The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear–and that goes double if you’re Laura Benanti. This week we’re doing a Christmas crossover with holiday comedy Elf and Broadway favorite She Loves Me. Join us for our conversation about Walt’s love of humidifiers, Annie’s childhood reindeer trauma, and how ice cream solves all your problems.

Calling all True Americans: it's time to do the Time Warp (again)! Walt and Annie make a soft transition out of Halloween spookiness, by mashing up retro-sci-fi-gender-bending-crazytown The Rocky Horror Picture Show with delightfully cozy Friends-but-you-like-them sitcom New Girl. Meatloafs die and a classic Winston messaround goes awry, while we discuss sexual freedoms in the 1970s, what makes a truly good hang-out sitcom, and whether Tim Curry can do any wrong whatsoever. (Spoiler alert: he can't, but maybe his characters should get a refresher on consent.)

Happy Halloween, ghosts and ghouls! This year, we’re celebrating the spookiest of holidays with classic ‘70s horror-psychological thriller The Omen and contemporary vampire comedy gold What We Do in the Shadows. Join us as we talk about how Brian’s Song might be a horror movie, a Flintstones dinosaur undertaker, and why Damien running his mom off the balcony is totally an understandable mistake that could happen to any kid. Taika Waititi, if you’re listening, please be our friend.
-
Use your screwdriver to break out of your baby pen, but watch out for witches on the way, because this week we're crossing over Shakespearian tragedy Macbeth with classic Nicktoon Rugrats! Walt and Annie are both feeling a bit punchy as they cover the secret to a good Shakespeare play for middle schoolers, the ways that animation can be ugly and gorgeous all at once, and whether any of our listeners were cool in high school. Miraculously, no babies are harmed in the crossover, but we can't say the same for the ice cream truck.

Get in loser, we’re going to Sherwood! This week Walt and Annie are crossing over Ren Faire Adventuretime Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and high school classic Mean Girls! Walt kicks things off with a pun truly unappreciated in its time, we wonder about the similarities between Kevin Costner and Erren Sermerlsen, and we chat about the limits of both Tina Fey’s and oeuvre and KingRichard’s...everything. In the end we basically invent “Reign,” but just remember: everything we do, we do it for you.

