Fellas,
Today’s episode is my last in a series with Dr. Robert Glover who will be bringing his expertise to FRD Live in Austin, December 4-6th.
This episode dives deep into why Brotherhood is more crucial than ever.
We explore:
Why Men Are Struggling: The hidden fears that keep men from forming deep bonds, and how modern society makes it easy to retreat into isolation. The Healing Power of Brotherhood: How being around other men—men who hold you accountable, support you, and just be with you—can transform your life. Overcoming Discomfort: The necessity of stepping out of your comfort zone to build genuine connections and how masculine initiation plays a role in this. Practical Steps to Connection: Ways to become the spark in your circle, create meaningful friendships, and build a lasting brotherhood. Why This Matters:
More About Front Row Dads

FRD is solving a huge problem for dads. Our culture has turned “Dad” into a joke. Go ahead, google Dad and you’ll find Dad Bod, Dad Jokes, Dad Weed, etc. Culturally, it’s a Homer Simpson mentality, and it’s BS.
Our community is built for solid men. Men with range. Those who are badass, and know there’s still more to learn, together.
Most guys find it hard to find “their crew.” Finding other committed men, who are successful in life, and want to put family first – these guys are rare. Is this you?
In FRD, hundreds of men from all over the world show up for each other, to share resources and raise the bar of fatherhood (our core values.)
If you’re reading this, you want to grow. Podcasts are great, but guys… when you’re ready to stop just listening to content, and want to JOIN the conversations – the FRD brotherhood is ready for you.

Hey fellas,
I wanna thank you for listening to this interview today. It's a very special one, a conversation I had that originally aired back in 2021 with my amazing friend John Ruhlin. Many of you in this community, and many in the entrepreneurial and business world, will know that name, and you likely know that we lost John a month ago suddenly. I've been sitting here at my desk, staring at this microphone, thinking about how I might truly honor this man, what I could say about him, the impact he's had on my life and the lives of so many, how great of a father and husband he was. And honestly, I could be talking for hours.
I'll tell you that I knew this man for decades. I was a groomsman in his wedding. He was one of my best friends. A couple of weeks ago, I went back and I was looking at my text messages and emails with him, and every single exchange was him lifting me up, encouraging me, introducing me to somebody. John was at the very first ever Front Row Dads retreat. He's always been there by my side, in my corner. He's such a giver. That's the thing — John was such a giver. He was an incredibly talented businessman, but he's probably an even better family man, a better human.
When I was at his funeral, I just walked away realizing how much of a better person I want to be because of this man. I want you to listen to his heart in this conversation. We're sharing stories, talking about our failures and our wins, and that’s how it was with John — always the real story. I love his perspective on life. I love his perspective on giving. I'm sharing this interview for a couple of reasons: one, I just want you to know my friend. I want you to hear his message. I think his impact will continue to grow, his legacy will continue to grow.
One thing happened recently that I want to share with you. John’s business partner of 18 years, a wonderful human named Rod, pledged a commitment to the family to remain business partners with John for the next 18 years. So as Giftology continues to grow, Rod will take care of John's wife and children as 50/50 business partners for the next 18 years.
So, friends of John's and people in the entrepreneurial space, we wanted to share John's story with all of you in hopes that, yeah, you know, not only are people going to just use Gift because it's an amazing company, read the book because it's an amazing book, but maybe as a little extra nudge today, in honor of John, go pick up a copy, pick up 100 copies, go visit the website, check it out, because when you engage with the Giftology team, with their services, with the products, you're ultimately supporting John's family. And I wanted to get that message out to all of you.
John's work has had a massive impact. If you went to YouTube and typed in his name, you’d see interview after interview after interview. You’ll love the essence of John, the heart of John. He was a deep man of faith, a good human. I think about my friend Cameron Harold talking about how he kept trying to bribe John to say a curse word, and he just would never do it. He never said anything bad about anybody. He was the type of person who always led with his heart. He gave so much of himself at all times. Story after story at his funeral was about how many lives he touched and how so many people felt that John was such a good friend to them. And that's what it felt like to be in John's company — you were the only one that mattered in the room. He was all in with you, an incredible presence. I think that was his biggest gift to the world: his presence, his energy, and his spirit.
He also taught some really great business principles that you can practice, and you'll know that these are rooted in an extremely high-quality human — John Ruhlin. Again, I don't know what to say, guys. There's so much. But I just want to say thank you for listening today. This has been a very emotional month for me. I left his funeral saying I want to be such a better person. At the same time, over the last several weeks, I found myself being short-tempered with people, maybe angrier than normal. I didn’t even know where that came from, but I've experienced all the emotions on any given day. And I question sometimes if I'm doing enough to love on John and his legacy and to support his family. Sometimes I stumble and don't know what to text or email or say in a recording like this because it never feels like enough.
But I just want to tell you that this man, someone I love, I hope you enjoy this interview, I hope you laugh, as we do and as we did so many times. And if you feel called or moved, his team put together a document, which you can see at giftologygroup.com/rwa, if you wanted to support the family somehow. There are various ways to do that. But also, if you're a business person, one of the greatest ways you can help is by helping your company and learning some business skills that are going to help accelerate your message in the world, which is what John would want. You'll also be helping his family.
So, you can go to giftologygroup.com/rwa, which stands for Referrals Without Asking. That is a program that we want to keep calling attention to right now to honor John and his work, and he wanted this work to be out in the world. So we want to support that. Thank you. I hope you enjoy this conversation. And again, please go give giftologygroup.com and give a look.
Some of my favorite moments of the conversation:
Why gifting alone can’t save a sucky business and adds insult to injury in a struggling marriage. Why the bar is so low in business gift giving - and how to give much more intentional gifts in every area of life. The value of facilitating gift-giving within your family. Childhood wounds that stick with us into adulthood.Get the Full Show Notes

