Is a king who tore down temples and slaughtered false priests a hero or a cautionary tale? Preaching from 2 Kings 22–23, Dr. Doug Ponder walks through the reforms of Josiah—the only king in Israel's history who never turned to the right or the left—and finds in them a pattern for all of God's work: it begins with God's Word, goes forth through godly leaders, and destroys all that is ungodly. Ponder then carries that pattern across the cross to Jesus, the greater King, and asks what Josiah's zeal should look like in pastors who wield not a sword, but the sword of the Spirit. If you've ever been tempted to whisper about evils the Bible shouts about—or wondered whether faithfulness demands more fire than you've been told—this message will put steel in your spine.

What keeps a pastor standing when the culture shifts, the critics circle, and the easy thing is to drift? Preaching from Colossians 1:15–23, Dr. Doug Logan Jr. only has one answer: a Christ too big to bend. He lifts your eyes to the preeminent, all-sustaining Son—God in the flesh who reconciles enemies into sons—then warns that little compromises, not dramatic ones, are what hollow out a church. If you've ever felt your own convictions quietly slipping, or wondered what it takes to last in ministry without drifting, this message will steady you—and hand you a Christ worth planting your feet on.

Easter is the one Sunday a year when people who never darken a church door might walk through yours—so what will you tell them? Preaching from Matthew 28, Bryan Laughlin strips Easter down to its single, unavoidable claim: a man named Jesus walked out of his own grave, and no one gets to stay neutral about it. He walks through the three ways people meet the empty tomb—fear, denial, and worship—and stacks up the evidence that makes the resurrection impossible to wave away. If your faith has gone familiar, or you've never quite settled what to do with the risen Christ, this message will press the question back onto you and leave you with something far steadier than a religious ritual.SKIP AHEAD.(00:25) Reading: Matthew 28:1–20(03:06) What Is Easter Actually About?(06:52) What We Celebrate: A Man Risen From the Dead(11:00) Response One: Fear(15:31) Response Two: Denial(21:34) Why the Resurrection Is Undeniable(25:42) When Doubt Leads to Soul-Searching(26:41) Response Three: Worship(30:54) Where Worship Begins and Ends(34:32) Closing: A Living Hope (1 Peter 1)MORE FROM GRIMKÉ.✦ Grimké Seminary — Training Pastors and Planters in, by, and for the Churchhttps://grimkeseminary.org✦ Grimké College — Practical Biblical Studies for Every Christianhttps://grimkecollege.org✦ Grimké Europe — For the Church in Europe, Hosted in Liverpool, UKhttps://grimkeeurope.orgIN THIS VIDEO.✦ Bryan Laughlin — Chancellor, CEO & Professor of Theology and Missiology, Grimké Seminary; Lead Pastor, Remnant Church (Richmond, VA)https://grimkeseminary.org/academics/faculty/bryan-laughlin/THE GRIMKÉ PODCAST.https://grimke.org/podcastSUPPORT GRIMKÉ.✦ Want to support the work of Grimké Seminary? AI can write your sermon, find your verse, and answer a counseling question in seconds, but should we let it? Preaching from Genesis 4, Dr. Ponder hands pastors a framework for living faithfully in a world where, as in the days of Cain, the unbelievers keep inventing first. He presses the uncomfortable truth that no technology is ever neutral, because every tool you adopt is quietly reshaping you and then offers three principles for plundering the world's gold without melting it down into a golden calf. You'll come away slower to grab the next shiny tool, clearer on what only a flesh-and-blood shepherd can do, and reminded that God called you to pastor his people, not Grok or ChatGPT.

In his charge to Grimké's graduating class, John Piper preaches from 1 Peter 4:10–11 to settle one conviction deep in every pastor and Christian before they go: the ministry you are called to is supernatural, and everything that actually matters in it is humanly impossible. Piper presses the uncomfortable truth that you can build a big, busy church entirely without God—and that none of it will count for eternity unless God himself supplies the oracles and the strength. But he refuses to leave it there. Walking listeners into the thirty seconds before he steps into the pulpit, he hands over the decades-tested strategy he calls APTAT—Admit, Pray, Trust, Act, Thank—so that "serve in the strength that God supplies" stops being a nice phrase and becomes something you know how to do on Monday at the hospital, in the counseling room, and at your own kitchen table.

More and more of the people in your pews are quietly asking the same question: where can I go to be healed? In this chapel message, Bryan Laughlin preaches from Psalm 139 to confront the answer our culture keeps giving — modern therapy — and to show why a system built on the assumption that we can heal ourselves can never reach the place we’re actually broken. Tracing the secular foundations laid by Freud, Jung, Skinner, and others, Laughlin exposes a movement with no basis for health and no reason for life, then turns to the only One who made us, knows us, and helps us. Pastors will walk away with renewed confidence that they do not need to outsource the cure of souls, and every listener will be pressed with the question that decides everything: do you really believe Jesus is a Healer?

How does a pastor sit with someone who has suffered horrific evil and speak comfort that does not ring hollow? Joe Holland preached from Psalm 10 on the tension every minister will eventually feel: real, named wickedness in the world, and yet a sovereign, good God on the throne. Tracing the three lies the wicked tell about God against the counter-truths God speaks back in his Word, Holland brings students to the cross, where the goodness of God and the reality of evil are finally held together without flinching. Listen and be equipped to name evil as evil, rejoice that you yourself were once an enemy redeemed, and carry the hope of the risen Christ to the worst of the worst.

Matt Cohen preached from Luke 5:1–11 — the miraculous catch of fish — calling pastors and pastors-in-training to a lifetime of faithful, bold, joyful, optimistic ministry. Drawing Peter forward as a model, Cohen showed that this is no story about fish but a sign: Jesus is sovereign over the catch, and he loves to save sinners through ordinary servants who never grow bored holding out the gospel. The exhortation is simple and steadying — caught people catch people, so keep your eyes on the One doing the catching, and go fishing for him.

Dr. Mark Becton preached from Psalm 123, calling students to lift their eyes above the distractions that quietly overwhelm them — fears, worthless masters, hopelessness, and the belittling voices both around and within. Becton reminded graduates and students alike that the same God who delivered his people then is the good Master they serve now. Once you have looked to the Lord and worshiped him, look again at all that once overwhelmed you — you will see it differently in the light of who he is and who you are in him.

At our spring intensive, Dr. David Schrock preached from Luke 5:1–11 — the account of Peter's miraculous catch of fish — tracing how that story fulfills the promise of Jeremiah 16:16 to send fishers of men. Schrock called students to understand that for those in pastoral ministry, work and worship are inseparable. He warned them that while weariness in ministry is expected, weariness of ministry is dangerous, and urged them to bring every empty net, every sin, and every burden back to Christ — the one who raises the dead and promises grace for a lifetime of faithful service.