Holy forking shirtballs, it’s happening! Hop in your Lamborghini power wheels and check us out, because Walt and Annie are crossing over two of their favorite things of all time: morality farce The Good Place, and goof-goof-roleplaying podcast The Adventure Zone: Balance! We dive deep on these two much-beloved properties, and talk about what makes Clint McElroy a great dad, why we can’t wait for Michael Schur’s baby-punching sitcom, and what happens when Garfield the Deals Warlock takes over the frozen yogurt stand. We stay largely spoiler-free for the first half of the episode, so feel free to listen even if you’re not caught up, and then go binge both of them as soon as possible. Trust us: they’re going to be amazing.
SPECIAL BONUS CONTEST: Leave us a rating and review on iTunes, and you might score yourself a free TAZ Graphic Novel! -
It's time for some adorable owls and mind-boggling mysteries, so hop a boat down under and and bring your deerstalkers! This week, we're mashing up only-worthwhile-Zack-Snyder-movie-in-history Legend of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga'Hoole with classic, archetypical and darn-near-omnipresent detective Sherlock Holmes. Come join us for a story so grand that it could only be told by the convenience store savant himself: filmmaker SNACK ZYDER.
-
Grab your giant cell phones and prepare to get muy emocianado, because this week’s episode is mashing up the grim Spanish Civil War fantasy of Pan’s Labyrinth with the overbearingly bright and sunny sitcom Saved by the Bell! Join us for the weirdest crossover this side of Real World / Road Rules Challenge, which somehow still yields a full and ready-to-pitch outline for a spec script. (Give us a call, Guillermo!) Just remember: high school is exactly as bad as the Spanish Civil War, and Walt has more than four friends.
-
Put on your time-traveling skin suit and get ready to feed some bees to some birds, because we’re headed back to the ironic 1990s! On this episode, we cross over MTV cartoon legend Daria with the dynamic duo of action thrillers, The Terminator and T2. Check us out = as we discuss inappropriate things to watch at sleepovers, who would win in a fight between a baby and a murderbot, and hot new polka sensation The Dariadorfers. We would also discuss some red-hot inter-generational time traveling hook-ups, but Annie puts a stop to that right quick.
-
Get your badges ready, because the Truffle Division is on the case! This week, were crossing over children’s literature classic Charlotte’s Web, and Midwestern black comedy crime caper Fargo. Join us for a discussion of why freelancers deserve payment, the syrup that holds everything together, and the continued history of Annie’s musical theatre background. Also: if you send us pictures of spiders, Annie will block you from all social media feeds and cannibalize you.
-
Brace yourself for some misplaced nostalgia and mid-century Justin Biebers, because this week we’re mashing up classic Americana musical Bye Bye Birdie with perspective-bending classic novel The Sound and the Fury. We talk about the redundancy of this crossover in a world where Mad Men exists, why Brady Bunching it isn’t always the best solution, and how much more expensive it’s gotten to do the show now that Annie’s cashed in her middle-school musical points and gone Equity. Check us out for a fun, wide-ranging discussion, but make sure to do it quick, before a meteor crashes into the city and kills everybody.
-
We’re back from vacation, and ready to whip up another claymation animation that will never be complete! This week we’re mashing up the canceled-too-soon baseball series Pitch with the space-opera paper people of Saga, and no game of intergalactic spaceball sportsball is safe. Join us for a conversation about the burdens of being a traiblazer while also trying to be normal, the wages of post-colonial interstellar war, and why it’s finally time to consign Rookie of the Year to the dustbin of history. Just remember: the true baseball has been inside you all along, and it’s gross.
-
It’s our longest title yet, but don't panic! Pull up a chair to the Starship Bistromath instead, and order a crossover sandwich, because this episode is all about smart adaptations and what we really honestly hate about galaxies. Join us for a conversation about unproblematic-by-adaptation-or-death faves, staying far away from Incesttown, and the tragic fate of Bogey Lowenstein.
-
Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by midnight (or your coach turns back into a pumpkin)! Join us for a conversation about magical ladies, the power of formalwear, and how there are no dogs on the moon but there sure are cats!
-
Get ready for some montages and mayhem, as we take a vacation trip to the Catskills, and Robbie the waiter is happy to see us. We reach into our Mysterious Media Void and cross over the arguable Dance Movie to Rule Them All, "Dirty Dancing," and cross it over with that classic of Dark Scary Christmastime, "Gremlins!" Come join us in the chaos, as shirtless men, life before Roe v. Wade, and Willy Loman are all discussed, and Walt gets Annie on board with the greatest Jerry Orbach pun ever.
-
Hop in an ominous glass elevator, and get out your dimension-hopping knife, because today we're jumping into the cozy familial love-fest of Netflix sitcom Once Upon a Time, and mashing it up with the bonkers philosophical adventuring of the His Dark Materials series. Join us for a discussion that hits harder than a bear wearing armor, as we discuss the way that issues work best in a sitcom setting, what daemon various family members would have, and the absolute joy of Rita Moreno, whether or not she is eating a baby owl.
-

-
Get ready for a roll in ze hay and a barnyard revolution, as we struggle to decide whether this will be a comedy or a drama! This week, we’re crossing over political satire/allegorical novel Animal Farm and monster movie parody fun-fest Young Frankenstein. Join us for a conversation on zombie horses, Mr. Manifesto himself, amazing ladies in comedy, and the newest subscription service, barn box (a new barn every month!). As always, we ask the important questions, like “what if animals, but too much?”
-
Nothing says Americana like baseball, cowboys, and creepy old-timey ghost dolls crawling out of a cornfield. In episode 42, we’re crossing over supernatural sports movie classic Field of Dreams and the original CGI feels-fest, Toy Story. Come join us for a conversation about the awfulness of the word ‘mouthfeel,’ Americana as religion, toys committing crimes, and creepy dancing scarecrows. Also, Annie totally blanks on the name of Now and Then and will be forever ashamed.
