Welcome to our Pride Month double feature! We read two books this month: Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall.
If you're looking for a cute, cozy MLM story, Boyfriend Material is the perfect choice. This book was witty and charming, and even has two sequels if you can't get enough. What could be better than two hot British guys fake dating each other?!
If you prefer your love stories to have a side of historical fiction, adventure, and gut-wrenching life-or-death moments, Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid will be more your speed. This might be the most weāve ever disagreed on anything weāve watched or read...
Thanks for listening, and let us know what books you'd like us to review next!

Welcome back to Call Me When They Kiss!Today we reviewed another Netflix Original, which as we all know, could be very hit or miss. We were certainly apprehensive after Office Romance. We went into Voicemails for Isabelle with medium expectations, and were pleasantly surprised by how much we loved it! This RomCom had heart, humor, and a hot, steamy make-out -- a simple formula that for some reason, has been hard for writers to nail lately! Before we dive into the movie, we briefly discuss the Icebreaker announcement -- another hockey romance that has been picked up by Netflix for an adaptation. We also share a couple Love Island thoughts and opinions. If you're watching Love Island too, let us know in the comments if you love Brinity as much as we do. 3Thank you for listening! If you enjoy the episode, please leave us a 5-star rating and a review. :)

This week, weāre reviewing the new romance series, Every Year After, based on Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. With the series coming out on Prime following the success of The Summer I Turned Pretty and Off Campus, we had high hopes, but ultimately, we were left disappointed.
BUT before we share all of our candid thoughts, we have to talk about THAT behind-the-scenes photo from Beach Read, Emily Henry's new book announcement, and everything happening on Love Island USA.
If you want to skip straight to our review of Every Year After, head to the 19-minute mark.
In this episode, we discuss:

This week, we watched Office Romance, Netflixās latest āromantic comedyā starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein. Brett, who also co-wrote the film, set out to "make an old-school rom-com" ... but did he actually accomplish his goal? We let you know what we think.
Before we dive into the movie, we kick things off with our Week 1 recap of Love Island USA, because there, OF COURSE, there's already plenty to discuss.
Then we get into our full review of Office Romance. We share what worked, what didnāt, and what we think a movie needs in order to earn āclassic rom-comā status. We discuss Jennifer Lopezās performance, her chemistry with Brett Goldstein, whether the romance itself actually worked, and the scenes that left us absolutely FLABBERGASTED.
Along the way, we end up having a bigger conversation about British vs. American rom-coms, differences in humor, and whether men and women tend to approach romance stories differently. We also unpack the filmās mixed audience reception, and whether it successfully balances romance and comedy.
As always, we donāt hold back. Youāll hear our honest, unfiltered thoughts.
Come debrief with us and share your thoughts, too! Did Office Romance work for you?

We're kicking off Pride Month by sharing our thoughts on TWO rom-coms, AND we're joined by a very special guest! Rachel (aka our lesbian liaison) is one of my dearest friends, and we loved hearing her unique perspective.
We start our episode in classic CMWTK fashion by discussing Rachel's celebrity crushes and a cheerleader edition of kiss/marry/kill. And then we start our discussion on the iconic cult classic, "But I'm a Cheerleader".
We cover topics such as:
What emotions did the movie evoke while watching?
What makes the movie so funny/campy?
What elements were more difficult to see on screen?
Was the romance able to stand out and still feel heartfelt in the center of a satire film?
The film's impact on LGBTQ+ representation
Rachel's personal experience coming out
Other queer media recommendations
Then we shift the focus to "The Broken Hearts Club" and how the optimistic, character-driven, gay story was so unique for it's time.

Today we went back in time to a classic movie that would become the blueprint for many romcoms to come! This was Audrey Hepburn's first major American film, and there's no question whether she deserves her icon status after seeing how charming and wonderful she is in Roman Holiday. We also loved Gregory Peck and will be searching for some TikTok edits of him immediately.
Some other topics we cover in this episode:
- Residual thoughts on Off Campus
- Is Adam Driver conventionally or unconventionally attractive?
- Which movie is better: It Happened One Night (1934) or Roman Holiday (1953)?
As always, thank you for listening and don't forget to leave us a rating! You can follow us @callmewhentheykiss on Instagram and TikTok!

For Mayās bonus book episode, we're excited to share all our thoughts on Seven Days in June by Tia Williams. But first, we discuss the latest book and TV adaptation news. Then we give a brief synopsis (spoiler warning!), before talking through what we loved most, as well as what strayed from our personal preferences.
We were also excited to learn that this book is currently being adapted into a TV series, so consider this your sign to read it before it comes out! This book immediately hooks your attention, and it keeps you engaged through its exploration of heavy themes and emotional flashbacks.
The marketing describes this story as a āsexyā second-chance romance about a couple reuniting 15 years after a passionate seven days togetherā¦and while that may sound lighthearted, this story is anything but (and that's not a bad thing!). It offers representation that isnāt often seen in mainstream romance, and while itās not as steamy or "fun" as our typical reads, it shares an important message and leaves you thinking about what love can endure.

Off Campus is the MOST WATCHED show on Amazon Prime Video, and we understand why!
Is it a little bit cringey at times? Well, sure, itās a show about college students. But honestly, that makes it feel more realistic because *we* were cringey in college too. And more importantly, itās sexy, fun, and surprisingly thoughtful in the way it handles its heavier themes.
We start off by sharing some of the upcoming June romance releases, and then we dive deep into our thoughts on Off Campus.
From the acting and the characters, to the important conversations around consent and THAT locker room scene, we donāt leave anything untouched.
And donāt forget to stay until the end to hear our favorite books and movies with the fake dating/deal trope.

