  • On this episode of the Cabin Culture podcast we get to chat with Emily Padan from hinter. Emily, along with her husband Mauricio, started and run this incredible cabin company based out of Montreal, Canada. It all began with Mauricio’s first cabin, which found immediate success once they began hosting and sharing it with others. From there they began to dream a little bigger, and think about how to create more experiences similar to this one, to allow others to really experience the impact of slowing life down and spending time in nature. Since then they’ve built several more cabins, and host other cabins under their brand. What was most notable in talking to Emily was her crystal clear focus on their brand, what it represents, and how to consistently communicate it via their website, copy and imagery. Because this is a particularly daunting challenge for a lot of cabin owners, Emily has a ton of wisdom to share on how you can reflect on your own brand, and start consistently communicating it to future and past guests. Let’s do it!

  • This episode is a love story. An interesting one, but a love story nonetheless. Amanda is a fascinating guest, who played D1 basketball, taught PE for over 10 years, founded a dating app, met her future business partner on IG, and then moved to a small town in Wyoming to renovate an old motel. What might have begun as a great investment opportunity turned into a love affair with the town of Greybull, the people and community there, and with renovation. Plus she’s documented it all online, with literally a reel a day since she started renovating showing everything she’s doing, totally solo! I’ll admit, this episode is less about cabins specifically, and more an excuse for me to talk to the human behind one of my favorite IG accounts on the internet (@justdoitamanda), but I will say I think you all are going to enjoy it just as much as I did, and learn a ton along the way. I’m so excited for you to meet Amanda (if you don’t know her already), and live vicariously through her bold, ambitious, and inspiring adventure.

  • Susan and Boris, founders of Lumen Camps, share their journey from a honeymoon road trip to building a successful hospitality brand. They started with a 20-year-old Land Cruiser and a rooftop tent, traveling from Boston to Argentina, and documenting their adventures along the way. When they returned, they decided to explore the short-term rental industry and began with one property. As their rental properties grew, they were forced to focus on automation and building a remote team in order to manage them all successfully. While many of you only manage one property, thinking through efficiencies can be super helpful in not only making life easier but also improving guest experience.

The Lumen brand is their next venture, centered around connecting with nature and finding happiness in simple experiences. Susan and Boris acquired a campground surrounded by water on three sides and transformed it into Lumen, a unique glamping destination with a combination of glamping tents, small cabins, and the nicest campground bathroom I've ever seen in my life. Join us to hear about how it came to be, how they've grown it, and how they've created a unique camping experience for folks escaping the craziness of city, and everyday, life.
