This week we are joined by the wonderful Tom Earl! Tom is co-owner of Groove Garden Studios in Brighton (along with previous guest James Gillingham). Having been kicked out of their previous shared studio they decided to take matters into their own hands and build their own. Still under construction, the studios will provide drum practice rooms of various sizes for hire by the month or hour. Tom filled us in on how things are going there plus we chat about the recent news of Josh Freese’s departure from the Foo Fighters and why pigeons have such bad feet. Enjoy!

Step up to the oche and join us for a leg of chat! We reminisce about our time playing darts at the studio including when Ben disrupted one of George’s drum lessons by hitting his first 180. George also witnessed some WWE style action at a wedding and got a back rub from an Adele tribute act. Enjoy!

After looking at the YouTube comments on George’s band’s promo video we chat about our Easter gigs and Easter eggs. Ben got to play darts backstage and George enjoyed being free from the shackles of backing tracks and in-ear monitors. Another gig got messy and inappropriate, Ben’s announced the studio closure and someone found some really, really old cymbals in Oman. Enjoy!

It’s Thursday so who best to get on the show? It’s only the legend that is Tucker Rule! Not only was Tucker the drummer for New Jersey post-hardcore band Thursday, he is now also the drummer for supergroup L.S. Dunes who head off on a US tour this week. Made up of members of Thursday, My Chemical Romance, Coheed & Cambria and Circa Survive, they formed during the pandemic. Their second album ‘Violet’ was released in January 2025. We chat about prepping for tour, recording the new album, and playing live. We also talk about Thursday and their rise from the basements of New Jersey to major label success. Tucker also took a different direction in his career when he played for British boyband The Wanted touring the world and making many TV appearances. Enjoy!

We start this week's episode with a little help from our future machine overlords; they might destroy us all but before that they can help write lesson plans. We also have some correspondence about trombone solos, drum phonetics and musical gifts. George started rehearsals with a new Lainey Wilson tribute act and Ben gets passionate about dynamics. There’s also time for some London based cajon chat and a memorable performance at Buckingham Palace. Enjoy!

It’s episode 172 in this series of immaculately edited podcasts and there’s plenty to get through. George took a trip to ‘medley town’ in a recent gig as well as an actual trip by having to cycle two hours to his first day at a new teaching job due to his car’s MOT expiring. Ben’s had a lovely new door fitted for the new studio, been busy on the trombone and had to dig deep to make some cups of tea. Enjoy!
