  • Decomposed Radio show 090 (or should it be 909 ;) ) is LIVE!
Featuring a live improvised techno set from "Alkis" it's one for the techno connoisseurs, and not for the faint hearted!
With a background in electronics Alkis is right at home with analogue synths and beats, and specialises in hypnotic melodies, abrasive acid sounds and spacey synthtic rhythms, all created on a pure hardwear setup. Every set is live, unique and unrepeatable, and if you're a fan of artists like Jeff Mills and Surgeon..... you're in the right place!
The set was recorded at "Bagfest" a small festival in Nottinghamshire.... that sounds like it would make Robin Hood proud!!!!
    Enoy.......!

  • Here in Sheffield, we're still reeling from the outrageous "Works Party".... all 3 phases of it!!

That said, the music doesn't stop and it's high time for another Decomposed Radio installment. For show 089 we have the DJ known as "Bleaklow" who's a familiar face as one of the organisers behind Ulterior - officially Sheffield's funnest techno night.

Also know as Miriam Dobson, Bleaklow's renowned for high energy techno with a dusting of acid thrown in for good measure. Today's show features a live recording of her set from the Saturday night of this year's underground and always outstanding Lakes Party, in the infamous Freeborn Man techno tent. It features tough, tonal and sometimes trancey techno and is as uniquely awesome as all the sets we feature on the show.

So crank it right up...... this is Decomposed Radio 089... with Bleaklow......

  • It's high time for another Decomposed Radio installment!

Up this time is "Fen" also known as George Boynton, a name some of you will recognise from a previous Decomposed Radio episode that was a real fan favourite, under the previous DJ moniker "Brutalist."
Fen is also the creative psyched and genius behind one of the Sheffield techno scene's most legit nights "Magnetic North" that specialises in meta-physical rhythms from Sheffield, Manchester and beyond!
For the first time in nearly 2 years Magnetic North returns to Sheffield and the lineup is weighing in heavy with DJs inbound from Berlin and London, all powered by Sheffield's very own RAZE soundsystem, at the prestigious Hope Works venue on the 24th of November.
Tickets are available on Resident Advisor, so save the date and check out the Magnetic North instagram page for more intel.

In terms of the mix for Decomposed Radio 088, it's the usual sonic mission we've come to expect from George. With deep hypnotic tracks, industrial crunch and bouncy grooves that's all set to become another firm favourite, and the catalyst for many a request to get him back on the show again.
It's a great representation of the pace and energy he creates on the dancefloor, so get stuck in....
This is Fen..... in the mix.... for Decomposed Radio 088.

    Push on!!!!!

  • For Decomposed Radio 087 it's time to welcome another talented new artist to the roster... "Flostate"

Currently residing in the steel city, Flostate learned and developed her DJ craft in the constantly emerging techno hotspot of North Wales, and hasn't looked back since.

Heavily influenced by artists such as Dr. Rubenstein, but with her unique brand Acid Techno that she loves and is super passionate about, she's put together a phenomenal insightful mix which is a fantastic example of the different moods within this genre-within-a-genre, that's all set to become a listener favourite.

So settle yourselves in for this deep dive into the acid techno depths, with Flostate... on Decomposed Radio shoe 087.....

  • With everyone still reeling from Steve Worth's epic sonic expedition on show 085, it seemed only right to come up for air for a bit before heading back under for the next dose.

Sure enough, for show 086, we've got another smasher!

Elliot Shiel is rapidly becoming a name to watch and listen out for if you're a techno connoisseur, which we all are....

After being inspired to dive into DJing whilst surrounded by the climbing and techno scene at Uni and providing the soundtrack for many a wild house party, the cat well and truly got out of the bag after a polished and professional debut set at the infamous "Works Party" a few years back, which was one of the highlights of the main event.

This led to plenty more top notch sets at some great events, such as Sheffield's funnest techno night "Ulterior."

So get stuck in for this outstanding blend of deep and melodic techno and house, from Elliot Shiel on Decomposed Radio show 086......

  • Welcome again to Decomposed Radio...

The name Steve Worth will be very familiar to regular listeners of the show, having already provided us with a mega mix of tech house and techno back in the early days, for show 023!

So I'm very happy to say he's back again, and this time hasn't just stepped it up, but more like smashed it right out of the park with an outrageous indulgent mix of mammoth proportions that you're guaranteed not to tire of, and are gonna want to return to again and again.

It was recorded at the iconic, weird, wild and wonderful North Wales venue "The Fricsan" which it's great to hear is back up and at 'em again.

The mix has pretty much everything in there, all seamlessly blended as we've come to expect!

