. Fear of the unknown: We are constantly struggling to stay present. In this very moment. The future is now. When you recognize what you’re doing now is already affecting your future. If you really think about it you’re always projecting the future. Don’t try to overthink in trying to get to the future. Go small, 2 minutes from now, 30 minutes from now, an hour from now. Don’t think about what’s going to happen next year. Are you on the path? What are you doing about it? Do it in the present. Importance of breathing: One of the modalities I practice is breath work. There are many different types of breath work out there. It’s so critical nowadays because of the pandemic. The coronavirus is affect the virus. People with this virus are struggling to breathe. In Chinese medicine, lungs represent grief. So this is the collective releasing grief. This is where the world, mother nature and the universe is having us release grief. The lungs are the biggest organ in the body and the last organ to form when we’re forming. So breath work is critical even more so during the pandemic. Most of us don’t breathe property. A lot of us are reverse breathers. Certain people have shallow breath. Some breathe too much. It’s a balance. We need both. We’ve been taught we need to get rid of the co2 but in reality these have to be balanced. Breath work is also a modality to help to be released from an attachment. When you feel an etherial experience it’s a way to help you heal on the etherial level. Some healing work has to be done on the energetic level. Breath work takes you out of the etherial body and takes you to the energetic realm to help you heal. Breath work takes you out of being self aware so once you release that you release the emotions. It’s not a coincidence that this virus affects our lungs. There are so many things happening in our country we haven’t dealt with. If you think about it our country is a young country. For more than 250 years we haven’t looked it in its eyes and asked what hasn’t for 2020 Energy - It’s been challenging. It’s been bad. But we’re just beginning with the work. The last 5 months of lockdown and quarantine has been quiet. Our country, our political system isn’t quiet. But this is actually a quiet time. Whats going to happen for the last quarter of the year it’s actually uprising. It’s going to get more into action. Getting more things done. Going into 2021 it’s all about working. Taking everything we’ve experienced this year and putting it to work. This year has been the training ground. Next year we’re taking all the skillsets and putting it into action. Unfortunately it’s not coming to an end. It’s not going to be easier. It’s going to be uphill. Most people thing we’ve been going uphill but that’s not quite. Now we’re actually taking the ascent going uphill. So a lot of work involved. On an individual level up to nation, country and work. The work is all about leading up to the election. It’s going carry on early next year. In March we’re going to see this whole shift happening.     In this two guest episode I speak with Wahe Guru Kaur and Ani Lalazarian about spiritual activism and generational trauma & healing.

    I felt it was very important to highlight what is going on in Armenia and Artsakh.

    It’s been about one month now - on September 27th Azerbaijan with the backing of Turkey launched attacks on the region of Nogorno-kharabagh - recognized by Armenians as Artsakh. The Armenian diaspora all over the globe has been calling for help. This for me is PERSONAL - The silence is deafening and the hearts of every Armenian around the world is aching. Yes ally’s are stepping in educating themselves, celebrities are speaking up, but the international community doesn’t seem to care.

    By staying silent the international community and world leaders are allowing a genocide again. The 1915 genocide of Armenian people remains unrecognized and unpunished. History is repeating itself and the world once again more than 100 years later staying silent.

    We’re fighting against misinformation in the media - social media. High profile celebrities and digital media pages spreading misinformation.

    In addition to the war on the ground, where There’s been evidence of Azerbaijan and Turkey using mercenaries and cluster bombs on civilian neighborhoods, churches and schools for 3 weeks straight, there’s also been a cyber war, with thousands of Azeri accounts, both real and fake, posting misinformation and propaganda content produced by the government to distract and confuse the global audience.

    Armenians are feeling fear heartache and they feel unheard.

    A few weeks ago we gathered for a prayer and meditation circle for Artsakh and the women I spoke with who tell me they feel fear, anxiety and I started to wonder if there is such thing as “ancestral trauma” and “generation trauma” being reactivated.

    This is a podcast about self-love self care healing and growth and I feel like I cannot practice self-love right now if I’m not talking about what is going on in the world.

    I feel is very important to keep track of because this is part of our growth people are realizing what is important to them and why the choices we make affect everyone and we are all connected

    Wahe Guru Kaur speaks about how her inner activist has awakened during the pandemic. “I’ve gone through a lot of anger, rage, frustration and guilt that I never took and stance before. I was in this position in the spiritual community. I always had this projection that I had to be of love and light and never say anything negative. Through a process of the breakdown in the community, I have realized it’s not one or the other. There is a time to be activated and take a stand for what you believe in and there is a time to project healing and peace in a neutral way and hold space for others who are going through a lot of pain.”

    Wahe Guru says she’s had the privilege to work with many people of Armenian heritage. She says she’s noticed similar threads of experience and trauma. In general. “What I have seen is that there is this very common generational trauma that shows up in the Armenian community. It’s a vibration. I can pick up on an energetic level. It’s “A feeling of very deep wounding, fear, panic, extreme grief. The worst of it.”

    Wahe Guru says this is passed down not only in the DNA but also stories told. It’s in our blood, it’s in our DNA and it’s also in our brain. These become deep seeded grooved in our brain that tell us “We are not safe, our voices are not heard, we have to fight to survive. We need to provide for our family so we need to make good money.” This is across the board in any background she says but in the Armenian culture it’s intensified.

    “It’s gotten activated, it’s gotten charged within you.”

    Several weeks ago I tweeted “Is generational trauma being activated a thing?”

    Ani had written something similar about it that day which is why I wanted her on the podcast. Ani is a recent graduate of Kundulini yoga, she said “The week the attack started, I felt something activate in my womb. I could literally hear woman and children screaming as if they were next to me. They are witnessing people dying. I felt this on such a cellular level.”

    Ani saw Wahe Guru for a healing session. Ani’s grandmother was a genocide survivor. She was 4 at the time. Ani says she could see her grandmothers fear during her healing session.

    “In a million years I never imagined something like this happening, again.” Ani says her family marches on the commemoration day of the Armenian genocide, April 24th, chanting the words “1915 never again.” She says Armenian people have come together so beautifully, and non-Armenian allies around the world to bring awareness to the current attack on Artsakh.

    “I realized that as small of a country as we are, this loving energy that is being sent to this region is more powerful than any powerful dictator to the world. I believe that love can win and light can win.”

    During our spiritual activism event, we did a lot of clearing. Wahe Guru says the first thing that happens when people are in survival mode is to get quiet. It’s not a natural thing to be big and be loud and take a stand. There has to be a collective voice that comes forward and speaks and shares and doesn’t stop until it’s all out and the wound has been cleansed. When the reparations have been made we can move forward with projections of love and peace and light. If we put “love and light on top of a bunch of crap, it’s not doing anything.” “Spiritual Activism is a new way to think about it. What happens when we get centered and project that and send that out.”

    “We do these events for ourselves so we can get to a place where we are strong so we can be courageous and have a voice and speak the truth.”

    Simultaneously these events are to empower leaders to be strong and courageous and say something and do something. Whether it’s giving money, volunteering, having your voice heard on social media.

    This year has taught us we are all connected physically and energetically.

