There are a lot of values disconnects and tension points at the best of times when running a values grounded business inside a status-quo upholding business system.
And these 'unprecedented' times continue to add more tension.
Tension can be uncomfortable AND it also holds possibility (h/t James Olivia Chui Hillman).
Where are the opportunities to wrap words around what you are feeling and processing. Firstly as a support for yourself and then as a way to signal to the humans in your ecosystem that they're not alone.
A reminder to ourselves and others that we are human, doing our best to human and hoping that we can human together.
If you feel unsure, if you feel uncomfortable, if you feel called to - wrap words around it and share it.
All the words and the nuance and a few caveats in this ep.
Let's dive in.

Let's talk hope. Not as a wish or desire but as a grounding in your values, a commitment to act into those values and an embracing of the unknowable future.
I want to talk about hope, an antidote for the shit show that is the world right now and a tangible space to take action from. A tool for business and a call to start co-creating a different kind of world.
And I want to share a few quotes that I find supportive reminders, as well as a few spaces where you can ground into hope and find the relational inspiration and shared human experience to keep turning towards and acting into hope.

As a new calendar year begins what are you deciding: more of the same or actually different?
The thing is, you get to choose. If you want things to be different, if you want to be co-creating a different kind of world what are you deciding to do about it?
And once you decide...
What action(s) do you need to follow through on your commitment to actually doing things differently in your business? And what supports do you need to allow you to take them?

Welcome to the first podcast ep of 2025!
I wanted to start off the year by sharing my Word for the Year and what it will look like in action for me.
Do you have a word of the year? Anything you are looking forward to or diving into for 2025? I'd love to hear from you about it.

If you're guilty of prioritising everyone else's needs and agendas over your own then this one's for you!
Health and helping professionals are notorious for de-centreing their needs and I want to present an alternate option that isn't a pendulum swing into 'selfishness' but an acceptance and awareness of your own needs and how meeting those reduces both resentment and burnout.
There's a million ways to plan, and this is less a prescriptive step-by-step and more a concept to hold as you being any planning for the calendar year ahead or at any time.
No need to 'make 2025 the best year ever' (unless you want to of course) AND I invite you to consider how you could make it the most you-est year ever.
The year where your priorities are a priority in your planning and by extension, your business.

Today's episode let's chat about a couple of things.
Firstly - celebrating. Celebrate your wins, celebrate what you're proud of, celebrate you!
This time of year it's so easy to move into planning and looking ahead. Culturally we are encouraged to keep moving onto the next thing, the next goal, the next achievement. So i'd like to invite you to first notice and celebrate.
Secondly - aligning with your seasons and rhthms.
Again, there is a cultural/social message that this time of the year is for certain things. BUT we exist in different parts of the world and are all experiencing different seasons of life. So my question for you is - what actions or inactions align with your current season, capacity and resourcing?

As we move into the last part of the calendar year it's a classic time for burnout to strike.
In this episode I want to offer an invitation to pause, check in and see where you're at.
And if you are a frequent flyer in the burnout cycle I want to encourage you to look out for any burnout markers and put in place space to do so frequently as we move towards the end of the year.
I'm also planting a seed for a values based shift in your relationship with yourself and work when it comes to how you think about and respond to burnout. For things to change we need to get back to the root, the values.

Hands up if you identify as an active or recovering people pleaser!
Yep, me too.
And in today's episode I want to unpack people pleasing a little. Especially, I want to touch on:
- people pleasing being something we are asked to perform vs a personality trait (ie. it's not a 'you' problem)
- the roots and values that people pleasing is embedded in
- people pleasing and power dynamics
- where it might show up in business
- how your values can offer an antidote

Offering up a question to reflect through for you this week:
'What's the point?'
And no, not in the nihilistic point of asking but more the why-are-you-doing-this-thing kind of lens.
A space to check in with yourself about what you going after, why you are going after it and whose values are you going after it through.

Change the values or nothing actually changes.
Too often I see people reaching for or implementing tool-level changes - using a different strategy or way of taking action.
And, don't get me wrong, I'm all for action, BUT unless it's grounded in different values, your values, you'll just get the same outcome.
It might be different on the surface but it's not going to be actually different. Same shit, different sandwich and all that...
