  • Hi, welcome back to EQ vs IQ with Orla and me Martin. This show starts off differently to normal, as I am only joined by Loman because Orla took a mini hiatus from the show. The show begins with a couple of my favourite sports stories caused by some pretty stupid rules.

The movie being discussed in this recording is Super 8. Once again, it is a solo effort by me as Loman and Orla (kindly?) decided to give the movie a miss. Despite this, I still recommend that you give this one a watch.

Finally, Orla and Loman try to prove that they can outdo Shazam at its own game, by recognising songs as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, because I'm scared of the big bad boys in suits, and I don't know copyright laws, the songs themselves have been cut. But hopefully you'll still enjoy the show!

  • Hi welcome back to EQ vs IQ with Orla and me, Martin. On this week's episode we are joined by one of our OGs, Cian. The show starts with Orla and I accidentally working together on this week's interesting topic. We make another attempt at discussing the brain as we dissect one of the craziest theories I've ever heard of.

For the movie, Cian has selected Hacksaw Ridge. This week, there's quite the clash of opinion, not just on the movie itself, but about movie genres in general. As always, spoilers lie ahead.

Next, Orla puts Cian and I on the spot, by making us take a friendship test. It was the only quiz I've ever been nervous for on the show, and by the end I was questioning if I even knew myself.

To finish off the show, we expose how the government has been poisoning us since birth, by pretending to care about our dental hygiene. Could this really be an attempt to destroy the special powers which have been passed down to us from the ancient Egyptians? Find out, on this weeks show.

  • Hi welcome back to EQ vs IQ with Orla and me, Martin. On this week's episode we have another psychologist joining the show in Amy. Orla follows up on last week's promise by going through one of the most famous unsolved cases of all time. And yes, it's another serial killer.

Amy, Orla and I then try to tackle this week's movie which is Donny Darko. Join us as we struggle to piece together exactly what happened in this brain-melter of a movie. However, I'm making no guarantees that you'll actually be any wiser as to what went on because clearly, we haven't a clue.

We round the show off by talking simulations. Are we in one? If so what does this mean for alternate universes? And how does Stephen Hawking's love for One Direction fit into it all? Find out in this week's episode.

  • Hi, welcome back to EQ vs IQ with Orla and me, Martin. Our guest for this recording is Loman, a fellow Engineer whose true nerdy passions lie in music. The show starts with me deciding to pay respect to some interesting words in the English language that you can use to spice up everyday conversation. Orla then gives us some *FUN* facts about serial killers.

For the movie, Loman has picked Whiplash. We pay tribute to our favourite scenes, pick apart some the logistics and discuss the extent of the characters' devotion to succeeding as musicians. In the original show, Loman and Orla played a super competitive round of The Music Game (Loman 15 - 14 Orla). However, seeing as we can't play the music that the two are guessing we've had to leave it out.

Finally, we decide to shine a light on the Flat Earther's less popular relatives, the Hollow Earther's. Is there a secret utopia beneath us with gigantic people and plants, or is it where Hitler is hiding to this day? Find out on today's episode.

  • Hi, welcome back to EQ vs IQ with Orla and me, Martin. On this week's recording we welcome our friend Cian aka Cider aka Sean the Pint. We decided to have a slight theme for this show of 'Diseases'. I start us off by talking about the strange phenomenon that is Cordyceps. We follow this up by having the least intelligent conversation of all time about the brain.

Our movie for the week is I Am Legend where we discuss the plot, the unfortunate endings and those pesky mannequins. This section features the greatest betrayal in EQ vs IQ history as Orla and Cider Boi have a serious confession.

We are then treated by a lovely game of Mad Libs courtesy of Goose's intriguing choices. We then finish the show with a Russian conspiracy about the true source of the current pandemic. The episode was originally recorded in early February when the majority of Europe was still completely unaffected. Lockdown was still an inconceivable future and we were still so naïve...

  • Hi welcome back to EQ vs IQ with Orla and me, Martin. This is the earliest recording we have of one of our shows. To start the show Orla tells us about some of the not-so-great ethics in past psychology experiments. I follow this up by simulating a vampire apocalypse using a calculator I found online.

We are then joined by our guest, Aaron as we discuss our movie for the week, Fight Club. Obviously I will be spoiling the entire thing without prior warning, so if you haven't seen it you may want to skip this part. I would recommend watching the movie before it gets ruined by us.

Aaron then goes head-to-head with Orla on a quiz about colours and emotions before competing against me in a general knowledge quiz. Finally we discuss the possible theories about the same man who appears in the dreams of many people but nobody knows who he is.

  • This recording is a slightly different one to the rest that we'll post. Originally we had our friend Shauna on the show, but because of some technical difficulties, somebody (me) managed to take us off air and delete our recording. Thankfully, an extra slot opened up last minute at DCUfm and we got to do an extra show with Shauna.

On this episode, I decided to celebrate 30 years since the fall of the Berlin wall by telling the stories of people successfully crossing the border before its collapse.

Unfortunately, due to the short notice of the recording, we couldn't watch a movie to review. Instead we decided to pay one last tribute to the greatest short movies of all time, VINES. This is followed by each one of us exposing our (2019) Spotify Wrapped.

Finally, Orla reveals some conspiracy theories that have actually been confirmed as true, including a very interesting CIA secret weapon. Hope you enjoy!