    Wahe Guru says there has to be reparation! There has to be an action that comes out of it. What leaves it really unsettling for everyone is that people get all riled up about a social issue like what’s happening in Armenia, and then the next thing comes along and it gets forgotten. It doesn’t stop. The horrors are still happening. What I have done personally, I have made a commitment to regularly get present about issues I am passionate about.

    Ani - How do we fill up the cup? How do we release fear?

    “It’s hard not to be fearful, but everything is an energy. Fear is an energy of it’s own. The more fear we have we are feeding into it. It snowballs so you’re feeding into it.”

    Ani says for example if you’re having an argument with someone and one person decides to smile and say something positive, they shift the energy.

    As a diaspora Ani says we need to hold that space for Armenia and Artsakh to hold space for our brothers and sisters overseas.

    The fear might also come back as come up from the past.

    How do we practice SELF CARE during these times? How is it okay? When we’re all consumed by so much going on.

    Ani says she was physically feeling ill going through the news feed. We need to have a balance and connect with nature and the divine and then come back.

    WG says self-care and self love can express itself in multifaceted ways. If we are interconnected, and accepting there is one force of love, then self care is making a phonemail, making a donation, posting and educating people on social media. She says our brothers and sisters in Artsakh are us. They’re me and you. There has to be a balance of action, and the daily ‘drinking in the nectar of the moment,’ that’s where our spiritual practice comes in: Eating fresh food, meditation, walking meditation, cold showers, we have so many choices. We have to decide this is how I’m going to be an activist and this is how I am going to take care of ourself.

    When the room is dark and you’re taking care of yourself you become the light holder for those around you.

    Wahe Guru says We’re in the war too, we have to treat our bodies like we’re preparing for the war. We have to be conscious of how we show up for people.

    How do you practice Self Love and Self Care? Especially in a time like this.

    Wahe Guru:

    “I do my practice imperfectly but I do it with compassion”

    Daily meditation. “I’ve let go of any need for it to be a certain way.”

    Connecting with nature; The animals, the plants, the trees. There is a dynamic exchange that happens in nature.

    Yoga, regularly, not everyday but regularly. Chanting, meditation and I read a lot of spiritual text.

    Rather than doing things disciplined everyday, I have seasonal practices and traditions I do.

    Ani:

    As a mom of 3 year old twins, her way to practice self love has been signing up for a yoga certification class. It’s been a getaway one weekend a month. Taking a few breaths here and there, doing meditation when I can. One important thing is to pay attention to your breath. You have to experiment what works for you.

    “In The End We All Become Stories.”

    Kristine Kumuryan has that tattooed on her as a reminder that we all carry a story in our hearts.

    After you’re gone, she says we all become stories, and your family, friends will carry on your stories.

    Kristine and I met at 'Women Move Mountains' event in Burbank CA.

    Kristine is the creator and host of Kandid Koffee, a an online program designed to shed light on influential Armenians in Southern California. She aims to interview and showcase inspiring stories.

    Kristine launched “Kandid Koffee” after she closely watched the revolution in Armenia in 2018. She says it was the 'people in the streets stories' that inspired her to share stories of Armenian people in her local community. “You saw these kids, moms with strollers, & not one bullet was shot, not one knife hit someone's skin. It was so peaceful
 it was so inspiring for me.”

    She later went to Armenia to interview people. It was 'fueling love and energy' seeing it all, she said.

    Kristine says all this was going on during a rock bottom in her life. “It was an avalanche of shitty things happening for me.” This was the time she wanted to do something to share stories of her community.

    “I wanted to show Armenian’s in that really good light, in that positive light, there are so many Armenians that barely get screen time. I wanted that fuel of that Armenian pride with everything going on with the revolution to continue with my show.” Q & A with Kristine What are some interviews that left an impact you’d like to share?

    Kristine: There are so many that stand out to me, they all have great stories. I’ll give you one male and one female. The male: Last year I interviewed a young man named Arman Vardanyan, who is a veteran of the 4-day-war in Armenia. He shared his experiences of a life threatening situation where he was stuck in the tank with bombs going off. We lost 106 people. I told his story and paid homage to the others. He’s such a good man, and we really connected and I felt so much love for him for doing what he did. Coincidentally my cousin in Armenia was on the frontlines of that war. It was sad and emotional, but it had a happy ending because he came out of it, and he is doing great things.

    Another one is Talar Keoseyan, she befriended me so quickly and we clicked so well. She is like my soul sister. When we connected she told me a lot of things about her life. I love that even after the interview we stayed friends. It’s organic. So I love when people become friends with me through my show and I can say she’s someone who is a friend, someone that comes over and we have wine and cheese night.

    Where did Vintage Kriss begin?

    I had some doubters as to how this career is going to go. I’m 4’10, not a runway model. But I found this niche where I feel I represent vintage clothes well. I shop at vintage places. There are also many boutiques here in Burbank. I’ve been published with several of them. I may be contracting something with one of them soon.

    “We’re going to make this setback a major comeback!”

    What lessons, or stories would you want to be remembered by?

    I loved Joan Rivers. God rest her soul. I love fashion, the runway, the red carpet and the spicy things she’d say. I would say I wish I could do something like this. It’s what I felt genuinely. I have two little girls. It’s tough being a mom. I don’t just want to be admired and loved as a mom. I am a woman. I am an entrepreneur. I want to be remembered as someone who did it all to the fullest of my capability.

    What do your girls say when they see that?

    My older one who is 7, says mommy, I’m so happy you’re doing your show. I let her watch the appropriate ones. She came to me to Talar’s show. She loves that I’m on YouTube. She wants me to be on a Billboard, and the Armenian channel and E!. I love that she admires that and has stars in her eyes when she watches that. I know she’ll be ten times more ambitious when she’s older. As a parent you can do only do your absolute best, stop kicking yourself about things. Do your best and hope everything will be okay.

    What do you do to practice self love and self care? Daily routine? Tips?

    The easiest way, for me. I love going on a hike or walk or something around nature. Hikes make me feel better. It’s my therapy. Working out is my therapy. I go on walks with my daughter when the weather is nice.

    So many things can trigger stress. When I was at my lowest. Aside from a actual therapy and working out and surrounding myself with great people who love me and were there for me, I went through a lot of self loathing during something points. It was like putting pieces together for the ultimate uprise kind of thing.

 but getting up every morning and getting ready. Get up get ready. Put on an outfit that makes me feel good . What’s the alternative? Looking like shit and feeling worse?

