  • Falling apart is hard work, crybabies. But you know what's even harder? NOT falling apart and using all of your precious energy and attention to hold your sh*t together in some configuration based on someone else's polycrisis-inducing imagination for your life! In the LAST EPISODE OF SEASON 2, we'll be looking at why falling apart is a useful technology for these times, how to recognize it when it's at your door, and how to make friends with it. We wrap with a group fondle (of plants, you dirty bird) with the whole existential team over here at crybaby HQ, broadcasting from the center of the jacuzzi-verse. So tune in and let go. We got you. 😭♨️

P.S. The "ai cohost" (part of the pod platform at buzzsprout) suggested "embracing the fall: finding transformation in chaos and jacuzzis" for the title of this episode. Just thought you should at least know that deeply poetic option existed. 🙏🏼

how do we live with all the anger!?
how do we understand and tend to what's beneath it?
is there a way to be with it and not be wholly consumed?
can it be a beacon for personal growth?

  • broadcasting straight from the heart of the jacuzzi-verse (in a quantum overlap with the heart of the western imperialist, death-cult empire!), let's talk about death, baby. but death and uncertainty as secret core drivers of our lives via the unconscious decisions we make, the people we gravitate towards, and the ways we feel about ourselves. so, let's take a cosmically unhinged journey through the twisty relationship between death awareness, collective death anxiety, and self-esteem. AND THEN, we'll explore what's on the other side—the hope, the compassion, the binary-dissolving, the power of mutualism! dana also shares about her time in post-Katrina New Orleans and more. we truly hope you enjoy this episode of crying in my jacuzzi, where we live, laugh, love in the anthropocene.

yes, being human is complex. so much so, that we can forget we have agency—even under violence & oppressive systems—to choose how we show up. so let's swan dive into the wondrous nature of existence by opening ourselves to wonder & awe. to flirting with the world BECAUSE SHE ALWAYS FLIRTS BACK. big-point-alert >> when we open ourselves to relationality, we practice unraveling the painful knots of coloniality. so flirting = liberation (see what we did there?)!

  • in this episode, infused with the sweetness of desire, abundance, and huzzah!, we're going to dig into CELEBRATION AS THE SERIOUS FRIGGIN' BUSINESS THAT IT IS.

in our dominant (westernized) culture, CELEBRATION gets a bad/twisty wrap. it's the thing that you have to hold out for, only do on very special occasions, only do at the end of a journey, and only have if you've won or achieved the intended goal. this model is full of withholding, scarcity, and longing. it's also not encouraging of true, deep, and sustained joy.

so let's look at why we gotta honor our journeys along the way, how a whole social justice movement really lost the plot, and what we can do to infuse our lives with more appreciation and joy along the way.

context warning: dana does not believe that joy is at the highest end of the emotional spectrum and should be prioritized above other feelings...this is just an episode on CELEBRATION, and joy is a key part of that.
