Theo de Rooij won 14 races in a professional career that spanned the decade from 1980 to 1990. Having ridden with the Panasonic team between 1984-1990, he then became a DS on the team for 4 seasons before joining Rabobank in 1996. He resigned from the Dutch team at the end of 2007.
Theo spoke to Chris Sidwells in 2023 about his career, riding behind the Iron Curtain and riding under – and then working for - the legendary Peter Post. He also found time to recreate his famous interview from the finish of the 1985 Paris-Roubaix!

Does Alison Jackson listen to the Feed Zone? Probably not, but that doesn’t stop Gary from claiming his musical influence on the Paris-Roubaix Femmes winner.
in the real world, it’s Bartali goes to Hollywood as a forthcoming biopic of the Giro and Tour legend is announced, the guys discuss yet more changes on cycling’s small screen plus the European track championships and even make some rash predictions ahead of Het Nieuwsblad/Het Volk/Het Woke*.
(*Yes,the latter is a joke!)

Andy Hampsten is known to millions of cycling fans for THAT image taken as he attacked in Arctic conditions on the Gavia Pass on his way to take the Maglia Rosa during the 1988 Giro d’Italia,. He would then go on to become, so far, the only US rider to win the Italian Grand Tour.
In a show first aired exclusively for premium subscribers in January 2023, Andy talks Chris through some of the highlights of racing career, from riding as a rookie for Bernard Hinault to winning on l’Alpe d’Huez in 1992, and everything else in between.

Resolutions, health tips and inspiration for the new year - we offer none of that as we stumble into 2025. Instead, settle yourself down for an hour of chat with Chris, David and Gary covering everything from neutralised moto-pacing to make races safer to the UK honours system. Plus we talk Six Days of Ghent (only 6 weeks late!) and remember the legendary Gianni Savio who passed away last week. God speed, Swiss Toni!

As well as being a four-time French National Champion, Jean Stablinski won the 1958 Vuelta a España and was World Road Race Champion in 1962. But he is perhaps better known as a super domestique and, notably, one of Jacques Anquetil’s lieutenants between 1958 and 1967.
Celebrating the publication of Cycling Legends 03 Jacques Anquetil, we’ve raided the Cycling Legends archives to bring you one of our earliest features shows which was previously only available to paying subscribers. So here are John Galloway and Chris Sidwells chatting about the career of “Monsieur France”.

Jacques Anquetil is one of the all-time greats. The first five-time Tour de France winner, the first to repeat Fausto Coppi’s Giro d’Italia-Tour double, the ultimate time triallist – a great champion but a mystery as a man.
Anquetil was never what he seemed, and in the latest book in the Cycling Legends series, Chris Sidwells lifts the lid on the man as well as the sporting icon that was Jacques Anquetil. Chris sat down with Gary to chat about the man, the myth and - of course - the book.

As both the Tour and the Tour de France Femmes routes are announced, British telly viewers wake up to the news that they're going to have to cough up for their annual dose of yellow jersey fever from 2026. This plus Demi Vollering adds animal welfare to her palmares and the guys inadvertently promote responsible and safe doping. Just say 'no', kids, unless you've under the supervision of a suitably qualified medical practitioner.
