I've been battling addiction since I was 18—what started as weed and pain pills turned into a full-blown opioid addiction. I made choices I’m not proud of, including stealing from someone who trusted me. Even pregnancy couldn’t stop the cycle. I gave birth at 21 and tried to get clean with methadone. At 23, I quit cold turkey. At 25, I had my son—then meth took over. But on March 28, 2024, everything changed. My daughter and I were in a devastating car accident that nearly took her life. That moment broke me—and woke me up. I knew I couldn’t live this life anymore. Now, I’m choosing recovery. Every single day.
💪 Sharing my story to inspire others who feel stuck in addiction. 👩👧 Mom on a mission to break the cycle.

I’m Jake Martz, and I never set out to get sober. I just knew I needed a change. My addiction started when I was 13, stealing cigarettes so kids wouldn’t pick on me. By adulthood, I was deep into meth, chasing any high I could find. I wrecked marriages, burned bridges, and spent years stuck in a cycle I didn’t even recognize as addiction. I wasn’t looking for recovery when I got a job working with at-risk youth. I was just trying to survive. But those kids saved me as much as I tried to help them. Without even realizing it, I started building skills that were healing my own life. Faith showed up years later, and that’s when everything clicked. Recovery isn’t just about staying clean it’s about finding purpose, living with boundaries, connecting with people who actually care, and giving back. Now I’m the Director of Prevention Services at Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition, and I get to show others the same grace I was given.

From Lost Time to a Life Reclaimed: My Sobriety Story I started drinking in the early '90s, thinking it would help me feel more confident. But over time, alcohol took much more than it gave. I lost close friends, strained family relationships, and struggled to hold a full-time job. Mornings were filled with regret, exhaustion, and missed opportunities. But that’s not where my story ends. Through hard work, reflection, and healing, I’ve made amends with my family and friends. I’ve rebuilt those broken bridges. Today, I’m proud to say I am dependable, trustworthy, and living a life rooted in clarity and connection.
🌅 If you’re struggling, know that change is possible. ❤️ Recovery gave me more than sobriety—it gave me myself back. 💬 If you're on your own recovery journey—or thinking about starting one—drop a comment. You're not alone. Let's lift each other up. #SoberLife #AlcoholRecovery #TrustRebuilt #HealingJourney #RecoveryIsPossible #LifeAfterAddiction #SoberSupport #PersonalGrowth #YouAreNotAlone

💥 From Trauma to Triumph 💥
I was born into a world of chaos — drugs, violence, poverty, and abuse were my early reality. By the age of 6, CPS had taken us in. Two years later, I returned to a still-toxic environment, carrying the heavy burden of trauma, fear, and confusion — including the lasting wounds of sexual abuse. 🚨 By 8, I had already turned to weed and alcohol, searching for relief wherever I could find it — even during fishing trips with my uncle. That "escape" led to years of drug use, alcoholism, DUIs, jail time, homelessness, near-death experiences, and endless nights of pain and despair.
🙏 But that’s not where my story ends. On September 1st, 2012, I made a decision that changed everything. I got clean and sober — and I've never looked back. 💪
Today, I'm a proud, full-time single father to an amazing 9-year-old. I’m a homeowner, living a life filled with health, purpose, and real happiness. Every day, I dedicate my time to helping others break the chains of addiction and trauma.

Hi, I'm Corey Bellis. For 10 years, I battled drug addiction. It started with a pain pill in high school and quickly spiraled into heroin use after graduation. I couldn’t stop on my own—only arrests, detox, or rehab could slow me down. I remember one night, in the middle of my addiction, I cried out to God: “God, help me.” The next day, I was arrested. That moment changed everything. Although I relapsed nearly a year later, it only lasted a few weeks before I was ready to fight for my sobriety again—with more focus, more purpose, and God’s strength.
Today, I’m celebrating 6 years clean and sober as of April 19, 2025. In those 6 years, I’ve earned a college degree, bought a home, and started a beautiful family. We’re proud members of Hickory Grove Church of the Brethren, and I give all the glory to God—He truly saved my life. If you’re struggling with addiction or know someone who is, please know this: there is hope, and recovery is possible. Don’t give up.

I was raised in a loving, stable home with hardworking, faith-filled parents. I was a cheerleader, a good student, and active in church. Addiction wasn’t supposed to be part of my story. But at 16, I entered an abusive relationship that broke me down emotionally and physically. After it ended, I turned to drugs to cope. What started as a way to numb the pain became a 10-year battle with addiction. In 2015, I began my recovery journey. Through faith in Jesus, I found healing. Today, I’m a wife, a mom, and a Peer Recovery Coach. My husband and I started a recovery meeting in Marion to help others find the same hope we’ve found.
💬 If you're struggling, you’re not alone. Recovery is possible.

I started using drugs at just 9 years old. Growing up around addiction, it felt normal—like the only way to fit in with my family. What I thought would bring me closer to them ended up stealing everything from me. By middle school, I was deep in it. I lost my passion for things I loved, like art and school. I even lost a scholarship because of it. Addiction took my jobs, my marriage, my freedom, and the hardest part—time away from my kids. I used to think I’d never escape it. But recovery is possible. No matter how far gone you feel, there’s always a way back. If any of this sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone. It starts with one decision—and it can change everything.

My struggle with substance abuse began early—by age 10, I was selling and using weed, and by 17, I was addicted to heroin. Childhood trauma shaped my path: I lost my grandmother at 9, my mom went to prison at 14, and I lost my dad at 19—just after serving my first six-month jail sentence. Addiction cost me everything—my freedom, my family, even my kids. I spent years in and out of jail, watching loved ones suffer, including my girlfriend who caught charges because of my actions. I used drugs to numb the pain, hoping things would change—but they never did until I did.
Recovery is real. It starts with a choice and the courage to take the first step. If you're battling addiction, you're not alone. Sobriety is hard—but it’s worth it.

Turning to alcohol as a crutch, it wasn't until suicidal ideation took hold that he sought change. Rather than traditional addiction treatments, Garret's path was shaped by mentoring that emphasized self-worth, rediscovering identity, and tapping into inherent strengths. This approach not only alleviated his addictive behaviors but also reignited his passion for life.
