In this episode we are getting all up in niches. We'll cover:
What exactly is a niche - yep, we are going to get a little word-nerdy in here
Why a niche can be helpful
Where in your business a niche is actually used (no you don't need to apply your niche to all parts of your business)
Examples of when you do and don't need a niche
How niche-y do you need to niche?

As we move into the last part of the calendar year it's a classic time for burnout to strike.
In this episode I want to offer an invitation to pause, check in and see where you're at.
And if you are a frequent flyer in the burnout cycle I want to encourage you to look out for any burnout markers and put in place space to do so frequently as we move towards the end of the year.
I'm also planting a seed for a values based shift in your relationship with yourself and work when it comes to how you think about and respond to burnout. For things to change we need to get back to the root, the values.

Hands up if you identify as an active or recovering people pleaser!
Yep, me too.
And in today's episode I want to unpack people pleasing a little. Especially, I want to touch on:
- people pleasing being something we are asked to perform vs a personality trait (ie. it's not a 'you' problem)
- the roots and values that people pleasing is embedded in
- people pleasing and power dynamics
- where it might show up in business
- how your values can offer an antidote

Offering up a question to reflect through for you this week:
'What's the point?'
And no, not in the nihilistic point of asking but more the why-are-you-doing-this-thing kind of lens.
A space to check in with yourself about what you going after, why you are going after it and whose values are you going after it through.

Change the values or nothing actually changes.
Too often I see people reaching for or implementing tool-level changes - using a different strategy or way of taking action.
And, don't get me wrong, I'm all for action, BUT unless it's grounded in different values, your values, you'll just get the same outcome.
It might be different on the surface but it's not going to be actually different. Same shit, different sandwich and all that...

Have you ever thought to yourself (or screamed out loud!) 'what am I doing wrong?'
Does comparison-itis get you thinking everyone else has it figured out and it's just you that can't get this business thing sorted?
Or do you simply just get overwhelmed and/or distracted by all the business things out there to do, try and implement?
In today's episode I want you to know that you're not doing 'it' wrong....you're probably just trying to fit yourself into somebody else's idea of what it looks and feels like to do business.
Just like how you know your clients aren't doing it wrong - they're just being gaslit by diet culture. I know you aren't doing it wrong either - it's just the same values trying to make you believe it.

If you’re a values driven human then you have an idea of what your values are - whether you’ve got that written down or you’ve articulated it in you head and or heart.
BUT do you know what it looks and feels like to act into your values?
Are your values actionable?
In today’s episode I’m chatting to you about a little difference that I have around values compared to the standard values stuff I come across: values are verbs.
Let’s dive in.

What's joy got to do with it?
A lot actually!
Doing business in a way that reminds you of your humanity, the full kaleidoscope of human emotions and experiences, is part of cultivating a humanity affirming business.
And when we're embedded in an over-culture that wants to discount our humanity, finding joy and moving towards it challenges the status quo.
And that's what I'm here for!

Okay, so you've got an email list, or a podcast or a social media space...now what do you say?
How do you figure out what people want to hear and get clear on what you want to share?
How do you keep coming up with ideas to stay consistent?
That's exactly what we'll chat about in this week's episode:
- getting clear on your approach
- grounding how you want to show up
- how to structure things
- generating ideas on what to say
- ditching the 'shoulds' and the hold of perfectionism
- meeting the needs of your business and your own humanity
- wrapping words around all the things

Ever thought about starting an email list for your business?
Or perhaps you already have a list but you want to add your values aligned lens to it?
This is the episode for you.
Status quo business advice will serve you all the shoulds so this is my antidote to that. I'm sharing:
- why an email list could support your business
- permission to say no to email if you need it
- the technicalities of starting
- getting clear on your capacity
- aligning it with your values
- deciding what need for you and/or your business that an email list meets
- doing it your way.

How do you know you are successful?
And does both your definition of, and how you measure success, align with your values?
In this episode I'm offering up some reflection space and prompts to bring your values into exactly that. To look at the bigger picture of success AND the micro moments too.
To feel successful, how you go after your values driven version of success needs to be aligned with your values too.

It's that time of year - the half way point - where we can start to feel a little overwhelmed or even stressed out about all the things and all the shoulds.
In this (short) episode I want to offer up some reflection questions to support you to get clear on your next best steps.
As always we'll be bringing a non-status quo upholding, values aligning, should and shame free lens to getting clarity and supporting you to go where you want to go.

If you're feeling a little 'blah' about marketing right now and business in general, or if things are feeling slow and you want to add a bit of momentum I have a little something for you on this ep.
I want to offer a different lens to run your marketing through instead of the status quo business lens of transacting. And in fact remove the focus from marketing at all and bring it squarely towards relating.
Relating for the desire to relate....which might just support your marketing while you're at it.

Have you ever heard the phrase 'charge your worth' or 'communicate your value'?
Today I want to chat about them both and invite you to do a little values grounded critical analysis of them.
Spoiler: I think they encourage us to see ourselves as commodities rather than humans in our businesses.

Do you find it hard to work less and do things differently because you simply love the work you do?
Do you find yourself struggling around burnout and still being fulfilled by your work?
If so, you're not alone.
I want to offer up my perspective on why this is a 'thing' and also a reframe that might support you to still honour the enjoyment you find from work and working without disregarding your own needs and values.

Pricing is a hot topic for most health and helping professionals.
Today I want to dive into a little reflection and some curiosity around what values you are bringing to your pricing model.
Status-quo upholding businesses will be based in capitalist pricing structures aimed to exploit and extract. Usually health professionals are so worried about doing this to the humans they work with (ie.clients) that they pendulum swing the other way and extract from themselves.
But values are multidirectional, so let's chat about how you can avoid extractive pricing models and create a sustainable pricing model in your business.