  • Allowing ourselves to be human | Looking for the effortlessness | Building Momentum | & The Forced Self Reflection I feel as though I am entering a new phase in my lif, and I thought I’d call this the unofficial season 2 of the Hey Heart 143. Remember 143 means I love you so we’re saying Hey Heart, 143. My First guest of 2020 is Beatris Karaoglanyan, her spiritual given name is Sat Avtar Kaur, but she likes to call myself Be, because it reminds her to just be. Beatris or Be, is the the creator of Relationships and Yoga, Healing and Awakening! She helps guide her clients into wholeness through Shamanic Coaching, Spirit Journeying, Soul Retrieval and clairvoyant divination. She weaves spirituality with science, connecting many different technologies to bring wholeness and healing for her clients and students. She is passionate about discovering and providing what is needed for healing and real transformation to take place. I loved what Beatris said in one of the yoga classless I attended with her where she said to the class... “ Life should be 90 %effortless and 10 % effort.” I think I’ve tried to carry that in a lot of things I do. How can we brig that into our daily life? B says she learned this mantra on a retreat with another teacher who would push them on their run in Big Bear, California. Her teacher told her to look into nature, and receiving effortlessness and inspiration from nature, and to keep that 10 percent effort going. “I brought this into my life, I noticed how much more fun life becomes. A lot more inspiration came in. There was a lot more ease a lot more play,” says Be. She says she learned to be more aware. “We as a society push ourselves. We’re taught to work hard, and if you’re working hard enough maybe you’ll be successful, and you will be worthy of the reward, but this 90 percent effortlessness inspiration threw that old power out and made life more about what calls me forward, and what makes me want to live my life.” Q: During this COVID19 pandemic, I’ve noticed social media is saturated with this ‘work hard’ and ‘come out of this with a side hustle,’ and more messages that could make some feel badly. Be: It is okay to rest. “If there is a ‘should’ in a sentence, forget about it. This should, could, would, stuff takes us out of our truth and makes us do what other people think is right.” Let the “SHOULD” go. “The should’s are basically in the way, by sucking your energy out. It makes you feel like you’re not enough. If you can, let go of the should, and receive the inspiration. Does it inspire you to get the new skills going or does it make you feel like it’s too much work and it’s not aligned with you. If it throws you into overwhelm you need to let it go. If you’re inspired to hustle, to create a website, to go on a run, to do workouts go for it! But don’t do things because others are telling you to. This is what creates that effort. If it throws you into overwhelm, you need to let it go for now. Overwhelm means you already have too much on your plate. Daily habits Be sticks to. 1- Morning Yoga practice 2- Evening hike/walk in the mountains. Be says this is her alone time with herself, and this helps her be her true self to not be distracted by the ‘should’s’ of other peoples’ opinion. This allows her to see who she truly is. Be has a government Job, working for the EPA, and teaching yoga in the evening. You can find B teaching Yoga on ZOOM through the Awareness Center. Beatris says the pandemic has expanded her practice through what’s possible through technology. Q: You mentioned this is ‘waking us up? What does that mean to you? Be: This is a full on death and rebirth of humanity. We have never experienced anything like this as a whole. The new beginning that comes through death and rebirth creates amazing transformation. We’re seeing the air is cleaner. There is less traffic. We’re going inwards. “Our shit is floating up, we’re sitting with ourselves we’re forced to sit with our shit. Whether it’s fear or anxiety whatever has been stuck in those old, old hidden cracks and crevices. It’s floating up and we get that sift that off our the top of our spirit surface and clear it out. There is a major clearing that’s happening to all of us. I am hearing you’re doing the work. You’re letting fear and whatever it is come up and sitting with it and moving to a better place through dancing, through whatever you need to feel better. This is an amazing practice!” “The other thing I wanted to say is about this whole social distancing thing. We need connection. In our culture, it demands separateness, it demands disconnection. We haven’t known to connect heart to heart. This Coronavirus (social distancing) is in a way helping us connect to ourselves, our true selves. From those true selves we have the natural ability to connect with each other in a deeper way. Soul to soul level rather than head to head.” “A lot of us are condemning our human experience by saying we should be doing this or shouldn’t be doing that. Allowing ourselves to be human, means allowing ourselves to have those moments where we lose control and binging, or falling into depression or we’re scared or anxious. All those stuff that’s linked to survival that has helped us through millions of years is part of our human experience.” Q: I’m hearing it’s been very difficult for people living entirely alone. The uncertainty makes it difficult for a lot of people. B: Uncertainty is big, it’s always present. Certainty is an illusion. It’s part of our illusive reality that keeps ourselves unaware and numb. Uncertainty in nature is ‘normal stuff,’ what keeps me balanced is trusting that I am connected to my inner self. I am connected to great spirit. I am held. I am supported. God supports me. Whatever God is to you, to me God is this conscious aware energy that is within everything. It is alive with everything that’s out there and in there. I am in constant co-creation with God. This helps me feel like there is complete certainty in the Uncertainly. I have control because I’m in communication with the creator. I am the creator and the creator within me is creating with the big all creator. There is no fear of death, or loss, everything is continuously changing and transforming and there is one thing that’s changeless, and that’s the inner truth. That’s me. All the other stuff is uncertainty. GETTING TO YOUR TRUTH. Sometimes it takes effort to sit yourself down and go in, I would recommend, to have little tiny commitments. Sometimes we tend to be big thinkers and commit to 45 min meditation and an hour run and yoga everyday. The universe loves momentum. You start small, two minute meditation everyday. If I want to do more that’s fine, I’m allowed to do more. Don’t change the commitment of that two minute commitment until you get momentum. There is this lizard brain that shuts down when we get scared or overwhelmed it goes into that lizard brain and the fight, flight, freeze experience kicks in and we literally cannot think and then we think we can’t do it. I’m just going to binge. We beat up on ourselves. So little commitment. What is it that inspires you? What is it that your spirit says. Maybe instead of a long walk you just go stand outside. The 10 percent effort is, ‘I’m going to walk and stand outside.’ What feels like your 10 percent effort? Walk and stand outside. If spirit calls me I’ll start walking. Be’s 143 Self Love Tips. *See what inspires you, what makes you feel self love. Sit with that. Maybe sit with your journal and ask yourself what does self love look like? For me it’s hiking out in nature, taking a bath, writing, pulling a card everyday from my oracle deck. *Self love looks like saying ‘No’ to something. Saying ‘no thank you.’ Saying ‘YES' to whatever aligns with me. That’s self love. Saying ‘yes’ to something I’ve been afraid of but I know this is something that I want. *Being committed to holding on to my power, and not giving it away. Repeat after me... Be’s mantras posted on her wall. 1- When she feels like you SHOULD be doing something. So many people are 'guilted' into going to parties, attending pot-lucks, and drinking around the holidays. Whether you're all for the fun or go because you have to, many can't help by feel the 'guilt,' when indulging. This goes year round, but it's particularly heightened this time of year. Some psychologists say a little bit of guilt is normal, but to feel that shame constantly can lead to unhealthy patters and bad feelings about food. It could lead to emotional or eating disorders overtime. Jessica Nusbaum speaks with me about finding the balance when you can and the importance of healing your relationship with food. Many clients come to her when they've reached a place of 'can't do this anymore,' so she works on creating a consistent healthy lifestyle for her clients. She says you can’t treat the holidays any differently than the rest of the year. When it comes to New Years resolutions, the all for December and nothing for January isn't the best option.   • Dan has such a light energy to him. He’s always making others laugh around him. In this episode we speak about his transition from Australia to the States. How it’s like to live and work in the TV industry in Los Angeles. Navigating through pain. Dan says he had a great childhood but as a gay boy he felt he didn’t fit into his school setting. He is from Geelong, Australia. He says most of the bullying that took place in Junior and High school he felt it was the whole school against him. When you’re so used to the whole school being against you he says he never wants to see anyone hurting. “I’m very sensitive, and I never want to hurt anyone, I always want to make them laugh.” When he switched schools, he decided he’d change his attitude and come up with a survival method to avoid bullying. His life lesson through all of this has been “worthiness.” It’s probably still there deep down you think it’s gone because it was so far away but it’s still very much there, worthiness is what I struggle with from that. I grew up in a household where I was told I was worthy. My parents always instilled worthiness into me but having been unworthy time and time again for a decade to my peers it didn’t matter how worthy my family made me feel. He shares a story of his mother who he says weighed up to 300 lbs at one time and did everything she could to lose the weight but even at 300lbs she’d walk into a room like she’s a rockstar. Everyone else in the world that I deal with on a daily basis is telling me I’m not worthy. I feel this lesson will follow me for the rest of my life. “You make sunshine out of rain.” “Rooster one day and feather dust the next day.” Los Angeles is a city that’s constantly telling you you’re not enough. It’s not just Hollywood. But Hollywood is magnifying what everyone is going through. I get rejected a least 10 times a week from roles because I am considered not enough for that role. It doesn’t make sense with this upbringing that I had. Dan Babic says it comes naturally to put on a show for him. It is my form of meditation he says. It’s interesting I chose show biz. A lot of people who work in Hollywood want to feel worth. Dan says his form of meditation is working in show business. He says he feels most present through his line of work. He says his job keeps him grounded, sane, and the chatter of his mind. This and being in nature he says. Tips for self love from Dan Babic: Stay off your phone for 24 hours. Go into nature, go somewhere with no cell service “It’s the most relaxing thing in the world.” Do what makes you happy (ice cream? Movies? etc. Be kind to yourself. Everyone always says the one thing to do when you look back in your life is to just relax. Dan says to him happiness and love and light is always around the family. That’s why he’s spent his sick days binge watching the Sound of Music he says the movie is a giant symbol of through darkness there is light. Dan shares he struggles with wrapping his mind around why many of us are so blessed in the states and in third world countries people cannot even get water. He speaks to me about the sorrow he’s felt visiting orphanages and villages where people struggle with disease and hunger. He says there is a lot he’s seen with his own eye that he’s felt helpless about. “It just seems like it’s in Western countries that everything happens for a reason. There are so many people who are just trying to survive.” He says he loves to give back and it brings purpose to his life. Read on to learn about about Renata Stone and her journey to awakening her soul, filling her heart with love, joy and fulfillment. When Renata Stone said she was quitting her job to sell everything she owns and travel the world, people told her exactly what you'd expect them to say. "You're crazy." That's too bad she said and left the states for eight months of travel. Spending time in Europe and Asia, when she got to Thailand she went on a meditation retreat. Renata says she had a violent childhood growing up. Raised in a rigid, judgmental up-bringing with a father who was abusive at the time. "I had to work for everything I had. I paid my way through school. At 13 I had a car-washing business." She once labeled herself as an atheist who was neither spiritual nor believed in a religion. Transformational breath-work in Thailand is what changed her life. "It was non-stop breathing for 2 hours." She was open to it. She saw so much in that time. She forgave her father. She became a different person. Her relationship with her father has changed. "There is no one I can't love," Renata says. I sold everything I had. I got rid of my apartment and backpacked the world for 8 months! Renata became a different person after this spiritual journey. It's been the most beautiful gift of my life. I love my employees she says. What you want more of you must give more of. She went back into the workforce slowly. Coming back she worked at the winery where I met her. We met at Kelsey Winery! Side note: While writing this article I bumped into Renata again at Kelsey winery which is about 3 hours north of LA. We both go there pretty sporadically and happened to be there twice at the same time! She then went with the company she felt is most philanthropic. "They do free surgery for people in need." A giant career milestone. Renata is the only female in her YPO chapter. In 2019, Renata was accepted into the elite Young Presidents Organization (YPO) which is an international organization of presidents and CEOs under the age of 45. I want to help inspire other women to hit that kind of goal. Renata wanted more intellectual stimulation and wanted to surround herself with others with that similar goal. Renata's advice on how to start your mornings. Mindful morning: Every morning you should read meditate journal and exercise. This is the ultimate loving yourself. The first thing I do is stretch and breath in love into my body. She wakes up 4:45 or 5am everyday. If you wake up an hour early everyday that's a lot of life you're adding to your day.     Kelsey Crystal is from Virginia, she moved to Texas for school and treatment after getting very sick from a myriad of autoimmune diseases. Talk about a plot twist.

