Love, life, and lots of pie! In this episode of Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes are talking about Waitress (2007), the indie darling starring Keri Russell as a small-town waitress with a talent for baking and a life that’s anything but sweet.
Full of charm, great performances, and pie, Waitress has built a loyal following over the years—even inspiring a hit Broadway musical! But does it still hold up? Mike Field and Mike Butler dive into the film’s performances, the relationship between Russell's character and Nathan Fillion's, and more. Butler will also get into the tragic story of writer/director Adrienne Shelly.
So, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.

Before Sarah Michelle Gellar took on vamps in Sunnydale, there was "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1992)! This campy cult classic gave us Kristy Swanson as the original Buffy, Donald Sutherland as her mysterious (not Giles) mentor, and Paul Reubens stealing scenes as a delightfully over-the-top vampire. But does it hold up?
In this episode of Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes take a bite out of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and break down what works, what doesn’t, and how it compares to the beloved TV series. Is it an underrated gem or just a fun relic of the early ‘90s?
So, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.

The Mikes are uncorking a discussion on Bottle Shock (2008), the underrated film starring Chris Pine, Alan Rickman, and Bill Pullman that tells the true story of the 1976 Judgement of Paris—where a California winery shocked the world by beating the French at their own game.
Listen in as Mike Butler and Mike Field break down the film’s performances, it's fine line between watchability and snobbery, and whether this under-the-radar movie deserves a spot among the greats. Is Bottle Shock a vintage classic or just a forgettable pour?

The Mikes are kicking off season 20 with Brad Pitt...in space!
Listen in as Mike Butler and Mike Field discuss the 2019 science fiction "Apocalypse Now" inspired "Ad Astra" also starring Tommy Lee Jones, written and directed by James Gray.
Butler finds the movie slowly, emotionless, with unexplained story beats, dumb character decisions, and one of the worst voiceovers of all time. Field agrees, but thinks Butler is wrong anyway; because it wouldn't be Forgotten Cinema if he didn't.

The time has finally come. It's Butler's dream come true. The Mikes are covering a Star Trek film...but it's "Star Trek: Section 31".
Listen in as Mike Butler and Mike Field discuss what is possibly the worst film they've covered on this show. Worse than "Folks!" you might ask? You'll have to listen in to find out.
The Mike will talk about everything that is wrong in this film, the sorry state of Star Trek right now, what is on the horizon for one of Sci-Fi's longest continuing franchises, and maybe find one or two kind words for this giant miss of a film that fails Michelle Yeoh and her character of Philippa Georgiou.

The Mikes are riding along with an overweight and kind of stupid Sylvester Stallone as they work to stop Harvey Keitel from killing Michael Rapaport and turn him in to Robert DeNiro and his terrible mustache.
That's right! It's 1997's "Cop Land", directed by James Mangold and starring just about every famous actor who usually plays NYC cops on film. Join Mike Field and Mike Butler as they discuss how this film may have suffered from its overstuffed cast, pressure from the studio, and Stallone and Ray Liotta not getting the roles they originally wanted.