What’s up fellas.
Today you are going to get something a little different, I think you are really going to like it. It's a shorter episode packed the entire way through with insights. It’s part of a live recording that took place last week during a live call – we’re referring to as “A brotherhood experience”
It will give you a real feel for the culture of the community and the type of men who are in it.
Each brotherhood experience is different and in this one I’m joined by the one and only Kasim Aslam.
Father of Sammy And Ronan | Founder of Five 7 & 8 Figure Businesses | Two Successful Exits | Co-Founder: DrivenMastermind.com | Co-Founder: ParetoTalent.com
In this discussion, Kasim shares a powerful lesson learned from another Front Row Dad, and how he was unconsciously raising his children to survive a childhood like his own.
We touch on topics like dealing with anger and temper issues, and I share a story about my son Tiger and how I learned I was treating him as he was and not who he could be.
As usual, we’re bringing you the real stuff – which includes the low points and high points of raising awesome kids, with a very full schedule as passionate businessmen, and men with an entrepreneurial spirit.
A Wide-Ranging Conversation Through…
Are we raising our kids to survive OUR childhood? The amazing ripple effects of fatherhood The ongoing battle of Dads managing their temper A big reason why kids help us be fully present The most powerful words you can say to your kids A little encouragement and belief goes a LONG wayGet the Full Show Notes

In today's interview, I’m joined by Michael Franti, a father, husband, singer/songwriter and owner of Soulshine Bali.
He has been spreading positivity and love through his music for almost 40 years.
I had the incredible opportunity to sit down backstage in Asheville, NC, while he's on tour, stepping directly into his world, and exploring the highs and lows of his very full touring schedule and what it takes to balance fame and family.
In this episode, we explore Michael's relationship with his fathers, and the impact they had on his life – while exploring Michael’s heartfelt stories about raising kids, making music, dealing with anxiety and depression, and so much more.
You'll also hear from his son Cappy, who joined us towards the end of the interview, who shared stories with reverence and honesty about growing up with Michael as his father.
I could feel the love he has for his father, and also respected how he shared some of the pain we all experience as kids when we feel disconnected from our dads.
As Michael believes, “There’s no one you wouldn’t love if you knew their story”.
This episode is filled with true stories, touching moments and deep insights.
I hope you enjoy my conversation with the one and only Michael Franti and make sure to roll down the windows of your car, turn on his playlist (Michael Franti and Spearhead) and sing your heart out.
A Wide-Ranging Conversation Through…
Overcoming depression and finding ease of heart How Michael teaches others to find their voice Letting your kids make their own choices When Michael discovered the true source of his anger Michael’s top 3 songs that cover the range of human emotions A father and son collab on musical breathwork & meditation How Michael and Cappy enjoy their time together Some of Cappy’s fondest memories with his Dad Dealing with emotions from being away works both ways The vision for Soulshine Bali Music & Wellness retreatsGet the Full Show Notes

