The right balance renews passion - Love Is Moving

  • In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna dives into the parable of the barren fig tree. Found in Luke 13:6-9, this short passage presents to us the story of a man who is frustrated when he doesn’t see the fruit of his labor.

    Sound familiar?

Similar to how the man felt, we may be prone to easily give up or be quick to assume our efforts are useless. By the end of this episode, Brenna hopes that listeners will decide if it’s wise to quit or continue their efforts.

    Scriptures Mentioned:

    Luke 13:6-9 Hebrews 11:1 Psalm 128: 1-2 John 15:1-7 2 Corinthians 5:7 Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 Ecclesiastes 2:24-25 Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 1 Corinthians 3:7

    Self-Reflection Questions:

    1. How often am I disappointed when I don’t see the development and/or advancement from what I want I’ve put my time and efforts into? How do I overcome these feelings of disappointment when I don’t see anything happening?

    2. It helps to have another helping hand with achieving our goals, whether it’s a project, a dream, or any kind of growth in our lives. Just as the gardener was the helper of this man’s project, who in my life supports me? How does God support me?

    3. How does waiting test my patience/trust in the Lord for His intervention? How is waiting beneficial for my own growth?

    4. Why is it important for us to continue working while we wait?

    5. How do I know if it’s the appropriate time to cut the tree down or to give my efforts one more chance. Are there any examples in my life where God has commanded me to continue or to discontinue my efforts with something?

    6. What is the barren fig tree in my currently? Write down your specific goals, projects, dreams, and/or fruits you are waiting to see grow.

  • In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna dives into the seven ways listeners can seek God.

Often, it’s easy to feel frustrated and discouraged when we feel that God cannot be found. Yet through Scripture, He reminds us that He would not have told His people to seekHim if He couldn’t be. That leads us to the question of, “So why can we not find Him?” The answer might be that we don’t know how to approach the Lord in a genuine and/or God-focused manner.

By the end of this episode, Brenna hopes that listeners will know how to reach the Lord effectively. Whatever our hindrance may be in finding Him, the Lord reminds us that He can be found, and He isn’t far from His people.

    Scriptures Mentioned:

    Isaiah 45:19 John 3:30 Hebrews 10:22 Psalm 63:1 Deuteronomy 4:29 Jeremiah 29:13 Hebrews 11:6 Proverbs 8:17 Psalm 143:8 Psalm 5:3 Psalm 63:1 Mark 1:35 1 Chronicles 16:11 Matthew 6:33 Isaiah 44:6 Isaiah 55:6 Luke 13:22-29 Psalm 34:10 2 Chronicles 6:18 Psalm 139:7

    Self-Reflection Questions:

Why have I failed to find/meet God previously? What obstacles do I think were in my way? How do I feel when I believe that God cannot be found? Do I continue to try to find Him or give up in frustration? Have I ever tried to seek Him in ways that were unhealthy, demanding, and or/self-centered? How do I authentically seek God’s presence sincerely, earnestly, whole-heartedly, diligently, early, continually, and firstly in my daily life? Do I miss Him when I don’t seek Him often? How do I feel when I don’t have time together with Him? Am I ready to put the Lord first once I find Him? Am I able to put Him above myself?

How can I commit to God this year?

How can I commit to others this year?

How can I commit to myself this year?

With sharing her own commitments upon entering 2025, Brenna hopes listeners can have a successful and reflective new year.

    Scriptures Mentioned:

    1 Corinthians 13:11-12 Proverbs 4:25-27 Romans 14:12 Matthew 5:37 Romans 5:1-5

    Self-Reflection Questions:

What are the commitments/goals I’ve met/achieved last year that I’m continuing to do in my day-to-day currently? What commitments/goals have I failed to meet within the previous year? What prevented me from achieving these things? What were my own errors? How can I give myself grace when I fall short or don’t meet my own expectations? Which commitment/goals do I want to keep, and which goals do want to trash? Which commitments/goals were more important than others? Are there any goals I’ve outgrown? Where in my life do I need to give God recognition and glory for my growth, maturity, and progress? What do I currently need His help most in? Are there any bad habits, hurts, and hangups I need help moving forward andhealing from? Now that I’ve helped myself, how can I extend my time, energy, talents, and help others?