Today is a very special episode because we have our first ever guests joining us! Parker Martin and Kylan Merrill (AKA, the Gay Correspondents of CMWTK) are here to talk about Brokeback Mountain, the "gay cowboy movie" that did what very few queer movies had ever done before it: enter the mainstream.
This was the first time either Sydney or I had ever seen the movie, and we were blown away by how much more there was to it than "gay cowboys."
We're so grateful for Parker and Kylan for being willing to share their insights, and for indulging us in what is becoming a CMWTK staple: a game of Kiss/Marry/Kill.
Since this was our first time having guests, we did experience a few technical difficulties, so the audio might not sound as good as it usually does. Thank you for listening anyway and we hope you enjoy the episode!

Today we review the much-anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2! Surprisingly, (or unsurprisingly?) Isa had never even seen the first one, so obviously she had to remedy that.
As with all sequels, there were things to love and things that fell flat. The magic of the first one couldn't quite be recaptured. But of course we had a fabulous time seeing another girl movie in the theaters.
In this episode, we also briefly share our thoughts on the 2026 Met Gala and some TSITP movie news, as well as fill you in on our weekend together in Boise, Idaho.
As always, thank you for listening! Join us next week for our Brokeback Mountain episode featuring our first ever guests!

This episode is *extra* special because itās Isaās BIRTHDAY EPISODE! And to celebrate, weāre reviewing THE BEST ROM-COM OF ALL TIME.
10 Things I Hate About You is iconic for all the right reasons. The cultural impact. The humor. Heath. Ledger.
We discuss the movieās Shakespearean origins, the best and worst characters, its themes that were so ahead of their time, and everything in between.
Our ratings? 5 stars across the board. Basically, weāre just gushing about this film the entire episode.

This month we read the newest release from one of our favorite contemporary romance authors, Abby Jimenez! "The Night We Met" is a sloooowww burn, which is actually what we prefer. We were skeptical though when Abby announced that it involved the FMC getting together with her "boyfriend's best friend." However, we were pleasantly surprised by how well the story was executed. As usual, Abby Jimenez covers a lot of sensitive topics in this story, which we felt were handled with care.
Before we dive into our review of the book, we also share our thoughts on the SLOMW OC spin-off, some BookTok/Bookstagram drama, and an upcoming romance book release that we are looking forward to.
Thank you for listening and let us know what you thought of "The Night We Met"!

This week we're throwing it back to the 1980s with a lesser-known John Hughes movie, 'Some Kind of Wonderful'. Watts is the ultimate cool girl, Amanda Jones "is sex", and Keith...well he's just plain dumb. But we root for him because we root for Watts. We'll get into that on the pod...From script vs storytelling, to themes and characters, we discuss how it all impacts our overall reception of the movie.
But it's not a CMWTK episode without some rants on the latest pop culture news. Patrick Schwarzenegger has been cast as Gus in the latest Emily Henry adaptation, Beach Read, and we have some thoughtssssss. We also discuss the downfall of male pop stars, Hamilton?, and and the female gaze.
All around a good time (;

Feeling blessed because we just watched a romcom at the movie theater!
You, Me, and Tuscany was a romcom through-and-through, and it hit all of its marks in the cutest, most nostalgic ways.
We talk through everything from the chemistry between Halle Bailey and Rege-Jean Page, to the crazy shenanigans that ensue in front of the beautiful backdrop that is Italy.
One thing we're passionate about is romance movies being in theaters, so we discuss why this movie received a theatrical release as opposed to some other recent romance movies.
Before we dive into the movie, we briefly share some other pop culture thoughts. We've got more to say about Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, more to say about the 13 Going on 30 reboot, and a LOT to say about the concept of "doom-roms," romance movies with darker, more cynical tones.
Let us know in the comments what you thought about You, Me, and Tuscany! Join us next week when throw it back to the 80s for "Some Kind of Wonderful." And don't forget to like, share, follow, and subscribe! Thanks for listening!

Is Ryan Murphy's "Love Story" worth watching? Is the story of JFK Jr and Carolyn Bassette even a love story? Or simply a tragedy? We answer all of these questions in this weeks episode of CMWTK.
While the show wasn't our favorite, we were SO fascinated by the story. Using history and gossip from the 1990s, we try to make sense of it all and discuss the media frenzy around them, their complicated relationship and dating histories, as well as the supposed āKennedy Curseā. Who were these people really? Maybe we'll never know.
As always, we leave you with our overall ratings of the show and if you should watch it or skip it.

Itās the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana, so you already know we had to do a special Miley Cyrus episodeā¦in Hannah and Lola wigs, of course!
We kick things off with a little reality TV catch-up because these SLOMW women donāt rest. Weāre sharing our thoughts on the future of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, The Bachelorette, and reality TV in general.
Then we get into the heart of the episode with our full review of The Last Song. The nostalgia was STRONG with this one. That discussion naturally turns into a deep dive on Miley Cyrus, including her relationship timeline with Liam Hemsworth, her career, and who sheās become today.
From there, we fully lean into her Disney Channel era. We donāt hold back from voicing our opinionsāfrom reviewing Hannah Montana: The Movie and raving about the cultural impact Miley had, to sharing who we think should be on the Disney Channel āMount Rushmoreā and who the most impactful Disney stars have been.
Itās fun, nostalgic, and full of our love for her legacy š