So enough from me, ramp up the psyche level and lock yourself in, for Steve Worth recorded live, for Decomposed Radio 085...........

  • Welcome to Decomposed Radio show 084.
As promised, we've not just got show favourites lined up, but also some new up and coming faces, the first of which is "Cavey."

Well known in climbing and mountaineering circles, Andy Cave is another example of a very accomplished climber for whom music is a key part of life and general psyche, and has channeled their creative energies into DJing with fantastic results.

Brought up in a house full of vinyl, Cavey was always set to develop a classy and eclectic musical taste including the sounds of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the Indie and Acid House scene. This combined with witnessing DJ sets by many of the greats at iconic events like the early days of Sonar and Cocoon in The Park, was always set to result in a great creative output with his DJing.

After a blistering debut mix of house, breaks and techno at the legendary Hendre Hall, plenty more sets have followed at venues such as Sheffield's Burton Street Community Centre, The Foundry, and loads of other indoor and outdoor parties.

He's worked super hard on his DJ skills and really relishes the craft, so the mix he's put together for show 84 is all set to become a Decomposed classic in line with show favourites like Sophie Keltie, Haaayz and Freeborn Man.

So sign yourselves up and settle in..... this is Decomposed Radio Show number 84, with Cavey......

  • Welcome at long last, to Decomposed Radio season 2!

Apologies for the lack of content from us, I know it's been far too long, but I'm psyched to get amongst it again, and as before will aim to provide a steady stream of psyche tunes for you all. I'm gonna aim for at least one show per month, and get well over the hundred show mark. So we're glad to have you with us in 2023! Let's 'ave it! The future's bright.... the future's techno!

First up and for show 83, we've got Decomposed Radio boss GusN8r's set from the outrageous annual "Works Party" at club Signal back in December. Hopefully it allows any of you that was there to relive it, and anyone that wasn't to get an idea of the amazing vibes in the club on the night.

So let's get into the thick of it. Thanks to everyone who has supported the show, shared the mixes, and sent really nice messages. It really does make it all worthwhile (that and knowing that there's mutants doing hard moves on boards all around the world whilst listening to Decomposed Radio!)

So this is Decomposed Radio show 083, with GusN8r.

    We're back baby!!!!!

  • Welcome back to lockdown with Decomposed Radio!
Once upon a time in Sheffield, 2 Spanish climbers came to visit and get amongst the unique scene that a lot of us know and love so well. They became affectionately know as "Spanish Number One" and "Spanish Number Two" and stayed for a year or two having a great time enjoying both climbing and epic techno nights!
Even after their return to Spain, they once came back to visit for one amazing night to see Ben Klock at Fabric in London, before getting the plane back at 8am, which gives you some idea of the psyche and commitment of these lads, also known as Unai and 8c Kev.
On the back of their experience in the UK, Unai even opened a wall back in Spain, called "The Climb" which is an awesome little slice of Sheffield all that way away in Madrid!
So when Spanish Number 2 recently got in touch recommending a talented friend for Decomposed Radio, I knew we were onto a winner as these guys are definitely techno connoisseurs.

So, on that note...Enter "Hattom" who's been an established techno DJ since 1999, and is a veteran of tons of underground techno parties and club nights in Madrid. He's recorded a phenomenal dark mix of deep, ambient, industrial and tough techno, with everything in between. It's another real sonic journey with incredible sounds and atmospheres, all set to be a podcast favourite.
So big up to the legends over in Madrid, and thanks to Jakob for the fantastic mix.
This is Decomposed Radio, keeping it international, with "Hattom" on show number 82.........

  • Welcome again to Decomposed Radio!
Sad times this weekend, for what would have been this years "Works Party" here in Sheffield. What I wouldn't give at the moment to be catching up with everyone on a dark sweaty dancefloor, and going off to some waddage techno!
But things are what they are right now, and we'll just have to bottle up all that psyche, and smash it beyond all the realms this time next year!
To ease the passing slightly and keep you dancing, we've got an awesome live mix for you from Decomposed newcomer, but sesh regular "Octavia," who incorporates a selection of tech live hardware and software to produce some dreamy and really sonically colourful techno!
We're gonna dive straight into it, feel free to get in touch and let us know what you think.
Keep it together out there and be nice to each other!
This is Decomposed Radio number 081, with "Octavia"..........

  • WE ARE OFFICIALLY BACK WITH A VENGEANCE!!

1,000 apologies for the big break, but with all the corona-carnage things just got a bit hectic, as well as not necessarily having a lot of new music to put out.

