  • Jeremy Pryor is joined by Chris Cirullo, father of 5 boys, to talk about raising boys well. They react to a couple of topical and recent videos about how school feminizes boys, and whether to judge masculinity by the amount of "surplus value" you create in the world, then provide commentary and personal anecdotes on raising boys from their own lives.

Chris Cirullo is a former Army ranger, now coach and consultant who focuses on both individuals and organizations of impact. This includes health, fitness, and lifestyle optimization coaching with Christian fathers, as well as sales consulting for impact-driven Christian organizations that want to facilitate positive change in the world. Chris has been married for 12 years and he’s the father of 5 boys.

  • We're excited to continue our motherhood series! Today Jeremy is joined by Michelle Akrami, Justine Cirullo, and Jess Gonyea. They react to a recent interview with Erica Komisar, where she laid out very counter-cultural but traditionally and logically obvious truths about motherhood, shame, attachment, and the cost of feminism.

This episode will encourage you to seek the ideal when it comes to motherhood, but to turn to the Gospel to heal the guilt or shame that can sometimes result from knowing you'll miss the ideal - a feeling that we should all be familiar with as Christians.

On this episode, we talk about:

1:25 How motherhood impacts all the different aspects of life

3:55 Erica Komisar on the optimal way to raise a child

6:39 Why can't we talk about "the ideal" anymore?

14:03 Erica Komisar on guilt and shame

18:34 Why is comfort suddenly the aim of our life?

25:26 Erica Komisar on a mother's instinct for empathy

29:42 Disordered attachment and a resistance to dying to self

Jeremy is joined by Phil Goodwin and Chris Cirullo to discuss Abrahamic Hospitality. Of the three Abrahamic religions, only one is commanded (in Hebrews) practice hospitality, yet it's the only one that seems to completely neglect it. That is, of course, Christianity. Why is this? How can we start to obey by hosting and rediscovering what it means to truly create a "table culture" where we bring in others and share Jesus in our homes? That's what this episode hopes to uncover, while giving you practical tips to start in your own family.

On this episode, we talk about:

0:35 Abrahamic Hospitality and becoming Master of the Feast

5:01 Phil and Chris share their history and heart for hosting and hospitality

11:17 Why does Christianity seem to be the only one of the 3 Abrahamic faiths that neglects hospitality?

19:45 How to begin showing hospitality if you're new to this but interested in getting started

25:07 Introducing teaching as part of hospitality

31:41 How reading a few verses and asking a few questions can create incredibly special moments

36:04 Take the table culture of your family seriously

Jeremy and April lay out a case study on what a family could look like after just 5 generations of faithfully obeying the Genesis 1:28 blessing. American society is so divorced from this ideal that it's often hard to even understand what we're talking about when we talk about building multigenerational family teams...that's why we're breaking down a very practical vision for you, not only in terms of where you're going over the next few generations as a family, but how to start making decisions today that'll help you get there.

On this episode, we talk about:

1:41 The 5 Generations of Ruling Households (part of Jeremy's new book)

    4:35 The First Generation: Fruitful

    4:59 The Second Generation: Multiply

    7:34 The Third Generation: Fill

    10:01 The Fourth Generation: Subdue

    12:18 The Fifth Generation: Rule

16:14 Practical realities of living with this mindset in parenting

21:50 An alternative to the American assumption that helping your kids will turn them entitled and lazy
