The Cubs Weekly Podcast had a special announcement on the latest episode. Hosts Andy Martínez and Lance Brozdowski share the exciting news before getting into the start of the Chicago Cubs season.
The duo discuss Kyle Tucker’s red-hot start and what it means to have a true, game-changing bat in the middle of the Cubs lineup. The pair discuss what impact Tucker can have on the Cubs offense over the course of the season. Brozdowski and Martínez then discuss the state of the bullpen after some early season scuffles. They share what and how the Cubs can turn the bullpen around.
Later in the pod, the pair break down Seiya Suzuki’s strong open to 2025. Suzuki’s start made the duo dissect what a 1-2 punch of Suzuki and Tucker can do for the team moving forward. Before wrapping up the pod, Martínez and Brozdowski look at the rotation and discuss whether there is any reason for concern with some early struggles for Justin Steele.

Jason Hammel enjoyed being back at Cubs Convention earlier this year. The former Chicago Cubs pitcher shared what he’s been up to and recapped his time at the annual fanfest on the latest addition of the Cubs Weekly Podcast, chatting with host Andy Martínez.
The pair discussed Hammel’s 13-year big-league career, one that began in Tampa Bay with manager Joe Maddon. Hammel discussed his decision to sign with the Cubs ahead of the 2014 season, after they had lost 96 games the year prior. He discussed his relationship with the front office, the transparency they had and what it was like to be traded at the deadline that year, on the same day he pitched six innings of two-run ball for the Cubs.
Later in the podcast, Hammel shares why he re-signed with the Cubs that following winter. He shares stories about the 2015 team and the World Series winning 2016 team, too. Hammel described the atmosphere of pitching in the playoffs at Wrigley Field, what it was like to finally win the World Series and what he does now with his World Series ring.
