  • This episode about moving back home came with a complimentary set of water works!  That's right, we could not hold back the tears when discussing Kat's recent move back to the UK.  So many things have changed since we started our little podcast sharing our experiences as Black British Millennial Women living in France.  However the biggest change of them all is one that many expat immigrants experience at one point or other in their lives and that is, deciding when is it time to move back home. We talk about Kat's experiences and also some general experiences that many expat immigrants face - including knowing what's right for you and your personal situation.

This is not by any means the end of Expat Immigrant Podcast, however we will be pausing for a bit during the summer (comme d'habitude) to plan our next season where uploads will be less regular but just as fun and full of entertainment from your favourite Expat Immigrant sisters!

  • In celebration of National Siblings Day we have decided to record a special episode where we attempt to answer some questions about each other!  This one was super fun as it got us thinking about long forgotten tales and experiences. Our most embarrassing memory for example...!! Arrgh the cringe!! We also cast our minds back to what we wanted to be as children as well as more recent assertions such as our favourite ice cream flavour.  How well do you think we know each other?  You'll have to listen to find out!

  • Hi everyone! This week we are once again diving into dilemmas and requests for advice from our Francophone cousins! We answer the question of how to overcome loneliness - a common experience that also effects many Expat Immigrants!  We give our aunty advice to a teenager who thinks that they are missing out on life because of always being on their phone.  And lastly we help a confused lover girl who found a saucy picture on her boyfriend's phone that was never sent to her!!  What would you do?!

As always, feel free to use this episode as an opportunity to brush up on your GCSE French and join the conversation!

  • Hi everyone! We're back this week, discussing some ideas on how to work abroad. It feels like this topic has been coming up a lot in the public domain recently, where many people are entertaining the idea of possibly moving abroad for various reasons. Usually the first thing that comes up in this conversation is, 'What will I do for work?' or even 'How can I find work?'. So we've come up with some practical things you can think about before taking your first steps to living and working abroad!

Don't forget that this should not be taken as legal advice, immigration advice, financial advice or tax advice! This conversation is just to give you some inspiration to get your juices flowing!  Make sure you do your research and talk to specialists when you can.

Let us know what your experience is with working abroad! Have you done it before? What did you learn?

  • Hi everyone! Here's another Valentines Special from us and this time we have set our heart shaped eyes on the popular genre of Teen Romance Movies! We recently watched the Netflix movie, 'He's All That', an updated gender swapped version of the popular teen film, 'She's All That' and it got us thinking.  Firstly we discussed our gripes with the often seen trope where a protagonist removes their glasses and suddenly becomes beautiful - in the case of 'He's All That' he removes his hat et voila! A handsome man!  Then we got to thinking about what actually goes into making an entertaining and at least watchable teen movie. So we decided to come up with our own! How hard could it be?  Listen to the episode and let us know what you think about our teen romantic movie! Would you watch it? Who would you cast in the leading and supporting roles?  What would you include or take out?

  • Coucou les amies! Today we are answering French Dilemmas! "Suis-Je Le Trou De Balle" or STB for short is basically the French version of AITA! We've been answering AITA posts since the beginning of this podcast so it only feels right that we turn our gaze to our Francophone friends to help them out with their troubles. It's also a great way for us as Expat Immigrants to practice the French language in terms of reading, comprehension and of course speaking! So as always, get ready to brush off your GCSE / A Level French and join us as we take on some dilemmas found on Reddit! Don't forget that if you're Francophone and you'd like to help us with our French whilst we help you with your dilemma, relationship problem or anything else that's on your mind, simply write to us at: [email protected]

We are back again with another New Year, New Moi episode and this time we are setting our intentions for the year 2024! • We all know the 12 Days of Christmas song. Some of us even know the Destiny's Child version off by heart! But what if the "true love" referred to in the song was France? What gifts would we receive then?  Well, Kat and I have had a think about some of the things we've received from France including elite holiday destinations, patisserie and apero! There's so many more that didn't make the list so maybe we'll have to do a part deux but until then, enjoy our take on this festive song!

  • In this episode we got to thinking about some of the things we miss from the UK. As Expat Immigrants it's often we look at our home country and reminisce about the things we can't quite get in France. Whether it's a sausage roll, a cosy pub, or even meeting random girls in the toilets on a night out, there are some quintessentially British things that haven't made it across the channel.  Have a listen to our list and let us know what you think! Also tell us about some of the things that you miss from your home country. We'd love to know!

  • Hey everyone! In this episode we are testing our knowledge on random French subjects in a game we like to call, "No Concentration".  This is a game we grew up with as kids (ehem, before the internet), and recently we thought, why not create a French version?! It's all a bit of fun and you can play along with us, shout your answers (we won't be able to hear you) and get involved!  How well do you know random French subjects, from cars to historical figures, famous French people to names of French cheese? • So what would you do if your Maid of Honour stole from your fiancé? Would you forgive her and let her participate in your wedding like nothing happened? • Join us as we take you on a trip to Lyon to discover the city and its famous gastronomy. We jumped in the car with BoyBoy and set off to find a place for lunch - a traditional lyonnaise restaurant in the old town.  It was such a beautiful day with great food and great conversation as we were joined by our new friend Steicy!  We wanted to know what it is like to live in Lyon so we let the conversation flow and talked about all sorts, from things you can do in and around the city, and making friends in Lyon to being Black in France and what racism looks like.  We also compared Black British culture and Black French culture from our different perspectives as well as showing some love to one of our fave British exports, Daniel Kaluuya!

It's Lady Kat and Lady Nat and we are back again to share our thoughts on 'Queen Charlotte', the latest offering from Netflix's Bridgerton series!  We've decided to approach this spoiler recap a bit differently to our others, by looking primarily at the main characters and discussing their stand out moments.  Needless to say, we absolutely loved 'Queen Charlotte' and its wonderful portrayal of women.  Newcomers to the Bridgerton world, India Amarteifio, Arsena Thomas and Corey Mylchreest were outstanding!  We highly recommend this series and if you haven't yet watched, what are you waiting for??! Please go and watch it now, and then come back and listen to our breakdown! Teehee!

  • Have you ever wondered how to buy wine in France? Well wonder no more! We are so excited to bring you this BUMPER of an episode filled to the brim with useful information and tips! We are joined by an extra special guest, the Sommelier and Caviste, Grégoire Brocas of La Cave Guyot who guides us through some wine tasting!  This is definitely an episode for beginners as we ask Greg to really break it down for us.  He shares his passion for wine with us and teaches us about developing our palate, appellation, grapes and wine vintage.  We also get into the etiquette of sending wine back, how to properly open a bottle of wine and of course, Greg gives us advice on how to buy wine in France! But that's not all! We put some common scenarios to Greg asking him to recommend what type of wine to buy for each! Meeting a partner's parents for the first time? A colleague retiring from work? Greg has you covered! Feel free to crack open your preferred bottle of vin and join us as we get into some wine tasting!
Whether you spit or swallow - remember to drink responsibly!!
This episode focuses more on white wine. The first wine we tasted was an organic (bio) wine called Sous La Tonnelle Anjou - Domain de la Bergerie. The second wine was a 2021 Gouffier Les Malpertuis - Bourgogne Remember you can write to us at [email protected]
