  • Summer Hols…incoming! 😬
I've navigated a fair few school holidays by now - and I've experienced alllll the fizzy ups and the frazzling downs that come with that.
But the one thing I've learnt (and desperately try to remember!) is that getting ahead of the game and making some sort of intentional plan for the Summer (versus diving in blindly and hoping for the best) really DOES make a massive difference to the experience for EVERYONE!
This current pre-holiday window can be CRITICAL when it comes to harnessing a positive mindset (and being acle to ACTUALLY enjoy myself!) over the school holidays...
We COULD spend the next few weeks stressing about the holidays before they've even started…
But I can pretty much guarantee that strategy will a) fill you with dread for the summer and b) start the holidays stuck in a negative and stressed out headspace. And who is that really going to serve?
So I hope this podcast episode offers you a few juicy tips to help you get ahead on the Summer hols curve, regain a sense of positivity and control over your upcoming summer holidays and find a way for the summer holidays to work for EVERYONE in your family, you INCLUDED!

PLUS find out about my AWESOME new Summer coaching offer: SERIOUS ABOUT SEPTEMBER which will help you navigate the Summer stretch feeling fully supported so you can both enjoy the holidays with your kids, AND start September STRONG in your own right!

  • ** TRIGGER WARNING ** This conversation contains discussion around Trauma during and after giving birth, as well as my guest's experience of PTSD. Please prioritise looking after your mental and emotional wellbeing as a priority before listening to this episode.

It was a pleasure to welcome Caroline Marshall to the pod, who is a Mum of 2 boys, the founder of a multi award winning Virtual Assistant Agency Upsource and podcast host of the show ‘Bump to Business owner’.

In this episode Caroline shares how she coped and adapted following a series of unexpected curveballs in her life and career, culminating with the most shocking and unexpected eventuality of all when her second child suddenly became seriously unwell immediately after he was born, requiring a prolonged stay in NICU (the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in the middle of the pandemic.

Thankfully Caroline’s son made a full recovery. But, this Traumatic event and experience as a NICU Mum has understandably had a profound effect on Caroline’s outlook on the world, mental health and how she has subsequently gone on to 'do her thing' in life, business, relationships and motherhood.

During our conversation Caroline bravely shares the details of this life-changing experience, including the steps she took to grieve, process, adapt and heal following her Trauma.

And the space we created also gave me permission to share the details of my own difficult birth experience with my first child, which also involved a stay in NICU, and which I only began processing in the last couple years.

This is a vulnerable and powerful conversation which I’m so grateful to Caroline for having with me. And I hope her words offer hope and strength to anyone navigating the aftermath of their own traumatic experience right now, and help listeners feel better resourced to support loved ones who may be struggling.

  • "Anger is the guardian of sadness and other emotions"

These words played a pivotal role in how I understand and deal with my own big feelings that show up as rage in my life.

And in this episode I wanted to share some more background to this transformational concept, in the hope that it supports you to work through your own big emotions that may rear their heads (and make a whole big mess!) while on your Motherhood journey.

Rage in motherhood is so very real for so many of us - so many of my clients and friends tell me how they really struggle to keep a handle on their angry reactions and outbursts, especially since becoming a Mum.

‘Doing Your Thing’ can also feel so much harder when we are blinded by such overpowering emotions.

So I hope this short podcast episode helps to both normalise the big feelings you may be experiencing in Motherhood, and helps you show yourself some more compassion and feel more supported and resourced in yourself when the red mist swoops on in.

  • During this episode I talk to Jo Permaul all about the role that natural medicine has played in how she's raised her kids and lived her life.

Jo has 2 grown up kids (aged 18 and 21), she is the Director of coaching school 'Wellness Professionals At Work' PLUS she is also a trained Homeopath, Life Coach and a qualified teacher.

During this conversation Jo shares how her own childhood health struggles (which came with an inability to find an adequate remedy via conventional medicine) introduced her to the world of homeopathy, which later down the line also motivated her to raise her family using natural health and wellness remedies and techniques.

What I found especially refreshing was that Jo is not ANTI conventional medicine at all –  but rather she is PRO choice, and has learnt how to intuitively integrate conventional medicine into her own natural approach.