    She started a side business using her clairvoyant gifts. She says she helps people find clarity and purpose through her readings.

    Kelsey became very sick from toxic black mold on top of other autoimmune issues that she says stemmed from the toxicity. She exhausted all her options in the northern Virginia area. At one point her vertigo was so bad she couldn’t get out of bed. “I had brain fog so bad I couldn’t remember anything. I couldn’t do anything on my own, it affected me so badly.”

    When she was diagnosed with all this and found out it was from mold Kelsey says she thought I was the only person in the world affected with this. “I joined a group and noticed there are so many others affected with this issue.”

    The type of doctors she found that treat this well are the holistic and natural medicine doctors. There are different degrees where MTHFR gene is what I carry, so this means my body isn’t able to detox toxins as well as others, that’s why I got so sick overtime I get exposed to it.

    She realized so many people affected with this are highly intuitive like herself. She noticed a giant spiritual connection to many people affected by mold.

    She remembers a moment where she called her best friend crying, “I feel like I am paralyzed for life and won’t be able to walk again.”

    “I was very depressed for a very long time.” She couldn’t do the girlie things she enjoyed because she became so sensitive to toxins. She felt as though she lost everything. Grieving the loss of everything from her apartment to health and identity. Emotionally it was draining but what kept her in good spirit is knowing she can help others with her gifts and journey.

    Kelsey says she discovered her clairvoyant gifts in her teens. The older she became and the more she went through her gifts became stronger.

    Clairvoyant = A fancy word for psychic. Meaning she gets visions of peoples past/present/future.

    Medium = Someone who can connect with deceased loved ones.

    While using these gifts she decided to use them to start a side business from home.

    Today Kelsey has clients all over the world. I thank my clients for showing up for themselves.

    How does getting a reading help others?

    Kelsey says using her gifts she picks up more of peoples past. “Here is my theory, I personally think everybody has dealt with trauma at some level. I think the word trauma has been thrown around under-diagnosed. Whether it’s emotional, mental, physical, sexual, financial we’ve all dealt with it.” So picking up things from the past, I see the connection of the blockages in their chakras because they’re holding this trauma in. If we don’t release our trauma it turns into disease.

    “Keep pushing forward if you’re going through a tough time. Better days are ahead. Believe in yourself even if nobody else believes in you.”