So we've had a break, recharged the batteries, and now we're back in force! We've got some great shows lined up, featuring both Decomposed Radio favourites, and also some new names that you might not have heard of unless you've been lucky enough to experience some relatively recent underground parties in Sheffield... pre-lockdown obviously... no one wants to get fined £10k do they!??

For the first show back, to ensure we make a proper re-entrance, we sought out one of the shining lights of some of the more recent Decomposed Radio shows.
Dan Middleton, or "Middleman" has already supplied us with an incredible mix for show 070, and was an obvious choice to get things back on track with his unique style of mixing emotive techno which always forms a seamless journey through different moods.
It's the sort of wisdom in record selection that you'd expect from someone who's been listening to techno for a couple of decades, and it's been an absolute pleasure to witness his transition from techno consumer, to dispenser!

So strap yourselves back in for the ride, and let's push on!
This is Decomposed Radio - The Revenge! with Middleman.......

  • You're back in lockdown with Decomposed Radio.
First up, big up to everyone who's been live streaming sets to keep everyone psyched, entertained and on track. From Sheffield Techno Institute to Ulterior to Hope Works, it's clear that music really is one of the answers during difficult times!
On that note, unless you've been hiding under a rock somewhere, you can't fail to have experienced Sam Whittaker's amazing Friday afternoon live set streams, that he's been smashing out since the start of lockdown scenes!
Often accompanied by super inspiring climbing photos and footage from around the globe, as well as some outstanding comedy vests, they were the highlight of most people's weeks during full lockdown and for some, the only real indication that the weekend was actually kicking off!
So based on all this, for show 079, we're bringing you a live recording of Sam's set from Code Nightclub back in late 2019, which is a mammoth journey through some great deep house and techno.
Also know as "DJ Galup" he really needs no introduction to Decomposed Radio listeners, so let's dive right in.

Be excellent to each other out there, this is Sam Whittaker recorded live at the 2019 works party for your listening pleasure......

  • Welcome back to the lockdown with Decomposed Radio!
For show 078 we're again solidifying that link between the UK climbing scene and quality techno, which I'm sure we all need plenty of at the moment during these wild times!

Featuring this time round is top British climber Jim Pope, who as well as being at the top of his game out on rock also has a hefty talent for selecting and mixing techno.

He's put together a stand out blend of superb and really interesting cuts, with a couple of inspired additions that the hardcore grit trad climbing enthusiasts among you should definitely recognise!

Whilst we're on that subject, if that's your bag then you should definitely check out Jim's new film "Big Balls and Highballs" which is a mega throwback to the all killer, no filler grit flicks of old, which basically translates as a load of westies getting fully amongst it on some spicy gritstone chop routes! All set to a waddage deep techno soundtrack!

So go and give this legend of a young man a follow on social media, and lock yourselves down for 45 minutes of dreamy techno from Jim Pope, in the mix for Decomposed Radio show #088.........Get some!!

  • You're in lockdown with Decomposed Radio, and show 077.

Hope you're all doing OK out there. During these crazy times, we're here to spread some good vibes and happiness through music, so with this in mind we're featuring another set from Decomposed Radio favourite "MALX" that's guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!

Recorded in the Rave Cave at Code Nightclub in Sheffield back in December 2019, it's an absolute riot that oozes with tons of cheeky character, and vies for the record for how many guilty pleasure you can fit into one 45 minute mix, including classics from Madonna and The Pet Shop Boys, Rave Anthems from Altern-8, old skool european techno and even some dubious Happy Hardcore.

    Sounds wild right....?

As always with Malx, somehow all this is done with a bit of class and style, and if this set has even a small percentage of the effect on Decomposed listeners that it had on Room 2 at Code then trust me..... you're gonna be going off in isolation!!

Big up to Malx and Clare for their recent new addition to the fam Adam, hope you guys are starting him early on the techno scenes!

So here we go, this is Malx in the lockdown mix for Decomposed Radio show 077.

    Hang on to your hats.........

  • You're locked back in with Decomposed Radio for another high quality techno fix.

We still have a couple of wild sets from the infamous "Works Party" back in December to share with you, but for show 076, we're focusing on some up and coming new talent as per one of the Decomposed Radio mission briefs.

Featuring on today's show is London born DJ/ Producer "JDC" who after making waves in London at venues such as XOYO, 93 feet east and Lightbox, is now based firmly in Sheffield, and heads up the always unique local underground electronic music experience "Magnetic North" alongside Decomposed Radio favourite from show 063 "Brutalist."

Head over to Facebook ASAP and check out the full details on Magnetic North nights, including their techno heavy line up later this evening, and settle in for this stellar journey through solid deep techno cuts, from JDC.....

