  • In this solo episode of Lead with the Enneagram I dive into the significance of birthdays and self-celebration, particularly how my own upbringing shaped my reluctance to embrace such personal milestones.

I recount the stories of my birth and the mixed messages I received, which led to a lifelong journey of striving for perfection and approval, especially from my father. These narratives, while humorous in retrospect, left a profound impact on my self-perception and the way I viewed my own worth.

Despite the challenges, I've come to recognize the importance of celebrating oneself and the journey we've all undertaken. I discuss the power of the Enneagram as a tool for personal growth and self-discovery, likening it to a navigation system that has helped me map out my life and guide others in their journeys.

As I reflect on my life's path, I emphasize the value of understanding our biology and biography, recognizing patterns, and embracing every part of our journey. I encourage listeners to be honest, open, and willing as they step into their roles as legendary leaders.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my insights and experiences through the podcast and for the impact it has on listeners. As I celebrate another year of life, I reaffirm my commitment to helping others become the legendary leaders they were born to be.

Thank you for joining me on this special day and for allowing me to be a part of your journey toward embracing your true self.

  • Our special guest, Tonya Raybon, joins us to discuss her experience with the Enneagram. Tonya has worked extensively with me, participating in retreats, one-on-one sessions, and couple's workshops. She shares her insights as a social Enneagram Type 2, also known as "The Helper," and we explore the nuances of her tri-type, 2-6-8, which is referred to as "The Rescuer."

Throughout the episode, we tackle the challenges of setting boundaries, especially for Enneagram Type 2s who are naturally inclined to say "yes" and accommodate others. We emphasize the importance of pausing before committing to tasks and asking oneself if the action would still be a "yes" even without external appreciation or reciprocation.

Tonya and I also discuss strategies for understanding and interacting with loved ones through the lens of the Enneagram. We highlight the significance of the three centers of intelligence (instinctual, feeling, and thinking) and how recognizing these can improve communication and relationships within families, including with children and grandchildren.

Finally, we touch on Tonya's podcast, "Perfectly Blended," which focuses on the complexities of blended family life and the continuous blending of roles that women often navigate.

  • In this special hotline episode of Lead with the Enneagram, we had the pleasure of speaking with Julie A, a one-on-one Enneagram 9 with a 935 tri-type, also known as the thinker. Julie shared her journey of self-discovery through the Enneagram and how it has impacted her both personally and professionally as a leadership and career coach at a high-level university in Chicago.

We delved into the nuances of being an Enneagram 9, discussing the core emotion of anger and how it often manifests in passive-aggressive behaviors like avoidance and procrastination. Julie opened up about her challenges with confronting anger and conflict, and we explored strategies for nines to develop a healthier relationship with these emotions.

Julie also touched on her experience of grief and how it has led to feelings of sloth, a common struggle for Enneagram 9s when they are disintegrating. We discussed the importance of contrary action and how leveraging the strengths of her one and eight wings can help her navigate through tough times without getting stuck.

A significant revelation for Julie was understanding that her core motivator is freedom, not safety, which she had previously believed. This insight has prompted her to reflect on her career choices and how they align with her need for independence, autonomy, and control.

Lastly, we unpacked Julie's tri-type, the thinker (935), which combines the ambition of a three, the knowledge-seeking nature of a five, and the peacemaking qualities of a nine. This tri-type explains Julie's intellectual approach and her ability to manage situations and relationships effectively.
Throughout the episode, we emphasized the importance of self-awareness and the use of the Enneagram as a tool for personal growth. By understanding our core fears and motives, and by building the muscles of our supporting cast – our wings and growth/stress numbers – we can navigate life's challenges with grace and resilience.

For those looking to understand and support an Enneagram 9 in their life, remember to gently probe beyond their initial "I'm fine" response to truly understand their feelings. And for anyone interested in diving deeper into their Enneagram blueprint, I encourage you to visit my website and explore the resources available.

  • In this latest episode of "Lead with the Enneagram," I discuss the common trap of accumulating knowledge, attending events, and seeking more strategies without making real progress. I emphasize that while these activities are valuable, they may not always lead to the growth we seek. I challenge listeners to consider what the "next brave thing" is for them, which can be a deeply personal and vulnerable step.

Using the Enneagram as a tool, I encourage you to identify your fears and take action that aligns with your type's unique path to growth. I confess my own struggles with vulnerability and share a personal commitment to send an email I've been avoiding, demonstrating the importance of integrity and leading by example.