This episode is a beautiful lesson in trusting your gut instincts, championing open communication with your kids about how they are feeling and cultivating a sense of  empowerment when it comes to taking responsibity for our own health and wellbeing.

It inspired me to seek out support from a homeopath - and I hope it offers you you some valuable food for thought too.

  • Here's another wonderful episode from my Insta live archives, where I spoke to Lindsay Dalton about how she does her thing by being deeply tuned into her menstrual cycle.

Lindsay is a holistic menstrual cycle & feminine embodiment coach and a doula, who has supported women for over 10 years to reclaim their power over their feminine energy. And in this episode we discuss how Lindsay uses her menstrual cycle understanding to guide her energetically and intuitively through life, business and parenthood.

As women, our menstrual cycle can often feel like anything but magic. Having periods can feel disruptive, inconvenient and often down right unpleasant to live with.

But in this conversation, Lindsay shares how connecting to the wisdom of her cycle has supported her to feel empowered by this part of being a woman, and how her knowledge has not only helped her to regain control over her experience of life but also support other women who are struggling to do the same.

And I hope this conversation will offer a fresh perspective to you too!

  • Have you found it harder to tune into YOUR right decisions since becoming a parent?

I definitely experienced a huge amount of tiring indecision when I became a Mum, and at times found it almost impossible at times to reconcile certain choices for myself and my life - in case I made the wrong one!

And this is something that my podcast guest this week, Sarah Billingham, found really challenging to navigate when she became a parent, which she talks about in detail in this highly relatable episode.

Sarah is a Mum of 2, a specialist speech and language therapist, the founder of her business Confident Kids and the host of her own brilliant podcast called Raising Confident Kids with SEN - and through her work Sarah equips parents, carers and practitioners with expert knowledge and tools to support children with Special educational needs.

Despite having always carved out her own path with relative ease pre-kids, Sarah shares the strong internal conflict she experienced after becoming a parent which subsequently invited her to challenge and re-construct the way she made choices for herself, her family and her professional future.

But that process was far from straightforward and through this chat Sarah shares the powerful journey she has been on, learning to navigate the loud internal debating and deliberating inside her head in order to Do Her Thing in life and parenthood with so much more confidence and conviction.

  • Oh heyyyy!! It's been a hot minute since I've been in your ears hasn't it?!

But I'm back (yey!) and diving straight back in with some solo time at the mic to share some of the big thinking I've been doing while on my podcast break!

And in this episode I'm talking about what I feel is one of my biggest passion points in the work I do:

HOW MOTHERHOOD HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE YOUR BIGGEST & MOST BEAUTIFUL OPPORTUNITY YET (if you give yourself the space and permission to see it!!)

It's so easy to get really bogged down in the hard bits of Motherhood (which are undeniably very much there to contend with, no toxic positivity over here!)

BUT I also believe that Motherhood is very much a tale of two very very important halves.

And amidst the tough stuff there are also so many rewarding, fun, fulfilling, joyful opportunities, gifts and possibilities available to us, which can provide a powerful counterbalance to the hard stuff.

So, in this episode I dig into this outlook in more detaIl, and I share:

Why I believe we so easily get bogged down in the tough bits of MotherhoodThe perspective shift that helps me navigate through my hard Mum moments, which I hope will also support you to do the sameA simple but powerful strategy that you can put into practice TODAY to help you connect with the opportunities available to YOU as a Mum

  • My last episode for a month or so (I'm taking a pod break in April) where I share my reflections post being struck down by the lurgy over the last couple of weeks.

I unpack how my choice to clear the decks and come back to MYSELF has reminded me how essential it is to choose OURSELVES as Mums.

NOT just when the sh*t hits the fan or you're teetering on the edge of burnout, but in day to day life on an ongoing basis.

In this episode I explain why abandoning our own wants, needs and wellbeing as Mums is no good for anybody (especially you), however profoundly our guilt might strike or however ingrained our people pleasing habits might be.

And I share 3 mega important reasons why I believe you NEED to start choosing YOURSELF more often, if you want to truly feel the courage and confidence to do your thing in life, parenthood and everything in between.

Do drop me an email to let me know how you get on with this at [email protected] - I'd love to hear your reflections!