    "It's not going to take away how I live my life," says Karla Fish who was told at the age of 20 she wouldn't make it past the age of 21. It was a time in her live where she lose her infant daughter. That's when she found out she had cancer throughout her pregnancy. Today she says she's a different person than that 20-year-old. In 2019 Karla turns 40-years-old and lives a life as an optimist and a loving wife and is surrounded by love and confidence she never could have imagined. Karla turned her diagnosis into hope, and in the last three yers she's become public, and able to share her story with hopes to help other women who may be in the dark with their diagnosis. Karla says you need to put your health first. Today she says she loves her husband on such a deep level because they have had some difficult situations. She says going through uterine cancer was something she went through with her husband it wasn't just her. She says anything can be thrown at us and if we really put things into perspective we can get through it. "I see Dwayne in such a different way than I have before, we are so connected," she says. A lot of women are afraid to share this because it's a "womanhood" disease. In quotes. She says people open up to her when has events to spread awareness. Karla says when she shares her story she's seen that "We don't put ourselves first as women, we put ourselves last, women still put their health last, we worry about everything but ourselves." Just as we should be checking in with our heart, Karla says "we need to be checking in with our health. Women do not put themselves first this hurts my heart."   • Is there such thing as good or bad? Let's talk about the owl symbol I mentioned last week. Recently during a yoga class, the instructor brought in an owl feather with her. Crazy, this sign follows me again. The owl she said is telling us to look at our shadow. Think about it. The Owl’s x-ray vision eye’s allows it to see in through the darkness, and beyond the veil. You have to face your shadows and your fears, this helps you move beyond them and find true joy. The instructor started the class with a story of how a someone at her work was demoted. She said this person feared being demoted so much that they were consumed by the fear and it did end up happening. Now that they lost the one thing they were holding on to for dear life, they no longer felt like they were chained or trapped. They could be who they are. They could speak up without fear. Who knows what if this demotion, although financially difficult I’m sure, will help them grow in other areas within their field. What if it’s not a bad thing. What if this is a giant opportunity and not a failure. Wouldn’t you live a happier life if you looked at it that way? What is good or bad? Are you having a good day or a bad day? Are you being a good person or a bad person? Could it all be relative? So at the end of my class I was feeling good. Sometimes I spend the entire hour in tears, other times I try to quiet my mind. This time I was feeling pure joy. Hearing this story made me feel like I had let go of a side of me. This feeling of complete freedom is on the verge of being reborn. I think that’s why these signs of rebirth continue to follow me. Here is what I got— the Comfort card arching Azrael the message says “even the strongest person experiences upsetting situations and there’s no shame in taking time to heal your heart. This is a good times for quiet reflection upon your true feelings. Write them down in a private journal and call upon me to bring comfort to your heart and mind. I can help you sleep better at night and put your mind at east. The other card I put was an animal card that says to embrace spirit with a photo of an eagle. “Eagle conveys the powers and messages of the spirit; it is man's connection to the divine because it flies higher than any other bird. The eagle brings the message of renewed life because it is associated with the east winds - the direction of spring, dawn and rebirth.” This says you’re a spiritual being living a physical life. Embrace the spirit in your journey and reaffirm your connection with the Divine. The message ends with saying both the creative and the destructive, the beautiful and the ugly are born of the Divine. This takes me to the message of the good and bad. I had a talk about what message I had to learn from my last relationship. I continue to struggle to find the lessons in this. Yes I am a whole lot wiser. I don’t make excuses for other’s actions. I see where I could’ve paid closer attention instead of turning a blind eye. Innately I feel I have this giant heart of goodness, filled with love, care and the impulse to help heal and be good. My leadership today is different. I aim to heal by being leader and holding space. It is up to the individual. This is possibly one of the lessons I’ve taken from the heartbreak. You cannot help someone heal if they’re not ready or don’t want it. So when I told the yoga instructor that I don’t know where the mirror was, what exactly I was supposed to see. I told her, I never judged. She stopped me right there and immediately knew. I had always tried to be “good” yes in quotes. Would it have been "bad" to judge, she asked. Why? I have yet to figure it out. It’s probably because I liked the praise. It could be because I don’t want others around me to be stressed out, and in this vicious cycle as an empath I typically would end up feeling that stress. But she said maybe you could have judged? Why did you think that’s bad? In that moment I had one of those aha moments. Maybe
 I should have judged. Maybe it isn’t bad to judge. Maybe judging raises questions and opens you up to conversations you wouldn’t otherwise have. Is it bad? She told me she struggled a lot with good and bad in her 20s. Today she feels there is no such thing. This definitely does not mean throwing your morals out the window and being evil, but this notion of holding on so tightly to what our culture has engrained in us to believe is 'good'

 I think that might be hurting us in the long run? Something to think about. My experience is just that. My life experience. The people who have come to my life and hurt me, is just that, my pain and my healing, but I hope this story gets you thinking about your image and these labels of good and bad and meditate on if that’s hurting you or helping you. Is holding on to being labeled good actually a bad thing? Is there such thing as good or bad? On the first day we explored South Congress and enjoyed live music at the end of the night while taking in the sights, sounds and the warm summer breeze. I found the I love you so much mural, 143! It had been a while since I had spent an entire night just letting my hair down, feeling the music and dancing. It felt like I wanted to say welcome back Nataly, welcome back! We floated to San Marcos River which was both fun and relaxing that same day we went to the bat festival. Things got emotional unexpectedly. I meant to speak about this on the podcast but I guess it wasn’t meant to be spoken about and totally glanced over this part of my show notes. While at this festival I started to become very anxious. I felt I was visited from a ghost from my past. It remains a part of the healing process. I got very angry for allowed the past to come up (fire emotion). I think this anxiety and pain was supposed to pop up on my trip because the trip was a lot about new beginnings and to me I think I need to be reminded of the old, to be able to bring in the new. I was very upset at myself at the old memories that very temporarily popped up on this trip. I was also proud because I was not consumed by it, and it was a feeling in passing and for the first time I paused. I set a boundary. I walked away from the crowds. I felt the emotion in the moment. I didn't mask it in any way. I took a deep breath. I happened to be with a good friend who understood what I was going. I felt the feelings and then I felt the next morning I I had released them. Bats! The city of Austin has 1.5 million bats migrating each year, and they have built their home under the Congress Avenue Bridge. It happens to be the largest urban colony of bats in North America. It’s majestic watching them spiral into the summer sky like a world. It’s definitely an unusual tourist attraction I didn't know about. This is so in line with my summer and the theme of my year. Doing some research on that spirit animal here is what has come up: Is says it’s time to prepare for major life changes. Bats can help you if you’re fearful of transition. Bats are misunderstood and they’re associated with the underworld because they only come out at night. They are actually sweet and cuddly and a lesson to not judge a book by its cover. In China bats represent good fortune and longevity. We'll take it! This segues to my final day where I checked out the countryside and took a tour of the LBJ ranch and saw President Lyndon B. Johnson's boyhood home. Theme of the day... the Owl! Owl We made a stop at the locals farmers market. In Johnson City. I was walking and checking out the booths where I did a total double take. This is where I met Phoenix. YES Phoenix. Could it be more symbolic of rebirth? She was majestic check out the video

This is look forward to continuing. “EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.     A multidisciplinary artist, Stefni Valencia is an inspiration to women.She not only sings, she’s a composer, actress, events and radio host, and teacher of aerial art.

    She became a motivational speaker to young students when she was only in junior high. She knew early on she had to be her own best friend and a friend discovered this confidence and maturity and encouraged her to speak to young adults.