  • In this latest episode of Lead with the Enneagram, I open up about a recent self-awareness realization I had during a mastermind event involving a racetrack challenge. Despite my confidence and expertise in self-awareness, I noticed a pattern of self-sabotage when the focus was solely on me, rather than on a team or others. This led to a vulnerable moment where I recognized the importance of not just being self-aware but also taking compassionate, effective action to create real change.

I emphasize that self-awareness is only a piece of the puzzle and that understanding your Enneagram type is not enough. It's about what you do with that knowledge that counts. I encourage listeners to move beyond passive awareness and take active steps towards transformation.

For those looking to deepen their Enneagram work and take actionable steps, I have a few spots open for one-on-one coaching, including 90-minute power sessions and three-month VIP coaching.

  • This week, we took a deep dive into the heart of entrepreneurship and the importance of playing the long game. I had the pleasure of chatting with my dear friend and business consultant coach, Jason Lew, who brought a wealth of knowledge and integrity to our candid conversation.

We tackled the often grueling reality of showing up on social media and the pressure to constantly feed the content monster. Jason and I discussed the temptation to chase quick wins and how it can lead us to forget that entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. We explored the significance of staying true to ourselves and our values to create lasting transformation and the life we desire.

In a world obsessed with the Enneagram, I also shared my initial skepticism about this tool and how, over a decade later, it has profoundly impacted my life and work. From personal growth to building bulletproof leadership and sales teams, the Enneagram has been a game-changer. And while we didn't focus on the Enneagram much in this episode, the underlying principles of authenticity and self-awareness were ever-present.

Jason's insights into building a sustainable business without being a slave to social media algorithms were eye-opening. He emphasized the importance of nurturing relationships with potential clients over time and creating a business that aligns with who we are at our core.

  • In this episode of "Lead with the Enneagram," we're tackling the big question: What are you willing to lose to achieve what you want? It's about discerning true desires from shiny distractions and understanding the sacrifices necessary for authentic success.

I'll share my own journey of self-discovery, the tough choices I've made, and how the Enneagram has been a guiding light through it all. We'll discuss the importance of being transparent with ourselves, letting go of what no longer serves us, and embracing the discomfort that comes with growth.
And because I love to keep it real, I'll share a personal mishap from this morning that reminded me to maintain perspective. Plus, I'll read a poignant piece from "The Book of Awakening" that beautifully captures the essence of today's message.

So, if you're ready to get real about your big dreams and callings, and you're not afraid of a little tough love, this episode is for you.

  • In this episode, I take you on a journey through the complexities and transformative power of the Enneagram, especially focusing on Type 8's path to vulnerability and strength.

Today's episode is particularly special as we delve into the "hotline" segment where listeners, who've been accurately typed by me, get to ask deeper questions about their Enneagram journey. Our guest, Talia, a vibrant Enneagram 8 like myself, shares her experiences from participating in one of my immersive retreats. Despite her initial skepticism about her type, Talia's story is a testament to the power of the Enneagram in uncovering our true selves.

We explore the challenges eights face in relationships, particularly the struggle with vulnerability and the tendency to test our partners. Talia and I discuss the importance of letting go of control and allowing ourselves to be supported, a lesson that's crucial for eights who crave intimacy yet fear betrayal.

Diving into the "five cave" phenomenon, we talk about the Enneagram 8's stress response and how it can lead to isolation and a false sense of security. I share insights on how to navigate this space with compassion and use it as an opportunity for growth rather than a place to hide.

Lastly, we touch on the balance between masculine and feminine energies, emphasizing the strength that comes from embracing both. Talia's upcoming children's book, which encourages boys to express their emotions, beautifully illustrates this balance and the importance of emotional literacy for all genders.

If you're an Enneagram 8, love one, or simply want to understand the dance between vulnerability and strength, this episode is a must-listen. Join us as we unpack the layers of the Enneagram and learn to lead with authenticity and courage

  • Welcome to episode 400!!

Over the years, I've gone from being an Enneagram skeptic to integrating it deeply into my life and work. I've used it to build bulletproof leadership and sales teams, work with one-on-one clients, couples, and lead workshops for top executives around the world. The Enneagram has been a complex but powerful tool, and I'm here to guide you through it.

In this episode, I'll share personal stories and lessons learned throughout the journey of this podcast. From initially launching on New Year's Eve 2019 to navigating the changes the world has faced, including COVID and leadership shifts, it's been a wild ride.

