  •  In this episode of Got Marketing?, we sit down with Meta Ads expert Tenai Seymour, founder of Ads Haus, to explore the evolving world of Meta advertising. Together, we break down how to avoid the pitfalls of generic Facebook ads and why a boutique, tailored approach often delivers better results.

We dive into the importance of being fully prepared before launching ads, making sure that key marketing elements—like a well-optimised website, active social media presence, and effective email strategy—are already in place. Ads should support and enhance your existing efforts rather than being seen as a standalone solution for success when other crucial elements are missing. This episode also provides you with practical tips on ad budgeting and the importance of using data to optimise campaigns.

  • In this episode, we dive into the world of celebrity and personal branding marketing with a spotlight on Snoop Dogg's recent high-profile campaigns. We discuss how Snoop has become an undeniable highlight of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, boosting NBC's viewership with his genuine and magnetic presence as a special correspondent. We also explore his successful BIC campaign with Martha Stewart, showcasing how clever, tongue-in-cheek marketing can connect with audiences and drive sales.

However, not every collaboration hits the mark. We analyse the pitfalls of Snoop's partnership with Solo Stove, where a viral PR stunt failed to translate into significant sales. Lillie Brown joins us to break down what small businesses can learn from these big-budget campaigns, emphasising the importance of authenticity, knowing your audience, and the value of emotional engagement in marketing.

  • How the f*ck are you supposed market to a generation who tune out from most advertising?

Gen Z is known for rejecting the status quo, from wellness culture to luxury brands, and their marketing tolerance is practically non-existent.

They are socially conscious, demanding and discerning, and their values are rubbing off on other generations. So whether you actively target Gen Z’s or not, you should listen up.

To have this conversation with me, today's guest is Lauren Meisner.

Lauren is the founder and director of the award-winning digital youth publication, Centennial World, reaching 2+ million Gen Z's per month. Prior to launching Centennial World in 2019, she was a beauty and entertainment writer for beautyheaven, ELLE Australia, and Harper's BAZAAR Australia. Lauren also writes the Gen Z viral news Substack 'infinite scroll' and co-host’s and produces Centennial World’s weekly internet culture podcast.

  • Creativity doesn't come in hours. So why are agencies still selling time?

We don't have to look too hard to see that the marketing industry is evolving at the speed of light, but marketing and advertising agencies have followed the same traditional agency model for over 40 years.

With experience in both the brand side and the agency, Mia has seen the problem from both sides of the fence.

So the big question is, is the traditional agency model broken?

To answer the question, today's guest is Pat Langton. After selling his agency to Hero/McCann last year, Pat founded and runs Hook Creative Studio with his brother Matt. Hook was born out of frustration with long lead times, high production costs, and inefficiency.

  • Brittney Saunders started as an OG 2010s YouTuber, girl next door from Newcastle who knew she wanted to make it big one day.

Flash forward to now, she's the CEO of her own uber-successful clothing brand, cafe owner, and podcast host. In her own words, she's busy, and she loves it.

Fayt The Label, her clothing brand, is a perfect example of how personal brands and business brands can intersect. Brittney cleverly leveraged her existing audience when building her clothing brand from the ground up, and it played a major part in getting her to where she is today.

It just so happens that Fayt is Campaign Del Mar's Digital Strategist, Emily, favourite brand at the moment. As an honorary Gen Z herself raised by beauty YouTubers and vloggers, it was love at first sight for her with the brand, and of course, it helps that they are absolutely killing their marketing, too.

Em joins me in the episode to unpack the marketing strategy behind the brand, and what our listeners can learn from Brittney and Fayt.

  • What's more important: brand marketing or performance marketing?

This has been a topic of contention in the industry, especially when it comes to prioritising your yearly marketing budgets.

Brand marketing is about creating future demand. It is creative advertising aimed at enhancing customer awareness of, attitudes toward, and affinity with their companies’ brands. Unlike brand marketing, performance marketing delivers tangible, reportable results.

But, both impact current revenue and long-term value. Perhaps we're missing the bigger picture where brand and performance marketing can work together?

    So, let's talk about it.

Today's guest is Erin Stafford, a Digital Account Director at Compass Studio. Erin’s been in agency land for the past 7 years and has spent her time with Compass Studio creating campaigns that amplify the impact of world bettering brands.

  • When a brand starts to see a plateau or a decline in their results, their reaction is often a band-aid fix, like some new social media tiles.

That won't solve their problem though. It's the underlying strategy, getting to know your audience intimately and building authenticity that will get you the results.

Businesses that don't evolve their brand, or mismanage it as they grow, aren't solving their problems.

Building a weather-proof brand is one of the biggest missed opportunities we see in small to medium sized businesses, and that's where today's guest comes in.

Renee Wallace is a fervent advocate for all things design, brand, female founders, service-based industries. She embodies a no-nonsense, powerhouse approach to fuelling brand success through her design services offered at Cultivate.

  • There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to achieving success on social media. The perfect social media strategy for one brand might be completely wrong for the next, but that doesn't mean we can't learn something from the approaches taken by other brands.

In this episode, we're going to explore the social media strategies used by some of my favourite brands to see how they're authentically building their community and their brand on TikTok, Instagram and even LinkedIn.

I have a love-hate relationship with social media, so to have this conversation with me, I've invited Jarrah Brailey, who is a social media marketing diehard and founder of Jampacked, a full service digital marketing agency.

  • I have frequently said that I’m no fan of the 50-page strategy doc with pretty charts and graphs that sits in a draw.

Strategy can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. Strategy can actually be elegantly simple.

A few years ago, I came across a strategist on Instagram who I now quote all the time. In fact, my go-to definition for strategy is “an informed opinion about how to win”. He is Mark Pollard, and he joins me on the show today.

Mark is a strategic trainer and author of “Strategy is Your Words”.

We're going to break down one of my new favourite strategy frameworks, the Four Points, which was created by Mark, and talk about where people tend to get stuck. We're also talk about strategy versus creativity, and what it means to be a creative strategist.

  • Coach is another word that the gurus have tainted with their shady tactics and self-serving messaging.

They are selling hot garbage and diluting the value of genuine, qualified coaches who are invested in empowering people to make meaningful changes.

If you want to work with a coach, there are key signs you should look out for to ensure you aren't just setting your money on fire. That's exactly why I've invited Penny Locaso, a transformational coach and therapist, to the show today.

Penny is the founder of HackingHappy.co and a recent graduate of Campaign Classroom.

In this episode, we talk about the coaching industry, where it's going wrong, and Penny's checklist for choosing a coach that is right for you. We're also talking about how Penny uses customer avatars to build deep and meaningful connections with her clients, and of course, we talk about the gurus.