  • You're back with Decomposed Radio, and show number 075.

As promised, we're rewinding again to Code Nightclub in early December 2019 for the outrageously good Climbing Works party.
We've got quite a few of the sets recorded which is ace, so this time round we have my own set from the night, which closed out phase I of the party, and kicked off around 4.30am I think.

I really can't stress enough what a privelege it is to play for a crowd like we get at this event, and looking out to a packed dancefloor full of happy, super up for it faces.
You just know you can let loose a bit and lead people on a bit of a journey which they'll be more than happy to follow you on.
I really enjoyed listening to the set back again whilst putting the show together, and remembering how up for it and properly locked into the music I was, confident that I could dish out some feisty acid techno, as well as some deep, tough spacey stuff, separated by what's become a bit of a traditional old skool breakdown slap bang in the middle.

So let's waste no time and get stuck right in.
This is GusN8r in the mix, recorded live at Code in Sheffield.
    Crank it right up!!

  • Bless me Papa Sven for I have sinned, it has been over a month since my last techno broadcast.......

We've had a bit of a break here at Decomposed Radio so apologies for the radio silence, but I've been busy collecting and processing some great music for the next few shows, not to mention recovering from the incredible Works Party (and after parties) back in December.

Speaking of which, the next few shows will feature sets from the 2 rooms at the Climbing Works Party; Solid techno from the main room, and some weird and wonderful stuff from the amazing "Rave Cave" which had me unexpectedly dancing like a lunatic on the night!

First up on the techno side of things, is this year's special guest "E-Kul" who kicked things into overdrive in the main room around 3am!
He's been DJing, and promoting and running techno nights since the age of 16, when he managed to scrape together enough money to buy a pair of decks and a 2-channel mixer.

Nights like "Havok" at Phoenix Club as well as the legendary "Orbit" were major influences, as well as artists like Ben Sims, Jeff Mills, Speedy J and UR.
All this results in a high energy, tough and fast style which you'll hear in the mix today, but the great thing about this type of techno is that it still has a real tangible groove to it, which drives it along nicely!

So strap yourselves in, and travel back in time to the 6th December at Code nightclub in Sheffield on 6th December last year...
This is Decomposed Radio, in the mix, with E-Kul......

  • You're back in the game with Decomposed Radio....and another welcome return from a podcast favourite.

All the way back on show #013 "DJ Decent" announced his arrival onto the scene with a superb mix of deep, characterful techno. Since then he's gone on to continually impress audiences at loads of underground nights and parties, from The Lakes, to Sheffield, to Leeds.

His sets are often the stand out feature of any night he appears at and whilst always different, unique and original they're always incredible audio journeys through sonic landscapes, dreamy synths, and deep tough techno.

So that's 100% what you can expect on the show today. we've been trying to pin Nathan down to do another mix for us for a while, so I'm really happy to welcome him back.

If you're up and about at the Kendal Mountain Festival this weekend, The Decomposed Radio takeover will be happening at the official festival afterparty on Saturday night, at Ruskins bar, so be sure to get your tickets and check it out if you're there!

In the meantime however, treat your ears with this perfect mix of lush synths and deep hard techno from DJ Decent, on Decomposed Radio #073.........

  • Welcome to another Decomposed Radio show!

With the rain lashing down here in Sheffield and throughout the UK, it's high time for some much needed uplifting, soulful summery vibes, and our go to minister for this sort of thing is the one and only 'Dimitry Soul," who we last featured all the way back on show number 020!!

After an amazing summer in Ibiza involving 150 DJ sets at venues including The Beach Star Hotel, Savannah, Ibiza Rocks, Paradise Lost and Enigma, we expected nothing less than the lush mix of deep and soulful house that he's put together for show #072, which is guaranteed to put the smile back on your face!

So break back out the sunglasses and party hats, stick a middle finger up to the UK weather, and get your groove on to Dimitry Soul, in the mix for Decomposed Radio 072......

  • Welcome back to Decomposed Radio!

For show #071, we're going back in time to relive some incredible scenes in the Lake District, at the end of July earlier this year.

The music, antics and general mischief at the "Freeborn Man Techno Tent" in what has now affectionally come to be known as "Sesh Valley" are now nothing short of legendary, and I was lucky enough to be invited along to play a set there on the Friday night of the 3 day event.

With such an appreciative crowd there, plus alot of friends it's an event at which you can let loose a bit, and play some tracks that you might not normally, as well as the odd comedy addition mixed in for a bit of fun! So with that in mind, we hope you enjoy this slightly wild and random set.
This is Decomposed Radio's own "GusN8r" in the mix, for show number 071........