And I can't wait to reconnect in May with another wonderful collection of podcast episodes after I take a well-needed (and deserved) moment to pause.

  • During this weeks episode (another gem from my insta live archives) I share a great convo with Nash Gierak, all about how she navigates life and parenthood while honouring her passion for sustainability.

As well as being a Mum to two boys, Nash is also the Director of Bold Green Strategies, a sustainability consultancy that works with brands and businesses to help them confidently meet — and exceed— the sustainability standards in their industries.

When we had this conversation back in April 2023, Nash was on the verge of launching Bold Green Strategies, so it’s really exciting to see how much she has achieved in this space over the last year.

Learning to live sustainably is such a pressing topic on so many of our minds - not to mention the importance of educating our kids about how to protect their planet.

BUT the responsibility around living sustainably while juggling family life can feel complicated, overwhelming and like another plate to spin 🤹🏼‍♀️

Nash however has found brilliant ways to navigate and even SIMPLIFY parenthood through honouring her passion for sustainability and minimalism.

We cover so much in this episode including:

    - How Nash handles the balancing act of managing the expectations of friends, family and peers while also honouring her own integrity around sustainability at home

    - Nash shares some of the simple but impactful choices made within her own family unit, that have helped make sustainable living while raising little people feel much more accessible.

    - And we reflect on the importance of flexibility when it comes to creating a sustainable lifestyle.

  • In this episode I talk to Tommy Ludgate about the essential role that creativity plays in how she does her thing in her life, both in her own right and alongside being a Mum to her 2 boys.

As well as being a highly successful performer herself (having performed with the likes of Paloma Faith, Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller) Tommy also has over a decade’s experience in coaching singers, songwriters and performers to bring their talents to the main stage.

In this chapter of her life Tommy now runs her own business as a Coach for Creatives and she's on a mission to help anyone with a creative soul to overcome the challenges that are holding them back in their professional career and personal wellbeing.

During this episode we reflected on how Tommy’s relationship with creativity has evolved since becoming a Mum

And she shares how she has navigated and overcome the challenges that often make it feel really hard to be creative while also carrying the maternal load.

Tommy shares the ways in which her creative thinking, projects and passions have massively supported her mentally and emotionally against the tiring and  noisy backdrop of raising kids.

And she shares some invaluable tips to help listeners get their creative juices flowing again if they’re feeling a bit stuck.

  • In this episode I share a mindset shift that has had a PROFOUND impact on the way I do MY thing in life...

And that is by treating life as an imperfect experiment.

As women - and Mums in particular - in our desperate attempt to avoid failure, we can get so easily tangled up in 'shoulds' and 'rules' without ACTUALLY questioning whether these steps are the right ones for US as individuals.

I've been there and bought the ill-fitting T-shirt, through both my experiences as a Mum and a business owner - and I can confirm it doesn't feel good to live life according to somone else's rule book.

In this episode I share the mindset shift that has allowed me to hit pause on the rules, and instead lean into a much more liberating, aligned and FUN way of carving out my own path alongside Motherhood.

I offer reassurance and insight around the discomfort you may feeling around treating life as an experiment.

PLUS I share the top 3 reasons why I believe there is SO MUCH to gain from releasing yourself from the rules and embracing a more free-flowing, imperfect and playful outlook to living your life.

  • In this episode of 'Do Your Thing' I talk to Clio Wood all about getting our mojo’s back after kids.

Clio is a Mum of 2 girls, a maternal health and sex positivity advocate, a journalist and published author and she is the Founder of &Breathe - an award-winning wellbeing retreat company.

Clio experienced a traumatic birth with her first daughter and subsequently suffered from postnatal depression, PTSD and pelvic floor issues – all of which led her to become deeply knowledgeable on postnatal and menopause health and sexual wellbeing.

Her experiences have ultimately driven her to champion these areas through her work, speaking and the writing of her first book – which is called Get Your Mojo Back, Sex, Pleasure and Intimacy After Birth (see below for a 10% discount code exclusive for Do Your Thing listeners)

Sex, pleasure and identity in Motherhood are so often put right to the bottom of the to do list as mothers - we are always focusing on other people.

