Successful implant outcomes begins at the moment of tooth extraction. In this expert conversation, implant surgeon and researcher Larissa Steigmann explains why socket management and alveolar ridge preservation are essential for long term implant stability and predictable aesthetic outcomes.
The discussion explores a practical structured socket classification and decision-making approach, that helps clinicians diagnose extraction sockets and choose the appropriate treatment strategy. From intact sockets to severely compromised sites, the session covers how clinicians can combine biomaterials to preserve bone volume and support future implant placement.
Key clinical topics include ridge preservation protocols, the role of volume stable bone grafts such as cerabone, and how barrier solutions like permamem and the magnesium based membrane, the NOVAMag SHIELD can support predictable bone regeneration in compromised sockets.
The conversation also highlights the potential of advancing regenerative dentistry through the use of SHIELD in compromised sockets in conjunction with immediate implant placement.

In this second episode of the podcast on “Excellence in Grafting”, Dr. Hassan Maghaireh will address the technique of block augmentation for the treatment of complex bone defects, while placing particular emphasis on the question of soft tissue management and the use of soft tissue grafts.
He will furthermore discuss the choice of the right barrier membrane based on the clinical situation and the objective of the treatment. -
Nowadays, clinicians have access to a wide spectrum of different bone grafting materials. Making the right choice among synthetic, bovine or allogenic bone has a significant impact on the result and success of each individual clinical case.
Dr. Hassan Maghaireh from the UK is a leading expert in the field of hard and soft tissue regeneration and head of the scientific committee at the British Academy of Implant and Restorative Dentistry.
In this podcast, he will share his broad experience in bone augmentation with particular attention to the biological behavior of each different category of grafting material. -
Dr. Frank Kloss from Austria is a an expert on the topic of block augmentation. In his many years of work as a maxillofacial surgeon he has not only gathered extensive clinical experience on this topic, but has also published various scientific papers and lectured at international events. In this episode of the botiss podcast he will share his experience on maxgraft® blocks and the maxgraft® bonebuilder, a customized allogenic bone block.

When it comes to bone augmentation, collagen membranes have traditionally been dominating the scene. Nevertheless, certain clinical situations require an alternative to this well-established standard. Additionally, social trends such as vegetarianism and veganism have strengthened the tendency to use materials that are not of animal origin. botiss has therefore developed a synthetic alternative. In this podcast, Dr. Sascha Böhm, who was involved in the development of permamem®, will give some valuable insights into this unique product and its clinical applications.

The selection of the hard and soft tissue substitute – as well as its correct clinical management – plays a crucial role in surgical success.
botiss biomaterials provide a number of solutions that allow to avoid or limit the use of autologous tissue in periodontal and peri-implant hard and soft tissue augmentation procedures.
In this podcast, internationally renowned Dr. Martina Stefanini, of the research group of Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli (University of Bologna, Italy), will outline the aspects that the surgeon must consider and analyze when approaching biomaterial use in periodontal and peri-implant plastic surgery. -
Large bone defects tend to call for treatment options that go beyond the classical GBR concept. One of the methods used for complex 3-dimensional bone augmentations is the so-called shell technique. In this podcast, Dr. Peer Kämmerer from the University of Mainz will give some insights into the studies that he has conducted on the topic of bone regeneration, and share his extensive experience in the practical application of the shell technique.

Lisa Hoffmann is a biologist from Austria and has been working at botiss for more than 3 years as product manager for the maxgraft® bonebuilder. In this podcast she will give some exclusive insights about this unique biomaterial, including its origin, production and the biology behind it. In addition to the scientific background, she will also provide valuable hints and resources concerning its successful clinical use.
-
Goran Nikoloski leads a team of technical experts in Berlin who are responsible for the creation of custom-made allogenic bone blocks.
In this podcast he will outline every step of the making of the maxgraft® bonebuilder and give valuable practical tips for clinicians who are considering to use it for the first time. -
Dr. Sascha Böhm is the product manager of one of the most successful bone grafting materials in the world. In this podcast, he will give some rare insights into the scientific secrets behind the production process of cerabone®. Being a biologist, he will also explain the properties and reasons that lead to this biomaterial’s outstanding clinical performance, including its exceptional purity, ultimate stability and superior hydrophilicity.

This is the second episode of our podcast season on the development of maxgraft® bonering. Bernhard Giesenhagen is – together with Orcan Yüksel – the inventor of the allogenic Bone Ring Technique. They have developed a bone augmentation technique which allows implant placement and bone block augmentation in a single surgery.
Our colleague Nathalie Martin is talking with him about his long cooperation with botiss and how he came up with the idea of the technique. He has placed more than 1000 rings successfully and is eager to share his experiences with us. -
Biomaterials safety has always been a point of strength of botiss biomaterials. With the global spread of Covid-19, the question of virus-deactivation has become even more relevant.
In this podcast Dr. Benno Buchbinder, Managing Director at botiss, will give an insight into the production processes of the different biomaterials that botiss offers. In particular, he will describe in detail how scientifically proven processing methods are used to achieve maximum safety in the products of the botiss portfolio. -
While bone grafting has always been an important topic in implantology, the question of soft tissue management has gained particular attention in recent years.