Oftentimes, giving to others is the best way to spread the love of Jesus here on earth. • In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna discusses how the virtues and standards of a Proverbs 31 woman are not acquired once a woman becomes a wife. Rather, these virtues start before a serious relationship and are developed over time. Whether or not we want to be wives in the future, we must first be virtuous and capable women of God where we’re at now.

Brenna challenges her listeners to ask themselves this big question: Do you meet your own standards as a Proverbs 31 woman?

    Scriptures Mentioned:

    Proverbs 31:10-31 Galatians 5:22-25 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

    Self-Reflection Questions:

What standards do I want to set for myself having while both single and in a serious relationship? Which traits, characteristics, and strengths can I better work on in myself that I want to better develop over time? What do I need to be grounded in, rooted in, and doing continually that’s beneficial to my maturity and growth as a woman? What habits do I need to keep in order to meet my own standards? Who in the Bible is a great example of a Proverbs 31 woman? Name 1-3 women and write down what makes them known as virtuous and capable. According to Galatians 5:22-25, what fruits of the Spirit do I think I need to work on? What fruits of the Spirit am I exhibiting well currently? According to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, how can I better love and serve others? What parts of this passage am I exhibiting well currently? What’s my standard/expectation for a future man? What values, characteristics, and habits do we need to have in common? How can I set aside the presumption/impression that a Proverbs 31 woman is a married woman? How can I remind myself that I am a woman who fears the Lord and has noble character no matter what stage of life I’m in?

Does God Really Know Me? Let’s Talk Fear of LosingSalvation, Spiritual Drift, and Living In Sin — Be In Not Of

  • Episode Description:
In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna reads Scripture from the book of Joel. Although Joel consists of three chapters, it touches on the importance of what true repentance looks like.
As we learn from today’s episode, repentance is
more than asking for forgiveness. It’s also ensuring that our sin is corrected in the future.
Correcting our sin means changing our minds about our sin. Yes, we should acknowledge the repercussions of our sin and ask for forgiveness, but the whole point is to change our mind about our sin. Once our mind is changed, our actions change.

    Memory Verse:
Joel 2:12-13: “That is why the Lord says, ‘Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief but tear your hearts instead. Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.’”

    Study Questions:

    • Are there any cross-reference verses related to
other verses throughout Scripture? Do certain verses make you think of other Scriptures throughout the Bible? If so, what are they?
    • What are some words you don’t know the definitions
    of? Look them up.
    • Who did God call out in the book of Joel?
    • What were the recipients of God’s warning told to do
    in response to this warning/message?

  • In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna teaches a message focused on the human heart. Using the book of Psalms as her reference, she compares the differences between the wicked heart from the good heart. Based on her findings, she highlights the fact that the heart impacts all we do. This includes how we treat others, how we see ourselves, and most importantly, how we view God.

Reviewing the five lessons she learned during her own Bible study time, Brenna hopes listeners will better understand how God views our hearts and note how our actions are impacted by them.

    Self-Reflection Questions:

How does God respond to the human heart? What’s the difference between a believer’s heart versus a nonbeliever’s heart? Or from the wicked of heart versus the pure of heart? How does grief, anger, hate, joy (etc.) affect the condition of the human heart? How can we guard our hearts against the negative things that impact our well-being? How do the conditions of our hearts impact our thoughts, actions, desires, and words? What is the condition of my heart currently? What has this episode taught me about God’s own heart/insight about our hearts?

Does God Really Know Me? Let’s Talk Fear of Losing Salvation, Spiritual Drift, and Living In Sin — Be In Not Of

  • In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna discusses how the earthly, natural, and demonic seek to destroy our walk with the Lord. Inspired by Colossians 3:5-10, Brenna examines how we’re commanded to put an end to what’s earthly and evil within us. As Christians, we are instructed to put on our new nature that is found and created only in Christ.Following this main verse, Brenna uses Scripture references to support the truth of how these three sinful factors bring harm to our bodies, spirits, and minds, which are detrimental to our salvation.

The focus of this message is to reach the person who either excuses their sin or doesn’t really understand how it truly impacts them.

As Brenna says in her title, “Put to death what wants to E.N.D. you.”