PLUS as women we are suffocated by so many societal and emotional shame barriers that can block our ability to speak out, connect with others or ask for help in these areas.

But, through this conversation Clio shares why our pleasure and sexual wellbeing are in fact an intrinsic part of our overall health and wellbeing as Mums – and how we absolutely do NOT have to resign ourselves to a sex-life less ordinary after kids if we don’t want to.

  • This episode of Do Your Thing is another wonderful conversation from my Instagram live archives where I spoke to Donna Ford about the impact that grief has had on her experience of life and parenthood.

Donna is a Mum of two boys and a London-based Power Portrait, personal branding and event photographer.Donna is also a brilliant writer and she wrote a powerful blog in May 2022 on the topic of grief, having lost her own father at the age of 16 - and has shared all sorts of thought provoking content on the subject since then.

Grief is such a nuanced topic and the older we get the more grief and loss becomes an inevitable reality, sometimes in the most unexpected of ways. So, it was so interesting to explore this (often unspoken) topic of grief with Donna in more detail and understand how she has navigated her own grief journey while also navigating parenthood.

    During this conversation we discuss…

    - The power behind vocalising and sharing our grief as a way of processing our own emotions, and connecting with others through that shared experience

    - Donna shares how her grief journey is proving to be a life-long, constantly evolving journey that has naturally woven its way into her parenthood and parenting experience

    - And we reflected on how  so many of us may experience grief BEYOND losing a loved one – and the importance of granting ourselves  permission to really feel into our emotions rather than hide away from them

  • This week I’m sharing a wonderfully down-to-earth and relatable conversation I had with Menopause Coach and Therapist, Louisa Hussey, about how she has found a way to ‘do her thing’ in life and Motherhood while navigating what she describes as being ‘the worst menopause ever’ If you’re a woman, menopause is an inevitability – whether you care to face that reality or not!  And as Louisa shares, while we will all have different experiences, for some the menopause can be a pretty turbulent time of our lives IF we don’t have the tools or support to take ownership of how our bodies are changing and what we really need.  Off the back of her own  challenging menopause journey Lou has not only found her own way to regain control over how her life looks and feels but has also used her experience to support other women "being kicked in the tits by their hormones" (which I think probs gives you a sense of her vibe!) During this wonderful (and highly entertaining!) chat we discussed so much including:
The importance of de-stigmatising the menopause and instead owning this chapter of our lives for ourselves, head onThe power of self-trust and staying connected to ourselves, even when we’re finding it hard to recognise ourselvesLou shares how leaning into simplicity and ease has been a key survival technique for her, plus shares a heap of other amazing tips to help you do the menopause in a you-shaped way

And what if your comparison could actually present you with a really positive and insightful opportunity to 'do your thing' with more ease and authenticity?

Well, it can! And if you listen to this episode I'll share with you a secret about your comparison that might help you BEFRIEND it rather than hate its guts!! Yup you heard me!!

    - Why I believe so many of us experience comparisonitis, especially as women and Mums

    - Three essential steps to help you build some strong foundations to tackle your comparison, head on!

    - A powerful nugget of magic that will help you understand what your comparisonitis is REALLY trying to tell you.

I believe that comparison is one of the major blocks in our way to feeling the freedom to doing our thing in life, parenthood and everything in between.

  • This episode of Do Your Thing is another wonderful conversation from my Instagram live archives where I speak to the inspiring Polly Lavarello about how she ‘does her thing’ as a co-parent to her kids.

Polly is an evergreen coach, mentor and scaling strategist for audaciously ambitious and highly-skilled business owners.

PLUS she's a devoted Mum to her 2 kids who she co-parents with her ex-husband, who lives abroad.

Polly shares some brilliant wisdom and insight here that I'm certain will inspire and offer support, solidarity and hope to anyone navigating a family separation right now.

    During this conversation...

    >> We chatted about how Polly’s overall lifestyle, sense of identity and experience of Motherhood have been profoundly impacted by her unique parenting set-up.

    >> Polly explains how navigating co-parenting her kids has been an understandably emotional and testing experience that she’s needed to give space to evolve and grow into over time.

    >> Polly shares how she navigated the most challenging times to ultimately establish her own empowering, joyful and aligned way to 'do her thing' in life and motherhood both during the times she’s with her kids and also when they are apart.