Gentlemen, I’ve got Greg Scheinman here with me today. Greg is a performance coach, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and author of The Midlife Male, a guide to helping men feel happier, healthier, and lead rewarding lives in their 40s and 50s.
We kicked things off by digging into some common ground: Waking up at 3 a.m. with that old and eerily familiar friend… anxiety. We talked about what works for us to get better sleep and some potential triggers that seem to cause those restless and sleepless nights.
We also talked about approaching midlife by looking for those sweet spots between hustling and grinding to being at peace and enjoying life. We dig into how much therapy and inner work is too much and how relationships and development are like muscles that also need to rest. We also shared a few stories about our hiking adventures, testing and knowing your limits, when to push and when to relax, and mixed in some 29029 Everesting chat and a lot more. Enjoy!
A Wide-Ranging Conversation Through...- Managing the 3am anxiety wake up calls
- Finding the sweet spot between hustling & happiness
- Greg’s routines that have improved his sleep quality
- How all men aren’t wired to show love the same way
- Make the most of the first 17 years with your kids
- How much therapy and inner work is too much?
- It’s okay to be okay. Stop digging for trauma
- Know your limits, especially at the 29029 Everesting
- Going away to recharge and not come re-energized?
- Choices are good, but make a decision and go all-in
- Greg’s 3-year process to creating Midlife Male

Today, I’m joined by Brent Perkins and Eric Farewell, two incredible humans from our community who’ve not only crushed it as entrepreneurs but also made a tremendous impact as parents, husbands, and friends to the Brotherhood.
Brent and Eric walk us through their journey of participating in and leading FRD bands, which has helped them open up about their fears and feelings and transformed their connections with their families and everyone around them.
One of the main areas we focused on was challenging the stereotypical “strong man” image and defining real masculinity for men who are willing to put in the work, be vulnerable, and commit to being better Dads and husbands. Yes, men need to be strong, but true strength is being courageous enough to talk openly when we’re struggling.
A Wide-Ranging Conversation Through…
The impact that FRD bands have had on Eric & Brent Exploring a different definition of masculinity How FRD bands help men become less rigid and hardened Two key ingredients for a thriving band of brothers How being in a band holds men accountable & skip the BS What happens when men share their lives openly in a diverse group Joining a band could be the spark to change your lifeGet the Full Show Notes

Next up in the Member Takeover Series, we've got a couple of legit OGs from the Brotherhood. We've got Justin Donald taking over as the host, and he's joined by Brad Johnson. As you'll hear, these two have been on board with what Front Row Dads is all about from the very beginning.
For anyone who doesn't know, Justin is a wildly successful entrepreneur, author, and host of The Lifestyle Investor podcast. And Brad is certainly no slouch. He's the co-founder of Triad Partners and host of the Do Business. Do Life podcast. We are all very much in alignment with being successful in business without sacrificing our responsibilities as husbands and fathers.
In this episode, Brad digs into his family's core values that were created from the Family Brand. You'll also hear practical tips for entrepreneurs chasing the mythical "work-life balance," why Brad believes in work-life integrations, and the top lessons they've learned to successfully grow a business without sacrificing family, health, or happiness. Enjoy!

In today’s Member Takeover episode, I’m passing the baton to a couple of Jasons and badass members of the Brotherhood. Today’s host is none other than Jason Bronstad and joining him is Jason Wachob. Jason Wachob is the co-founder of mindbodygreen, an organization that revolutionizes health and wellness with holistic approaches that go beyond traditional medicine.
In this conversation between two Jasons, they discuss something that is easy to forget as parents: it’s not the flashy gifts or the fancy cars that win our kids’ hearts. What matters most is our presence—being there for their sporting events, plays, or simply hanging out and playing at home.
As a former basketball player, Jason W. opens up about the impact sports had on him and the valuable life lessons, health benefits, and positive impact sports have on our kids’ personal growth, both on and off the field.
Jason W. also shares some killer insights, medical tests, and screens to help us step up our health game, catch any warning signs early, and take control of our mental and physical health. Enjoy!

In the second episode of our Member Takeover Series this summer, we're keeping the momentum going with two more powerhouse members of the Brotherhood, featuring Mike Wagner and hosted by Alex Pardo.
Mike doesn't hold back about his struggles with being genuinely present for his family and how he used work to escape the daily pressures of fatherhood.
A big part of Mike's recovery is his embodiment practice of "feeling whatever is" and being honest about his emotional struggles in front of his kids. He shares why this practice is not just for him but serves as a live demonstration to his children on managing emotions in healthy ways.
You'll also hear why Mike recommends testing a concept he adapted from Tucker Max, the Minimum Viable Separation. By spending some time away from our family when we’re feeling disconnected from our loved ones it allows us to reconnect, resolve conflict and show up in healthier and happier ways.
A Wide-Ranging Conversation Through…
The metric for quality time = presence Daily practices to get to a flow state Resources for practicing meditation & presence Leading by example with screen time and technology Improving relationships and anger issues starts within Managing conflict by pausing, then communicating Reconnecting with your family values Mike’s daily routines to be at his best Testing the Minimum Viable Separation ConceptGet the Full Show Notes
