Doireann Ní Ghlacháin is a fiddle player, broadcaster, co-host of the How to Gael podcast, and holder of a PHD in Oral Irish Poetry. She's also really sound and fun to chat to, so I thought what better on the Friday before Christmas than to hear from her about some of Ireland's cultural traditions at this time of year and where they came from. I massively enjoyed this chat which includes many tangents, including lots of discussion of our relationship with the Irish language, and I hope you do too.

I was delighted to catch up with actor Erica Roe this week in the Project Arts Centre where she's in It's Always Your Bleedin' Own, a new show by Thommas Kane Byrne. Erica is an incredible actor, who you may know from Deadly Cuts, and I loved discussing the challenges of being an actor and her thoughts on how being working class has impacted her career.

Whenever I think we need clarity and guidance, I reach out to Sinead O'Carroll, editor of TheJournal.ie, and as this is the last Friday episode before the election I thought there was no better time than now! Sinead takes us through the election promises being made, and how to figure out who you align with before we vote next Friday.

As you know, our election is just a couple of weeks away, so I thought it would be appropriate to focus the next couple of Friday episodes to be dedicated to election issues. I'm hoping that the more information you have, the more empowered you'll feel in the voting booth. Dr. Loran Sirr, today's guest, is an expert in housing and I never come away from a conversation with him without feeling like I've learned loads. In this episode he helps us understand how we got to the crisis point we find ourselves and what the current politiacl parties have to offer.

This week I chatted to Aoife Cassidy McMenamin of Education Equality Ireland about their campaign to remove religious instruction from schools. As you probably know, many Irish families have no choice but to send their children to Catholic schools, and this is having a significant impact on children's education. Aoife tells us about the efforts being made to change that.