  • In this episode of Do Your Thing I had the pleasure of talking to Emma Cossey all about how she ‘Does Her Thing’ navigating life and parenthood with ADHD.

As well as being a Mum, Emma is a coach and mentor for freelancers.

PLUS Emma is also neurodivergent, diagnosed with ADHD in 2022 - and her son who is 9 also has ADHD.

So therefore, everything Emma does in life, business and parenthood is designed and adapted to be as dopamine-friendly as possible to support the unique needs of both herself and her family.

Through her coaching work Emma also extends her expertise to support freelancers (many of whom are neurodivergent) to develop their businesses in alignment with the way their brains work!

This conversation was fascinating and inspring!

Among so many other things we talked about:

    >> The challenges of letting go of neuro-typical advice, especially when it comes to doing motherhood with ADHD

    >> Emma shares how misunderstood she felt growing up without an ADHD diagnosis and how owning her ‘neurodiverse’ and ADHD labels has massively enhanced her self-esteem, professional aspirations and relationship with her son

    >> We also finished up having a really juicy chat about the shame so commonly attached to not finding motherhood fulfilling – and how Emma’s ADHD has offered her a welcome invitation to do parenthood HER way.

  • This episode is one of my absolute favourites from my Instagram live archives where I speak to Sarah Newlands about her sobriety journey, and how her relationship with alcohol has shaped the way she does her thing in life, motherhood - and everything in between.

Sarah made the big, bold and brave decision to go sober over 5.5 years ago, and went on to use her insights and experience to support others on their sobriety journey. At the time of recording she was practicing as a Sobriety Coach but has since moved on to explore another professional avenue. However she still supports and is very much connected to the alcohol-free community especially through THE DRYY APP .

Sarah shares her journey with so much openness, honesty, passion and vulnerability, covering so many topics including:

    >> How she reached the turning point to go sober and why this lifestyle choice matters to much to her

    >> The profound impact sobriety has had on her mental health, life choices and experience of Motherhood

    >> The joys and the challenges attached to being alcohol-free

    >> Some invaluable tips, support and wisdom for anyone that is sober-curious or ready to consider a change in their relationship with drinking.

This is such an important conversation so I hope you find this a supportive and enlightening episode full of valuable reflections.

(NB: please excuse a few recording and sound imperfections on this episode, part of which was originally recorded as an Instagram live rather than using a professional podcast setup. I've managed to let it go - so I hope you can too! ;-) )

  • During this weeks episode I talk to Emily Armitage about how she ‘Does Her Thing’ by embracing her Human Design.

Emily is a Mum of one, and a business coach, strategist and Human Design translator. And she is obsessed with supporting female founders (with big dreams) to ditch the 'should's', make more money and smash the patriarchy by showing up in life and business as their most fully expressed selves.

Ever since Emily discovered the magic of Human Design she has felt empowered and liberated to show up in her life, career and parenthood so much more confidently and authentically BUT it’s safe to say that many of us won’t have a clue what Human Design is, let alone how it could change our lives for the better.

So I hope this fascinating and highly informative conversation will enlighted you about Human Design as much as it did me!

In this episode Emily explains what Human Design is and how it can help you discover and de-code who you are and provide a supportive framework to ‘do your thing’ accross all parts of your life.

She shares how her Human Design has profoundly shaped her sense of identity, parenting and professional journey.

And she unpacks how, as women, we can use our Human Design to challenge the programming of our own societal conditioning and instead take steps to live our lives and raise our kids with integrity, self-trust and deep self-compassion.

  • Happy New Year! And welcome to my first podcast episode of 2024!

Feeling overwhelmed or bombarded by all the 'New Year, New You' noise already? Me too ;-)

So I want to make sure you're aware that you have a permission slip to skip all that hubbub and get to the good part....

The part where YOU get to start the new year YOUR way, doing YOUR thing.

In this episode I share my own thoughts about 'new years resolution culture' and how that's impacted the way I feel about 1st January.

And I share a selection of ways to help YOU start 2024 in a way that feels true, authentic and atuned to where you're at right now (which may well involve doing NOTHING at all, just FYI!)
