During its time it was under-appreciated, as the satirical undertones or overtones went above everybody's heads.
At face value this was a simple science fiction film about fighting alien bugs. Instead, it was about the horrors of war and government lies.
Just a warning, we get into some political topics but we also discuss some of our ideas on the history of war in the USA.

Kung Fu Hustle, directed by and starring Stephen Chow, its an equal mix of comedy and Chinese martial arts. This film is considered one of the best in its genre and also one of the best films to come out of Chinese cinema.
Despite paying homage to many western films, it is still able to stand on its own, and within us it's one of our favorite wuxia films to watch.

In this film he plays "Dillon" alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger as "Dutch". Despite this looking like your ordinary action flick, Weathers' inclusion elevates it above all other action flicks.

In this episode we watch one of the most critically acclaimed films in history. It is a favorite among many, we watch "The Master of Disguise", directed by Perry Andelin Blake and starring Dana Carvey in his physical prime.
We consider this a classic from the early 2000's. An original story, we see the main hero, Pistachio Disguise take hold of his destiny to become a hero. The movie is filled with many incredible disguises throughout and it's also has a multitude of Oscar worthy performances by Carvey.

In this episode we watch "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby", starring both Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly, one of the best comedic duos of our generation.
The movie somehow satirized the racing culture and became one of the best racing films in the genre. Its a hilarious mix of that classic dumb comedy with high octane action and a dash of highly offensive jokes only seen in the early 2000s.

After a brief hiatus we are back! Inspired by our trip to Japan and the Halloween festivities, we decided to watch "Cure", written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa.
An eerie cat and mouse film that slowly develops into something unexpected and possibly supernatural. Filmed in 1997 and set in a muted version of Chiba, Japan, we are slowly exposed and possibly mesmerized by a strange force that pulls at our most hidden and violent desires.

Here we discuss the realities that the film presented about what true and everlasting love really means. The film takes place almost a decade after the events that occurred in "Before Sunrise", the main characters and the actors are now 9 years older than the previous film. The first film asked if you would come back after meeting the love of our life, but this one asks...would you stay?
Here we continue discussing the implications of reuniting with a lost love, despite having seemingly moved on and grown into a new life. We share our own experiences that relate to the raw subject and discuss many "what if" scenarios.
