Avec is a architect led design-build firm located in downtown Ames, IA. Avec believes that there is a way to do architecture that brings together designers and contractors collaborating with the client to deliver a built project, a process that energizes and empowers the design team, the construction team, and ultimately the owner. Avec is French for “with”, meaning that we want to work alongside every entity involved in a project, as a team, with each other, working for the same end goal.
Explore the multifaceted nature of the building process through the eyes of architects, designers, and contractors. Interviews and discussions with tradespeople in the industry make up the bulk of this content with an emphasis on providing a service to all who are interested in how buildings come together both on the residential and commercial level. I’m Sean Low, and I’ve been lending practical business advice to those in the business of being creative since the early 2000s, including accomplished notables such as Preston Bailey, Vicente Wolf, Nate Berkus, Sawyer Berson, Style Me Pretty, Marcy Blum, Michelle Rago, and Sylvia Weinstock--to name a few.
The key to my own success has been my ability to help artists build their businesses in a way that most honors the art that is behind them. I’ll give you straight up, no holds barred advice on handling what happens from deal to done. The journey with your client begins when they first connect with you, whether digitally or in real life. And from that moment until the project is finished, you have the power to manifest an experience and journey with them that’s transformative for all.
Everyone should be creative. Whatever your art is, it should invigorate you and bring you joy. And if it happens to be your business, it should bring you the money you need to KEEP being creative. Hopefully, I will challenge you each week to do just that.
So, let’s not just think outside the box… Let’s erase it! -

Welcome to my Podcast, where I interview founders and creatives, bridging the worlds of business and art.
My show explores the intersection of entrepreneurship and creativity and aims to be a beacon of hope for artists and solopreneurs navigating challenging moments in their careers.
The Solopreneur and Arts worlds are connected - but all too often, there is a lack of meaningful exchange between the sectors.
By learning from those who have thrived at these crossroads, I hope to pass on stories which give us renewed strength for our paths.
With a special interest in the opportunities of the digital economy and the creator world, this podcast deep dives into the challenge of building a life for oneself.
This is me, your host Jim, signing off - by saying:

If you've ever wondered what those little round Great Taste badges are that appear on all kinds of food and drink products, this is the podcast for you!
Most people don't realise the badges can't be bought, they don't belong to any supermarket chain, and they're not a cynical attempt to make you buy a product off the shelf. They are in fact awarded to exceptional products but only after they've been independently blind tasted by expert judges.
We take you behind the scenes of this rigorous judging process to discover the meaning behind those black and gold labels. We'll also talk to food producers about what Great Taste means to them, how it has impacted their businesses, and whether it's affected the food they make.
We reveal some of the challenges and best practices when it comes to making and selling food, and importantly why some food and drink costs more than the mass produced alternatives.
Our journey culminates in the Golden Fork Awards held annually to recognise the producers who have created 3-star products. Along the way we'll hear from some of the hopefuls and the ultimate winners.
This podcast is about the importance of good quality food, not just for us as consumers but for our economy, our health and our land, not to mention our taste buds.