    Stefni uses the stage to share not only her art and passion for music but also to instill confidence in both young and adult women. She says this confidence leads to better choices in friendships, relationships and living a true authentic life filled with fulfillment and joy.

    She has worked with at-risk youth. She says “You have to be fearless and know who you are.”

    What I learned from Stefni:

    Know who you are.

    Be happy with who you are.

    Do things for yourself.

    Stefni says "It doesn’t matter what ones baggage is, what matters is this moment.” A question to consider
 What makes you happy? Do you know what makes you happy?

    When doing an excercise with adults she discovered that a majority of adults couldn't feel comfortable walking into a room and introducing themselves.

    “I didn’t realize how intimidating it was for people to walk into a room and introduce yourself.”

    “I am exuding this confidence that I feel good.” Stefni says if I tell someone I look adorable in sweats, then if I walk in they will tell say "I look adorable in sweats."

    If you don’t know who you are, you get vacuumed into someone else aura.

    Stefni tells me a story about going to your wonderland.

    “Go to your wonderland”

    Here is an exercise Stefni says to consider when it comes to picturing and truly living the life you want.

    She tells me she had a conversation with junior high students about ‘self-esteem,’ and when you find the significant other to stay true to yourself.

    “The moment you start allowing and making excuses that’s when you start opening up the floodgates.”

    She says to close your eyes and walk into a world, like your own wonderland. Picture the best version of yourself. What do you see? What do you look like, what are you wearing?

    She said how many of you look exactly the same. How many looked like a different person.

    She said one girl pictured herself with different outfit, and short hair
 the next day that person found Stefni. She was actually a teacher, not a student. She said she later went home and broke up with her boyfriend. Stefni said it took a high schooler to come and open my eyes for me to realize I was living a sham of a relationship. She was looking a certain way for her boyfriend.

    She told Stefni when she walked into that ‘wonderland’ she looked like how she used to look before this man came into her life and slowly changed her. The woman didn’t even think she wasn’t getting dressed for herself. She was living for him. She thanked Stefni for allowing her to see the change she needed to make.

    Stefni says if you even touch one person who can relate, that’s one person whose life you changed today. “My way isn’t the right way, my way is just my way,” Stefni says this is where the confidence comes into play to live your most authentic life.

    Ways to stay grounded:

    Unplug from digital life.

    Life is passing you by it’s not going to stop. It’s not going to rewind. Focus on your breathing.

    Look around.

    Sit at a coffee shop and people watch.

    Take the moment to yourself to see what’s around you, instead of what’s next.

    Literally stop and smell the roses.

    Get back to what you want and need in life.

    What is Kundulini Yoga and Meditation?

    An ancient practice that comes from India. It was originally cultivated by the Sikh Religion.

    It came to the United Stated in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan. It was once a secret type of yoga. It was for those yogis who are going to dedicate their life to the practice of yoga and practice the yogic technology.

    Yogi Bhajan’s guidance was to come to America and bring it to everyone. The powerful techniques would be available to everyone.

    It is Asana (postures) that awaken the natural energy in the spine and help you circulate that powerful energy,(the Prana life force energy), and work with your circulatory system, digestive system and beyond. There are techniques to help balance it out.

    Stimulate glands and organs to secrete in the proper way to balance hormones and regulate your emotional system.

    You work on regulating major muscle groups of the body. It’s a holistic balance.

    There is also mantra, which are positive words and phrases to help shift people to a new paradigm of thinking. It changes the neuron-pathways.

    The benefits are to live a happy, healthy and wholly life where creativity is accessible, where you can be authentic, speak your truth. Wahe Guru says one student told her this is “the missing manual on how to be human.”

    What is the Healing Breath?

    Wahe Guru describes the healing breath:

    The healing breath is a Pranic technique that is a standalone technique. You can do this whatever traditions you come from and believe. It’s a natural technique. A three part breath done through the open mouth for emotional release, release of physical pain, old traumas. It brings up stuff from your subconscious mind. You can see it and begin to face it or deal with with.

    “I’ve had clients who don’t believe it’s possible, I say just try it. It’s amazing the things that have come up.”

    Where it takes you, it takes everyone to exactly the place they need to be. It’s an intelligent life force energy that just knows where it needs to go.

    We have an inner awareness of what is happening to us. Whether we acknowledge it or not is up to us.

    The healing breath can work for anyone. People who have an openness to spiritual experiences will often have visions. It’s almost like a movie in your mind. It expands your ability to problem solve. If you haven’t done it you can’t imagine how breathing can accomplish these things.

    You can be in chaos and can learn to process the feelings in the moment rather than suppress them.

    Something that’s been hidden from me is coming to the surface to be revealed. It’s freeing to be in this place. You can look at it and say wow I have survived so much I’ve had so many instances that could have taken me somewhere else.

    Feelings are the sense of the soul; On one hand they are very important to listen to, but through the intuition. When we have feelings and we pay attention to them through the mind or the ego that’s where we can get into trouble. The ego and interpret feelings and make up a story about why that is so but that story may not be true. We have to be aware of our feelings and see them through the filter of the intuition.

    Feelings are like the weather, they are meant to pass through. At the sun is shining one day, then you see a cloud, then a thunderstorm passes through. Feelings are true to you in the moment but it doesn’t always mean what you think it means.

    Wahe Guru says practicing everyday is a choice. She says she has to put herself in a place where she can’t make excuses. It’s only possible to do what she says she wants to do. She has non-negotiable practices.

    Carley is someones whose story I felt like I immediately could relate with. I didn’t have to dig too deep to see the parallels of being overworked, underpaid and speed too thin and dealing with Chronic boundary violators in past.

    “Carley once worked in the intense corporate world of NYC, spending her workdays people pleasing and her nights and weekends reeling with sleepless anxiety. She struggled with low self-with and poor relationships. Over the past few years, she went through a process of personal transformation and realized her issues arose from being afraid to say no-whether out of reluctance to hurt others’ feelings or due to her own crippling anxiety. She quit her corporate job and graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York.”

    Carley speaks with me about her first time experienced an anxiety attack. On the outside her life seemed so perfect. She had what looked like a wonderful fashion job any girl would die to have. She looked around and realized her path and life goals wasn’t aligned with herself.

    Moving to New York after college and working in the fashion industry was a natural next step in her life. Carley made the the decision to step out of the role and pursue what brings her joy.

    The next step? It was scary, she tells me. In 2015 she enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition while still working her full time job. She saved up while going to school and working the full time job. She paid off her coaching tuition and started to take in clients and become her own boss. She then quit her corporate job.

    She was no longer the “people pleaser,” that was so unhealthy for her.

    Carley says it’s okay to say no.

    This has been an issue I’ve personally struggled with for years. It was such a blessing to meet Carley when I was looking for a boundaries expert and someone who has taken a leap of faith.

    A big theme in my HeyHeart143 conversations have been getting to this deeper level of authenticity. Which is really funny because today I learned my “moon sign,” in scorpio which is apparently the deepest sign according to astrologers meaning I go deeper in conversation and in life.

    In other conversations about meditation, or yoga, or healing breath we speak about digging so deep into our soul we release layers until getting to our authentic and highest selves.

