  • This week on DingoTalk, we feature Mike Cerasuolo ’93, who is entering his ninth season as the head coach of the Springfield College football program for the 2024-25 academic year. Appointed as the 14th head coach in January 2016, Cerasuolo is just the fifth head football coach at Springfield in the past 70 years.

    In the 2023 season, Cerasuolo led the Pride to their third consecutive NEWMAC title, hosting an NCAA Division III Tournament First Round game. He was named the ECAC Division III Coach of the Year and led the NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Under his leadership, the Pride topped the nation in rushing offense with over 380 yards per game.

    Springfield repeated as NEWMAC Champions in 2022, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the first time since 2006. Cerasuolo and his staff were honored as the NEWMAC Co-Coaching Staff of the Year.

    The 2021 season saw Springfield go undefeated in conference play, returning to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Cerasuolo was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year, reinforcing Springfield's presence on the national stage.

    In 2018, Cerasuolo guided the team to a New England Bowl title and produced two D3football.com All-America honorees. The team had a Gagliardi National Player of the Year Semifinalist for the second consecutive year, with Nick Giorgio '19 invited to the New Orleans Saints Rookie Minicamp.

    Cerasuolo's second season, 2017, was historic as Springfield went 10-0 in the regular season, winning the inaugural NEWMAC Championship. He was named NEWMAC and The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Division II/III New England Coach of the Year, with Springfield leading all college football in rushing at over 435 yards per game.

    Before becoming head coach, Cerasuolo spent 15 years as the offensive coordinator for the Pride, leading them to five national rushing titles. He has been a sought-after clinician and has significantly contributed off the field, involving the team with Team IMPACT and the Be The Match program.

    A Northboro, Mass. native, Cerasuolo has an extensive coaching history, including positions at Mansfield, Alfred, Lebanon Valley, SUNY Cortland, University of Maine, and Ithaca. A former standout student-athlete at Springfield, he earned multiple accolades and degrees in physical education and sport pedagogy.

  • This week on DingoTalk, we sit down with Austin Dickinson, the head football coach at Buena Vista University, as he prepares for his second season leading the Beavers.

    Austin brings a wealth of experience to BVU. He previously served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he coached six All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players. Before returning to the Division III level, he was the recruiting coordinator and defensive coach at Minnesota State University-Mankato. During his time there, the Mavericks achieved a remarkable 27-2 record and reached the DII National Championship game. Under his guidance, their defense was ranked first in both total defense and scoring defense in 2019.

    A 2010 BVU graduate, Austin was a standout player for the Beavers, earning four letters and starting for three years. After his playing career, he began coaching as a graduate assistant at Minot State University. He then returned to BVU in 2012, where he spent five years coaching the defensive line and serving as the recruiting coordinator, focusing on Iowa and Nebraska.

    Austin's coaching journey also includes a stint at the University of North Dakota before his successful tenure at Minnesota State. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from BVU and a master’s degree in Education from Minot State.

    Outside of football, Austin and his wife Whitney, also a 2010 BVU graduate, are proud parents to their daughter, Landry.

  • This week on DingoTalk, we sit down with Ryan Munz, currently in his third season as head coach at UW-Platteville and his 22nd year with the team. Munz has been a vital part of the program, having served as the offensive coordinator since 2007.

    In his debut season as head coach, Munz led the Pioneers to a 5-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the WIAC, securing notable victories against ranked teams including Bethel, UW-River Falls, and UW-Whitewater. The win against UW-Whitewater was particularly significant, marking the first victory over them since 2004 when Munz himself was the quarterback.

    Under Munz's leadership, the 2016 season saw the Pioneers boasting the best scoring offense in the WIAC, averaging over 40 points per game. The team featured outstanding performances, with Tom Kelly setting a single-season touchdown passing record, Dan Arnold breaking the single-season receiving yards per game record, and Wyatt Thompson setting a single-game rushing record. That year also saw the Pioneers returning to the NCAA playoffs, with Dan Arnold gaining NFL recognition.

    The Pioneer offense continued to shine in 2015, averaging 38 points and 476 yards per game, leading the conference in passing and red zone efficiency. Munz's offensive strategy had a lasting impact, continuing into 2014 with impressive performances from running back Andy Puccini and quarterback Bryce Corrigan.

    Munz's tenure as offensive coordinator saw record-breaking seasons, with the 2013 team setting numerous program records in total offense, passing yards, and points scored. The Pioneers consistently ranked among the top offenses in the country under his guidance.

    Beyond the field, Munz contributes to the UW-Platteville community as a faculty member in the Health and Performance Department and serves as the Community Service Liaison for the Athletic Department. A former standout quarterback for the Pioneers, Munz holds degrees in business finance and project management and has international playing experience in Germany.