  • Episode Description:
On this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna is joined by her teacher, mentor, and sister-in-Christ Angie Baughman. The two ladies met through Angie’s Steady On Internship program, and Brenna is currently under her wing as an editor for Angie’s own podcast. Together, they discuss how shame at any age cannot-and should not-stop us from serving the Lord.

Listeners will listen to Brenna and Angie dive deeper into the subjects of:
    · How shame tries to deter us from God’s plans
    · How to teach a community, inside and outside the church
    · How teaching others can break our ego of perfectionism
    · How rest and connection with God prevents burnout
    · Angie’s personal struggles and setbacks in serving others

Angie lives in Southern Illinois with her two sons and husband. She is the founder of Steady On Ministries and the creator of the Step-by-Step Bible Study Method. Listeners can find her with the following links:

Psalm 40:2 (NLT): "He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”

  • Episode Description:
In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna discusses why she no longer believes in ghosts. Today, she believes that demons pretend to be our deceased loved ones to fool us. In the book of Genesis, we learn that Satan led other angels against the Lord, so as their punishment, God sentenced them to earth. Instead of protecting God’s people and worshipping God as they were made to, they became God’s enemies. Since then, demons have watched humans, wanting nothing more than to deceive and destroy them. This includes confusing people and leading away from God's Truth.
In this episode, listeners will also learn:
    · The definitions of what a ghost and a spirit is
    · Why Brenna used to believe in ghosts and why she no longer does now
    · Scriptures to back up her five points

At the end of the day, we must know who God is to fully trust His Word. If we do not know who God is and trust who He says He is, we will be even more skeptical and unconvinced of the truth and totality of His Word. By not trusting or believing God and what He says to be true, we will be easily fooled by other teachings, concepts, and ideas. Overall, Brenna wants people to be informed on what Scriptures say and come to a conclusion themselves based on what the Word says.

  • In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna is speaking to the person who either who wants to die and/or to the person who questions the value of their life.
Oftentimes, it’s easy to ask God the questions of: “Why did You make me this way?”  “What worth in life do I have if I’m constantly targeted, unloved, and lost?”  “Why did my parents ever want me to live in this messed up world?” When we suffer, it’s easy to believe the lie that we want to die or have no real purpose. Yet, God views us in a way that brings beauty and hope to the everyday lives we live. To understand this, we must understand who God is.

    In this episode, Brenna covers:
    · Four Biblical/historical figures who learned how valuable their lives were despite hardships
    · The three C’s of who God is as our Creator, Caretaker, and Comforter
    · What the Bible says about our births and existence as God’s creations

Brenna hopes that today’s episode reassures listeners that they are precious to the Lord and help them know that their existence is not an accident on God’s part.

  • On this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna breaks down two Scriptures from John 14:27-29 and John 16:33, covering the topic of God’s peace. The three commonalities between the two verses involve the following categories: peace, Jesus, and the world.
The purpose of this episode is to remind listeners of the following:
•Though we will have many trials and sorrows here on earth, we should be encouraged because Jesus will return.
•The Holy Spirit is the ultimate gift, because He guarantees our minds and hearts peace even when the world persecutes, fails, or tries us.
•The Holy Spirit’s power of peace does not depend on our feelings, flesh, or our level of difficulties, and this peace surpasses our understanding.
•The Holy Spirit is Christ’s Representative and the Advocate/Helper for God’s people.

Overall, Brenna wants her audience to remember where their peace comes from, and that’s from the Holy Spirit.

Bryson is nineteen years old, a college student, and going to school to become a pastor. At just fourteen years old, he felt the Lord call him into ministry. In 2021, God confirmed this calling over Bryson’s life when he attended a young adult conference called Awaken in Dallas, PA. This event strengthened his walk with the Lord and his ability to teach. Since then, Bryson has matured in his gifts of public speaking and evangelizing to both older and younger generations.

  • In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna uses Angie Baughman’s “Step By Step Bible Study Method” to discuss and break down the word “obedience.”

Using Scriptures to present both the rewards of obedience and the repercussions of disobedience, Brenna highlights the necessity of this discipline in one’s relationship with the Lord. Though it is not always fun or enjoyable of a decision to make, God rewards and blesses those who are willing to listen, and He promises us a peace that surpasses our own understanding.

The purpose of this episode is to remind listeners that they must make the conscious decision to obey Him to receive the promise He has for them.