I've celebrated personal milestones like falling in love after a seven-year sabbatical from dating, becoming an empty nester as my children have grown and built their own lives, and even going through painful friendship divorces. These experiences have taught me about growth, vulnerability, and staying true to oneself.

Professionally, I've had the honor of working with powerhouse companies like Google, Amazon, John Deere, YouTube, and Facebook. These opportunities have come because I've stayed true to my calling and worked tirelessly to serve others.Looking ahead, I feel a shakeup coming. There will be bold changes in how I show up online, the content of the podcast, and even possibly a new title. I'm in a cocoon phase, preparing for a transformation that will allow me to serve you with even more truth and guidance.

I'm grateful for each and every one of you who have joined me on this journey. Whether you've been here from the start or just found the podcast, know that I'm committed to nurturing, protecting, and guiding you through your own growth and transformation.

Here's to the next chapter, to episode 401 and beyond. I'm excited to continue this journey with you, sharing the messy, the miracles, and the magic of life through the lens of the Enneagram.

  • In this episode of Lead with the Enneagram, we dive into the transformative power of the Enneagram in team building, both in professional and personal spheres. As your host, Tracy, I share my journey from being an Enneagram skeptic to a passionate advocate, using it to foster bulletproof leadership and sales teams, and to facilitate workshops for Fortune 100 executives.

We discuss the critical importance of team culture and the necessity of investing in your teams, especially in today's climate of budget constraints and remote working. I emphasize that culture isn't just a part of the team dynamic; it is the team dynamic. The Enneagram serves as a shared language and framework that can lead to authentic engagement, job satisfaction, increased productivity, and retention.

Throughout the episode, I highlight common pitfalls in team building, such as a one-size-fits-all approach, and how the Enneagram can help tailor strategies to individual team members' needs. By understanding each person's core desires, fears, and motivators, leaders can create a work environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

I also touch on the importance of leaders setting the example and fostering a culture of understanding, respect, and personal growth. Using the Enneagram, leaders can better manage their teams, communicate effectively, and provide development opportunities that align with each team member's growth path.

For those interested in integrating the Enneagram into their teams, I offer workshops and consulting services to help customize the approach to your specific needs. Whether you're a seasoned entrepreneur or part of a corporate team, the Enneagram can be a game-changer in creating a harmonious and productive work environment.

  • In this episode of Lead with the Enneagram, we dive deep into the practical applications of the Enneagram, particularly focusing on Type 2, the Considerate Helper. Our guest, Tisha, shares her journey from skepticism to embracing the Enneagram as a powerful tool for self-discovery and growth.

    Key Takeaways:
Understanding Motivations: The Enneagram is more than a personality test; it's about understanding the 'why' behind our actions. For Type 2s, actions are often motivated by a desire for love and appreciation.Setting Boundaries: Type 2s tend to say 'yes' too quickly, leading to overcommitment. It's crucial for them to pause before agreeing to requests and consider if they would still say 'yes' without external validation.Navigating Relationships: Type 2s have a gift for intuitively understanding others' needs, but they must learn to communicate their own needs clearly to build authentic and supportive relationships.Dealing with Stress: Under stress, Type 2s can exhibit traits of an unhealthy Enneagram 8, becoming confrontational. Recognizing this pattern can help them address the underlying issues of feeling unappreciated or resentful.Embracing Individuality: Growth for Type 2s involves embracing their individuality (Enneagram 4 traits) and prioritizing self-care to avoid burnout and serve others from a place of fullness.COVID-19 Reflections: The pandemic provided an unexpected opportunity for Type 2s to focus on themselves, highlighting the importance of maintaining personal space and self-care routines.

  • In this episode of Lead with the Enneagram, I discuss the significance of self-awareness and the beauty of the Enneagram when used correctly. I touch upon the common theme of self-understanding that has emerged in my recent interactions with mastermind groups and high-level entrepreneurs. I caution against using the Enneagram to force change rather than finding a natural flow and the importance of approaching the typing process with openness and patience.

I also address the concerns of those who use the Enneagram in their businesses or coaching practices, stressing the need for integrity and depth in the typing process. I highlight the potential pitfalls of online quizzes and assessments and the value of having a guide to navigate the complexities of the Enneagram.

As I look forward to 2024, I am excited about creating a certification mentoring program for those who wish to use the Enneagram in their work with integrity and depth. I invite you to explore the Enneagram further and reach out to me.

Remember to embrace the messiness of the journey, to be gentle with yourself, and to recognize the miracles that can emerge from the process.
