Everybody loves a car, don’t they? They’ve have been a feature in rock’n’roll since rock’n’roll was wore bobby socks. (Apparently, Bobbysocks were a 1980s Norwegian band who entered Eurovision.)
This week, Andrew and Sam take this week as their opportunity to explore, this week, the many-varied roll of the car in the modern Western rock and/or roll tradition. This week. And, boy do they do it! You gotta get your ears in this shit. Wowee. They conclude by discussing the unique perspective of Grace Jones channelling a parking space – she is objectifying the car whilst turning herself into an object. Wrap your head around that, academics.
Andrew and Sam also discover the joy of internet comments. Sam wants the Internet to be turned off, as he sends these show notes in an email. If he posted them to Andrew, they’d take about 3 weeks to arrive.

Movies are too long these days. The big ones are all bladder-busting lengths, indulgences rarely seen since the bloated bullshit of early 1970s prog nonsense. If you want a bit of escapism these days, you tend to have to endure the flatulence of this nonsense. Is the death of the cinema neigh?
Who cares? A fun thing to do is watch music videos (Sorry, Jello Biafra—good ones are an art!). A lot of these, however, show us a scene and do not tell stories. But some give us a story like, er, Michael Jackson (maybe), was perhaps kind of the format.
This is why, this week, Andrew and Sam are back in their respective holes, studiously ignoring that and talking about other narrative-based music videos. Andrew gets Flowered Up, which makes Sam feel stupid about forgetting Red Fang. Sam panics and surprisingly finds a Primus song Andrew doesn’t hate (HE’S BREAKING).

Do you like metal? Do you like death? Probably not, and that's quite understandable. But do you like live music that is more metallic than Iron Man's codpiece? Or would you rather a nice sit down? For this episode, we're in the Finland, soaking up punishing music that's brutal in timbre and attack.
Andrew Culture and Dr Sam went to Finland to attend the most punk rock Death Metal festival in Christendom. Expect strong language, brutal riffs and adult spicy language. Because we're going to Deathfest and we don't give a fig.
This is the first live review we've made a fancy pants video for, so even if you don't like death metal, you should at least watch the video for the spectacle of Sam and Andrew trying to look pretty for the camera.

Since the dawn of civilisation, rock’n’roll has been featured in films. Many talking heads, in documentaries featured once upon-a-time on the BBC, have spoken about the groin-and-brain-fireworks set off by seeing Willy Hailey and his Comets on the silver screen. Elsewhere, Elvis flooded cinemas with his cinematic gyros. Even Little Richard stood on a piano in one, and in doing so, stood above everyone. Ever. The real and true kueen (sic).

Summer lovin’: happened so fast. It was a bit disappointing that it took longer to clean up the mess.
In the last podcast to feature Sam until August (unless something strange happens), SAmdrew talk about the hot music of the summer: that’s right, shit that went down years ago, but they missed out. Because they were ignorant, entitled, cis-gendered white men, too busy concentrating on being cis-gendered to let their hair down and just enjoy themselves.
They talk about missing out on the Beastie Boys, At the Drive-In, and B*witched, amongst others.
Remember what Kurt Cobain sang: just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they’re not after you.
And, if summer music is about anything, it’s about missing out on what’s genuinely fun for whatever shit is playing festivals.
Lesson is: music isn’t want it used to be. We could’ve been there, we knew about it. But we weren’t there. Because being there isn’t cool, but it was too obvious.
