We made it through September! As we go through this transitional time of year, I want you to be ready for the holiday season and soak in all the joy. Let's finish this year strong in your purpose!
September is a prime month for burnout because we're coming off of the chaos of summer and gearing up for the winter season. I hit a wall in September, so I wanted to share five core practices I have used to refuel the tank and overcome burnout, such as writing a triggering journal and focusing on core care.
By identifying the patterns that put you into burnout in the first place, you'll drive awareness to the root cause so you know how to prevent another cycle of it. So tune in to make an action plan to remedy your burnout and reclaim the season!

I’m excited to have two incredible women on today’s episode. Jan and Erin Johnson, founders of Trailblazher magazine, join us for a conversation about their mission, storytelling, and fostering connection.

This wildfire, ignited by lightning, caused extensive damage to ranches and farms. Today, Meg shares what she saw, felt, and went through with her husband and friends as they raced to fight the fire, save their livestock, and protect their homes.
With a life-altering experience like this, we wanted to reflect on the power of prayer, disaster preparedness, and believing in the good of people. Meg will also share recovery efforts and what’s next. This episode can help drive action to make a plan with your family for priorities and steps to take in the event of a disaster. I can’t think of any better September discussion than to talk about meals in your fall routine. In today’s episode, Kaylee Stevie joins me for a conversation about meal planning. I am personally not great at it, and I wanted to bring Kaylee on to help with tips for prepping and planning your meals.
Kaylee homeschools and helps manage her and her husband’s direct-to-consumer beef sales business. She taught herself how to cook and started posting her creations on Instagram. She wants to help take the guesswork out of meal planning and offers a monthly subscription to meal planning ideas. Kaylee strives to take the guesswork out of meal planning and can help you become more efficient when building this routine.
Her tips include starting small with just a few days a week and including your family in meal ideas to ensure everyone is included. I'll dive into how meaningful connections are, how cultivating consistency is key in life, and how important YOU are to you. Connection is your responsibility; how are you achieving connections in your life?
I'm sharing a few studies about how keeping consistent routines helps to increase happiness. What is keeping you from being consistent? What is the fuel in your tank? What is motivating you? I hope August has been treating you kindly so far! In today's episode, I'm talking about something that is top-of-mind for me right now. I've dedicated the month of August to transitioning. For me and our methodology inside the membership, fall is a season of progress. September can be a time for burnout and checking in with yourself.
This is an action-oriented episode today. We're taking inventory of our environments and collecting data so we can make the next best decision. I'll guide you through an exercise that asks you to list ten spaces you spend the most time in.
Then, you'll choose the top three that have the biggest impact on your time and list what you do in these spaces and how each space makes you feel. Next, you'll map out what you need to do to feel how you'd like and schedule a specific time on your calendar to make the necessary changes to reach that goal. We're cleaning up your environments to help you keep reaching goals with ease while feeling supported.

It's time for a reset! It's August, and we're coming off a great summer and transitioning into a new season. In today's episode, I'm walking you through a reset you can develop into a ritual. The exercises I share in this episode come from our Ready.Set.Reset Workbook (linked below). The purpose of this reset is to get you out of survival, stress, overwhelm, and anxiety and get you into action.
This reset helps set the tone for when you're ready to map out your month. We'll work on how you want to feel, the things you have to change in order to feel that way, the thoughts causing you stress, what you need to release, and how to rate task priority and importance.
This reset will leave you feeling empowered and equipped to handle tomorrow.

Nobody panic, but we’re almost through July! It’s the perfect time for this powerful conversation I had with Dakota Dawn Johnson in today’s episode. We’re talking about navigating our own expectations, and I want to encourage you to have this same conversation with the people in your life. What are your expectations for yourself?
Dakota shares that while she’s always thinking about cowboys, kids, cattle, etc., she has to remind herself that we all have different buckets we’re navigating. She shares a visual of Dusti Crain-Dickerson while Roman Riding and how she’s in control and has the reins. So do we. We can change direction or expectations at any time.
We talk about how saying “no” isn’t necessarily a hard no, but rather, you’re finding the right “yes” that fits with the season of life you’re in right now. Dakota shares a personal and recent story that shows how she went from responding “yes” on the spot to giving herself the space to be more intentional with her time. You can learn to say “no” to something but “yes” in other ways.
Getting clear on your priorities so you know what the best things to say “no” and “yes” to are is important and will always be a work in progress for us all. When you choose to change expectations, different opportunities can arise.

Meg Scales is back for a conversation filled with life updates ranging from hay season and summer chaos to vulnerability about today’s topic. This episode is the next step in the conversation about quitting that we had a few weeks ago on the podcast. We know how we feel about quitting; the next questions are: What do success and accomplishment mean to us? And how have they changed in different seasons of life?
Looking back at our younger years, we had different ideas, goals, and capacities of what accomplishment and success looked like, but they have shifted and grown as we have done the same. As we check in with ourselves, we don’t need to move forward with old narratives; everything can pivot as we experience more in life.
Meg shares how academic drive was always a marker of success to her, but it’s now shifted to a curiosity for knowledge that helps her continue to grow. I share how, in a past season of life, being a CEO by 29 meant success. My definition of success was informed by my deep need for validation. Now, success means I want to feel contentment in the pursuit instead of assuming that the contentment will come from attainment.

We talk a lot about doing more of what matters in our planning. We look at what we have the capacity for, and we improve the way we do things. But what we omit during planning is looking at the things not getting done. Today's episode is about finding peace with the things we aren't doing. It's just as important to recognize them as the things we are getting done.
I'll cover the two ways we don't get things done: on purpose and off purpose. On purpose is what we are choosing not to do. That entails intentionality and deliberate choices. Off purpose is when those things slip through the cracks, get buried, or we simply don't have the time or capacity to complete them.
I encourage you to start making more margin and space to do what matters, which means we can look at what we haven't gotten done with some grace and perspective to make peace with it all. It doesn't mean we are good with not getting things done; it just means we're more present and grounded in the things we are getting done.

Happy July! I love the first week of July, and it has me thinking more about using this summer season for priming, taking care of ourselves, being deliberate, and being present. I want us to take this season to set ourselves up for success. One reason I believe we all hit roadblocks in being successful is that we don't take the time to really look at ourselves, at what we're doing, and take inventory of what's going on in our lives.
In this episode, I'm sharing tips and prompts to get you focused on figuring out who you are and determining if everything you're doing in your life aligns with who you are. Taking this deep dive into assessing your life is something you can develop into a daily practice. I want to encourage you to take this week to be super curious about yourself. Use the prompts I share to look at what you're doing daily, figure out why you are doing those things, and what really matters.
Our priorities compete for attention, and a lot of them are equally important. Let's figure out what energizes you, motivates you, drives you. This will set us up for success as we continue the backside of 2024. A tool to help you with just that is our Set the Tone workbook, link below!

Today’s episode is a little different, but I know you’ll enjoy it! As we are winding down June, I wanted to check in with you and make sure you’re prioritizing the foundation of core care. While it can seem overwhelming to take care of yourself, I encourage you to choose just one thing to work on to improve your well-being. Breathwork is a great practice that will give you intentionality and presence.
In this episode, I’m sharing a recorded session with Kelsey Larson, a breathwork expert, held in our Cowgirls Over Coffee membership earlier this month. Kelsey teaches different techniques to use as you introduce your body, mind, and soul to breathwork. She shares ideas for both you and your children to help regulate the nervous system.
