  • In our quest to cover every bit of TV writing from Russell T Davies, we've been brought today to a strange little "sitcom" from 2001. RTD wrote one episode of the show Linda Green, which we're watching to complete his 1999-2005 era. We don't focus on the main cast (apart from when they're getting a bit too pleased with themselves) because we're too busy seeing Anne Reid appear in a guest role. We also look at what RTD is saying about death and legacy in this episode, and why the messaging feels so confused by the end.

  • This podcast is an excuse for Zac and Louis to discuss things they like/are interested in. Zac liked Wicked so much that he has been looking for people to talk to about it, and Louis found it so interesting they knew it was time to hop on a call. In this review bonus, we talk about subversions, disability representation/discourse, and Jeff Goldblum. Enjoy!

  • We're touring Europe today! Zac and Louis are back watching Casanova, where our seductive hero has been exiled from Venice, and must now visit every European capital to get turkeys off the menu... I mean, to get a pardon from that country's Venetian ambassador. Along the way, he finds fame in England, fortune in France, infection on the way to Poland, and fire in Naples. Joining him along the way is Rocco and his illegitimate son, who is also called Giac! Meanwhile, Zac tells us about his journeys of the soul, and Louis recounts a more literal journey he took last month.

  • It's a new show, with a very familiar face. Louis and Zac are joined by short-filmmaker Bruno Buckley to dive into Casanova, Russell T Davies' titillating period drama, about Italy's most famous romantic. The show stars David Tennant, Nina Sosanya, Laura Fraser, Shaun Parks, Matt Lucas, and some people who weren't in Doctor Who, and it was released in 2 or 3 parts (don't worry we'll get to that) in 2005. With a direction style much more ambitious than the shows we've reviewed so far, we knew it was time to shift our approach to commentary, and give more focus this time round to the filmmaking process, so enjoy!

  • The thrilling conclusion of Mine All Mine, and it's election day! Danny is alive, but everyone is in danger, as Zac and Louis sit down to pick apart the explosive finale. Max is back at the whim of the townsfolk, which is almost a shame considering how much fun last episode was. The duo also look back on the series as a whole, what the show could have been had it picked up the pace sooner.

  • After so long, the podcast is finally gay again. Zac and Louis are back to look at Mine All Mine Episode 5, most famous for introducing Yanto (not Ianto) Jones, and not actually airing on TV. The Vivaldi's are reigning supreme, but how long before the power corrupts? (spoiler: like 2 days) This episode was greatly cut down before syndication and stuck onto the front of Episode 6 to create an abridged series finale, but thanks to the power of rare DVDs, Louis and Zac were able to review the episode in its entirety, and it turned out to be way more crucial to the plot than episodes 3 and 4 combined (and that's scientific fact). We hope you enjoy this one, because we had such a blast making it.

  • Here's a bonus treat for you all. In the latest episode of Davies on Davies, we went on a lot of tangents, so to help with pacing we've separated our media review recap into it's own thing. It's time to hear our takes on Lady Gaga, Kaos, Ludwig, Dark (and other time travel television), and seeing Juno Dawson at a literary festival.

  • This is one of those unhinged episodes, call us Freudian the way we slip. Max has seized the town and it's kicking into gear, so strap in as Zac and Louis mourn a lost future filled with Concordes and Millennium Wheels. Zac recalls his theatrical past, and jumps in to defend Sam the Eggman's social standing. Leo's gayness is bubbling to the surface, and it's making Louis want to introspect (when he's not doing another elaborate bit).

  • Welcome to podcasting on extreme difficulty! We've joked about serious stuff, but now we're having a serious chat about the jokes that get out of hand. Zac and Louis are back to talk about episode 3 of Mine All Mine, and how the moment Claire becomes an antagonist, the fatphobia rears its ugly head. We also discuss how the show lets down its female characters in this episode, even Maria who we really liked up until this point. We discuss potential counter-arguments to our scathe and the places where they break down, and debate how you should actually go about criticising media from "a different time". It's not all doom and gloom though, because those scenes with the Eggman were class!

  • For you, it's only been two weeks, but for Louis & Zac it's been over a month. Emerging from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber that is a production break over August, we're back to talk about episode 2 of Mine All Mine. The hosts also give their top picks from the Edinburgh Fringe, where Zac worked tirelessly while Louis didn't because that was his holiday. Meanwhile in Swansea, the Vivaldi family are getting attention, and running into some powerful enemies. Get ready for a normal because this episode definitely doesn't go completely off the rails...

  • It's a new series of Davies on Davies, and a new show from Russell T Davies, and we're finally leaving Manchester. Mine all mine is best known for one character who appears in episode 5 -Ianto Jones - but THE SHOW IS GOOD IN ITS OWN RIGHT. It's a proper hidden gem and we're gonna dive into it over the next six episodes. Owen from orowen and oreugene is back, and it is a riot. Owen joins Louis and Zac as they travel to Swansea, meet the locals, and finally get their claim to that land recognised.

  • Before we get stuck into Mine All Mine, it's time for a bonus episode. This time, it's a compilation of outtakes from our episodes on Bob & Rose and The Second Coming. Louis also discusses the latest development in the UK government's attack on transgender peoples' humanity and dignity, and why it has no valid science behind it.

  • On this episode, Zac meets the guy we keep going on about, Louis makes a reference that did not age well, and The Second Coming ends as quickly as it began (in 70 minutes to be precise). Things are ramping up as the word gets ready to welcome the Third Testament, but the daemons are at work, so Steve's operation is always close to smashing apart.

We're also joined today by writer Pip Carew, who's show Anti-Heroine will be at the Fringe from the 2nd to the 10th of August, 19:30 at Greenside @ George Street. If you're heading to Edinburgh this year, check it out (and Zac co-produced it so you'll make him very happy).

  • We're back, and it's like we never left. Here is the second part of our discussion with Joe Brennan about episode one of The Second Coming. Russell T Davies imagined a world of miracles and religious nuts, and we're letting it sink in. Louis and Zac watch as the drama gets out of hand, and speculate about how this saga could possible end. Lucky for you, you only have to wait one week to find out!

  • We're back, and this time it's biblical. Louis and Zac have brought in the one and only Joe Brennan to talk about a show where Christopher Eccleston plays a down-to-earth working class supernatural being. Yep, I'm sure it's the one you're thinking of. We had so much to say about this episode, that we had to split the recording into two instalments, so join us next week for EVEN MORE JBOI.

  • It's time for heartbreak and heartmake, as Zac and Louis finish Bob & Rose. Will the events of last episode be enough to break Rose and Bob apart, or will Holly intervene to make sure it happens anyway? She and Rose play detective, while Bob digs himself into a bigger hole than even a kid at the beach.

  • Sound the bells because it's wedding day. Zac and Louis are back for episode 5 of Bob & Rose. The parents get to know each other, Rose quotes a little too much pop-psychology, Bob is presented with the ultimate temptation and when it comes to making us uncomfortable, Holly innovates on a silicon-valley level.