    In Carley’s book, she writes “I wrote this book for those who want to get reacquainting with their authentic, truest, highest selves (maybe for the first time!).

    Carley tells me she equates this ‘reacquainting to authentic self,’ like peeling layers of an onion.

    She was captivated by what she was reading online about nutrition and everything she wanted to coach people through. This is when she felt she can see crystal clear for the first time in a long time and made a firm boundary with herself to cancel her Saturday plans and focus on herself. It was during these moments Carley says to pay attention to the subtle feelings you feel when you’re drawn to something you enjoy. “I always tell people to sit down and reflect and what’s most important to them.”

    “Get super clear without input from others.”

    What’s important to you will only come from you.

    “We all have the opportunity to find those moments, we just have to get quite enough and start digging around.”

    Carley says to allow your mind to get quiet and allow your body to digest everything that’s going on. “The title of my book came to me when I was getting a massage, not when I was sitting at my computer thinking of the process.”

    I love this lesson.

    Carley speaks with me about setting boundaries, with friends, family, self and business. When we think of boundaries we think of (or at least I think of) just the external boundaries I have with others.

    Having internal boundaries, Carley says, like “I’m going to gym at XX time everyday no matter what,” is a boundary.

    Boundaries for beginners:

    MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOURSELF.

    Setting a strong internal boundary honors your energy and what your body requires. Often when people have issues setting boundaries Carley encourages them to set boundaries internally. “How can you modify you behavior that doesn’t involved anyone directly to take a little bit of your power and feel more rested?”

    HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU’RE A PEOPLE PLEASER?

    “How many white lies have you told lately?”

    You don’t need make excuses or white lies to say no.You don’t need to feel guilty. This is a good indicator that you are taking on too much.

    Quote that stood out for Carley about our self respect at the workplace: “You’re hired for your talent and not your stamina.” Reframe your workday.

    Carley is 15 weeks pregnant at the time of this interview with her first baby. She says this has brought up many lessons from her past that keep coming back. Today she’s working on setting boundaries with unsolicited advice.

    Christina describes her experience with her divorce and how her ‘healer’ and ‘kundalini teacher’ training gave her the strength she needed.

    She said she put in a lot of work for her own joy. One of yoga mantra’s she says they did called 'SO PURKH' meditation is “MANTRA AND MEDITATION TO ATTRACT DIVINE LOVE”

    Christina says this is a mantra to elevate the men in your life. She describes using this meditation.

    She did all her work preemptively. “I did years of work.”

    Happiness is work!

    “I understand and maintain that my happiness will serve my kids.”

    In Kundalini practice we say Sat (truth) Nam (name or identity). It’s a mantra, a word or sound that carries vibration. When we say Sat Nam we acknowledge our true identity.

    Power words are part of her core philosophy: Authentic, Rainbows, Magic, Miracles.

    According to NASA, a partial lunar eclipse takes place when part of the moon enters the earth's shadow. The lunar eclipse on the 16th has brought in triggers for many to make necessary changes.

    I’ve been hearing from friends who feel like past emotions are being brought up. It’s time to level up. Eclipses are not to be feared.

    For me it’s been about detaching myself from my past. I’ve been very angry at myself for my own choices and I’ve been letting go of that anger toward me. I’ve been all about telling my own self, “How could you?” I’m releasing this.

    How has this month been for you? How have the last few days been for you?

    Healing:

    It’s not linear.

    Najwa Zebian is a beautiful writer, in one of her poems she says some people spend their whole lives healing and others wish they could. This resonates with me so deeply.

    Grandpa Sarkis Tavidian:

    This month my grandfather passed away on July 1st. He was an amazing man. I miss him everyday.

    I was able to give a 10 minute speech at his funeral. I prayed the night before for him to come to me and give me the strength to be able to get through honoring his soul and giving this speech.

    A small snippet from what I read.

    “The last time my dede was in the hospital, he asked me how much do you think these nurses make? They work so hard. I hope they're taken care of. Then he grabbed cash from his wallet and tried to tip a nurse who obviously said no, I can't take that. He was like C'mon!!!

    I tell this story because this is who he was to the core. Caring. Loving. Kind.

    He was also stubborn in a sense that when wanted something done. He got it done. His rent was paid at least 10 days before the end of the month. He was SO very responsible. On time for everything. Never late. He loved all his doctors and they all loved him. If there was nothing wrong with him, he'd still insist on seeing a doctor.     I LOVE dede so much. I'd call him every day when I was in college. Then when I got my first news job in Nebraska, I'd call to say hi everyday, and then I'd complain. I'd complain to him about the snow. About the cold. About being so alone.

    He'd tell me stories of how when he was around the age of 15 he lied about his age and said he was 18, so he can work as a civilian in the French army. This was the only way he could bring in money for his family. So when I had a bad day or thought it was too cold to live in Nebraska. I'd remember stories of how he slept in barns and his only source of heat was the breathe of horses.

    I'll say that again, his heater was the breathe of horses.

    How could I complain about anything. I had a heated car, and an apartment with a heater. He gave me SO much strength. So much hope. His stories kept me strong.

    He gave everyone strength.”

    Hey Heart 143 Ep. 2 - Beauty from our ashes | The Power of our Pain

    This episode is dedicated to our friend Brittani Idom (1988-2007), she passed away on July 6, 2007. She was a force to be reckoned with. She was a dreamer who wanted to accomplish so much in life. She wished to be a director and an architect, among many other dreams. Her name was the first story to pop up in our interview.

    Bio: Kimberley Baliutavicius is the co-owner of Crowned Fitness, a company thatÊŒs mission statement is “To help people achieve physical, spiritual, and emotional wholeness through fitness and nutrition.” Kimberley also uses her gifts and talents as a dancer and choreographer to create and perform routines on national and international bodybuilding competitions that bring awareness to mental health.

    Kimberley says “ItÊŒs extremely difficult to put in words what itÊŒs like to suffer from mental illness. And for many years, she said “I was afraid to speak up about my eating disorder and chronic depression, much less show it on stage for a whole audience to see. But as a performer and survivor, I felt that it was necessary for me to use my creativity and the stage as my platform to Break my own Silence.” Kimberley is an advocate for the #BreakTheSilence movement and promotes self-love and self- acceptance as the first step toward living your best life.

    Ep. 2 Show Notes

    My heart was smiling the entire time listening to Kimberly's story. Like so many facing every day battles, it’s amazing how much She thought her pain was lesser than. Comparing to that of others. She didn’t realize how powerful her PAIN was until she started stepping into her purpose.

    There was negative space, and a the tug of war inside her. She used that pain to express herself through movement, music and creating art. She said if she can use that power to affect people in a positive way then she’s winning.

    Kimberly spoke about a time where she understood why she felt completely out of control and why you’re doing the things you’re doing. She said, “I got to a place where I stopped trying to be somebody else, I didn’t realize that I really just didn’t accept myself.”

    Hitting rock bottom:

    I would say one of the first times I hit rock bottom was probably when I was in college, and actually you already know this story. It was when our close friend Brittani Idom passed away. That’s when I realized how broken I was. I was experiencing a lot of substance abuse at the time. I was getting into the college scene. After she passed away I fell down a pretty dark hole of depression, and it was really hard for me. I got into drugs and alcohol, and although I was pursuing my dreams in school, getting my BA in dance and theater, it was definitely one of those moments where I didn’t want to be here anymore.

