Prepare yourself sports fans! We have another "Fud's of Future Past" special. All of our partners used to be part of our film club! And they have some ideas for what we should talk about on the podcast...
Paul's partner loves a sports film... but doesn't watch a lot of actual sport. The Fuds have been challenged to pick a sport film they rate featuring a sport they would never watch. Paul may not be a fan of the Rugby but can most definitely appreciate how winning the world cup helped Nelson Mandela defeat apartheid in his pick... Invictus.
As always prepare for some hot takes, deep film analysis, someone losing the plot, a bit of banter, a few good taglines, an existential crisis question, a wee quiz and our final scores.

Do you ever get nostalgic for simpler times? Do you yearn for the days where you still had to go into town and buy your films from a shop? Is there a film where the DVD bonus feature was so good that you remember it to this day? That's the question Paul is asking! Pick a film with your favourite DVD Bonus Content...
Let's dial this podcast up to 11 as Jack takes us back into mockumentary territory...This Is Spinal Tap! Get ready for some slight confusion as Jack actually watched the film a little differently to Paul and Des. His DVD bonus content pick is the live commentary from the actors in character as the band.

When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth... Hell must have frozen over because Des has picked a horror film...turns out Des, who hates horror, LOVES zombie films. Make this man make sense! Anyway, we're watching the remake of THE zombie film. Dawn Of The Dead

Are you a "Mexi-can" or a "Mexi-can't"... Paul tries his best to defend Once Upon a Time in Mexico from a pair of "Mexi-c***s" who are coming in with a guitar case full of guns blazing. Jack and Des do aim some very fair criticism at the action flick... but the film was chosen for to the deep life lesson and personal philosophy Paul gleaned from the Robert Rodriguez "Ten Minute Cooking School"

Jack loves a horror film. Des hates a horror film. Paul doesn't really care about horror films. As a compromise to get a bit of a horror fix Jack has challenged his fellow FUDs with picking a scary non-horror!
Des has picked our most left field choice which doesn't seem to have the immediate hallmarks of anything particularly scary... but this really gives us insight into what truly terrifies Des in life... all expressed in the film he calls a mirror to his relationship. One Day.

Paul has picked a proto-pixar forerunner which even after the dodgy distribution and Disney drama still manages to spark so much online discourse due to the darkly disturbing tone the narrative has along with THE nightmare fuel scene... and this is a kids movie! It's The Brave Little Toaster!

We're off to see the wizard... wait... no we're not. The yellow brick road has been left to ruin, the land of Oz looks like the wastelands of Mad Max and Dorothy is very likely a schizophrenic child suffering major delusions. We're not in Kansas anymore as Jack has chosen "Return to Oz" for us to watch!

Oh hello there... I know usually you just read this in a passive voice and the fact that the blurb has become somewhat self aware is perhaps freaking you out... but fear not my intrepid FUD... we are simply breaking the 4th wall with our theme choice from Des.
With Johnny Gossamer... there's always two cases that seem unrelated, then they come crashing together. Paul's film choice Kiss Kiss Bang Bang brings up several mysteries that may or may not be connected... Will Des ever not bring up age gaps? Will Jack ever not nitpick over logic and rules... and will Paul ever not argue over the stupidest critiques... The answer is no, and that's why you listen!

If there was an all time top 5 films that feature top 5 lists, our next pick from Jack would have to be somewhere in that conversation. High Fidelity takes us on an exploration of Rob's messy relationship situation and we decide to delve into our own relationship history and everything in between. Sub Question... Is this the most tangents in a single episode!? Yes... the answer is yes...

Now look, we all know that breaking the 4th wall is a bit of a fun and frivilous gimmick, but it can be used to great effect in serious and downright rage inducing films which are based on true stories, such as our first choice, also from Des... The Big Short! By the way... did you know Jack hates capitalism?

We're wrapping up the final film from our second "Fud's of Future Past" special. All of our partners used to be part of our film club! And they have some ideas for what we should talk about on the podcast...
Jack's partner has decided to lead us down a dark cinematic path with a rare movie phenomenon... a film where the bad guy wins! Des has chosen Spike Lee Joint... Inside Man and the debate rages as to who the bad guy is, if they won and if it's actually ok to steal nazi gold. Jack even questions if it fits the criteria of the theme!

Time to wrap up another theme! Des has decided to take us out of our comfort zone, and as three white men with a podcast he's challenged us to think about films which have the best examples of female empowerment.
Paul has chosen Hidden Figures, because what's more empowering for women than sending a bunch of men into space who may never return... doing it in America, during the space race, while being a black woman!