    I didn’t understand why someone so amazing was taken from us so quickly and someone like me who I felt like a total mess up was still here. Screwing up. That was one of the first times I had to look at myself and say, what are you doing? Why were you spared?

    I actually had the opportunity because I was in school for art, to create movement and choreography and even monologues and different things based on that trauma. I didn’t realize how deep it was prior to the death of the my best friend. There was also the rejection and abandonment I had as a little girl.

    I hit rock bottom in front of everyone in class. I was in my modern dance class and we had to share what our piece was about. I never had a hard time being vocal about what’s going on with me but to create something so near and dear to my heart that was so emotional and so powerful that made other people weep.

    I realized that, that was my superpower. My pain was my power. My performance about my pain, and vocalizing it after make me feel invincible and connected to the world, where as before I isolated for so long and I numbed myself through substances.

    That was the first time when I hit rock bottom that there is power in it.

    “The second time I hit rock bottom was when I had my son, I had a very high risk pregnancy.” He had a rare condition that only 1% of pregnancies have.

    They suggested that we terminate the pregnancy because he wouldn’t survive.

    It was a really rough time, I just had my daughter she was only 6 months old and I was three months pregnant. I didn’t even finish understanding what it’s like to be a mom.

    Dealing with something so tragic was terrible.

    My husband and I focused on our faith.

    During one of those moments of prayer and surrender, I realized I was putting all the blame on me, and me thinking it’s my fault for producing an ill child and the guilt and regret of me thinking this is punishment for the bad things I did in life. It was really an intense journey that stretched my faith and built my endurance when it comes to life just throwing curveballs at you. My son is a miracle child. He’s about to be two years old now, and his health is impeccable.

    When I think about things that don’t make sense I think about that moment because the faith that it built within myself, that inner knowing, the affirmations I spoke, the visions I saw, I had to set my mind on things that were above and not what I was seeing.

    I had to live by faith not by sight.

    So it ultimately took me on this journey of living a fearless, faith filled life.

    It wiped me out. After he was born and things were still okay, I went through a really really deep depressions that was exhausting.

    I had a cloud over my head. It was hard to even be awake. I didn’t want to be around anybody I didn’t want to play with my kids. I just remember calling out to God and saying what is my purpose here? What is my identity as a mom, as a wife, I just felt so purposeless.

    In that calling out, I was able to remember who I was I got brief little things like randomly getting an email from someone asking for a dancer.

    Had you stop doing what you loved?

    I couldn’t just be a wife and a mom. I had to be who I really am. It stretched me.

    I was always seeking as well, I never truly committed to this is what it is, I have dreams I have goals. I had to take responsibility that it wasn’t going to stay that way. If I want things to change I can’t stay this way.”

    Opportunities came up and put me back in alignment.

    I was leading moms in this process, I was able to step up and be a leader despite my situation. Through my vulnerability while coaching other moms and women, it brought new light to me about what it means to be a leader. How it has NOTHING to do with how strong you are but about how vulnerable you can be about your weaknesses that’s your strength as a leader. When I was trying to act like everything was okay there was no power there no connection with the other women.”

    How did you make that conscious choice of ‘no this isn’t life.’

    I had a vision and that’s all I had. I knew that this isn’t what I wanted life to be like.

    Of course I went through my victimizing role and blaming everyone and blaming myself, but I accepted that this is a part of my journey.

    I accepted that this is a part of my journey. Power lies beneath all this crap.

    There is power there, there is a reason why I feel depressed. There is a reason for it. Something is out of alignment. A lot of it was me giving up on what I truly wanted to do, because I was a wife and a mom. I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do. Even though my circumstances didn’t change, me just taking a dance class ONE TIME realigned me and reenergized me.

    It wasn’t like OH I got all these paid opportunities, and now I’m going to be a professional dancer again. It was just taking one dance class and it made me happy. I saw it’s possible to be INSTANTLY RECHARGED and HAPPY.

    IT WAS little things like me going out in nature and playing basketball with my husband. It gives you little rushes of energy.

    Getting out of your rut:

    It’s definitely seeing the lesson, but also NOT trying to RUSH the process. You are feeling this for a reason and not trying to brush it off and pick yourself back up. Because I did that, I would always try to push though and fight through and fight it.

    It’s okay to not be happy.

    I was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder. I accepted it, but I also accepted the responsibility of what that meant!

    I was expecting them to put me on medication, but as I spoke all this wisdom was coming from within. I just needed to talk about it and understand who I was.

    I did the work, I didn’t BS. In those moment there was breakthrough!

    Would you say that that vulnerability makes someone stronger?

    It’s a sign of strength. I used to think that strength was your ability to be tough and angry and hard-spoken.

    Now I feel that strength is being like “I’m struggling, I am going through something. It opens up opportunities to help people come forward.”

    Nothing changed, I was ultimately in the same circumstance yet I was happy. I literally accepted it.

    Describe Self Love:

    I think self love is tough, it comes from a place of self acceptance.

    You have to tell yourself every single day, I am enough.

    Let’s talk about competing.

    Competing has challenged me in a way where I had to find out who I was faster. When people judge you based on how you look, especially because of what I do is very subjective. I do routines. I come in as a theatrical dancer background, and I am coming in and shaking up the industry. I have to be SO confident in what I do because everyone is so different.

    I do the National Physique Committee which is a a physique competition. My category in the fitness division is a 2 minute routine where you show all of who you are. Your creativity, dance, flexibility, power strength. You can do that however you want but there is a bias where they consider what fitness is.

    I am coming in with the identity of a dancer who has something to say. A person who isn’t afraid to talk about their journey through their routine. Creating work that is POWERFUL, IMPACTFUL EMOTIONAL. Even creating it and making a statement about the industry and the eating disorders and all the things that are happening within it in order to fit a specific mold. In order to be accepted by the judges, in order to be validated that they’re enough when they get a trophy. The only reason I feel like I’ve accelerated is because of my self acceptance.

    It sucks putting yourself out there and REALLY caring about what the judges are going to say. Even though they may not accept. It’s uncomfortable but it’s extremely powerful.

    She just placed 3rd in the national championships in Chicago.

    It was the biggest platform I had been on to this day.

    I feel it was super necessary for me to not win. NOW. I was upset then.

    It validates everything I stand for which is self acceptance. I know it was good, it was real, it was me.

    Of course I went back to the drawing board to re-strategize and recreate.

    That’s why I want to continue to step on that stage, not only for my own acceptance, but also for others to understand like you should be different you should be you, you shouldn’t be creating routines that fit the mold just because you want to win, you should use the platform you’re on, whatever THAT is to show the world who you are. You have a story to tell. You have power in your background and in your pain.

    About her next competition the Universe championships on 4th of July weekend in New Jersey:

    I never had this much excitement going into something. It’s more-so about my message and getting up there and spreading my message,I love how much I’m growing, you can’t do that sitting around.

    Right after that, Kimberly will be in Vancouver for the Pro Qualifier.
